vmax Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 It was nice hearing about Joe's spectacular Super Bowl Playoff run. Only Joe Montana equaled it.He was outstanding. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 27, 2017 Author Posted June 27, 2017 And now that he needs to carry a team he can't. Quote
JPPT1974 Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Just hope that Joe can really take the Ravens back to the playoffs and have his production go up again. Quote
tsylvester Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Missed by most in that segment, was him stating that; "the team was gutted, that they took away his weapons, the line, the running game and had terrible coaching since the super bowl run." Everyone, even in the segment, walked right over it. Has Joe played to his contract? No, but not all of that is on him. Quote

Except for Steve Smith, Flacco was deprived of all the things you mentioned. I'm wondering how Morningweg is going to work out. We need more emphasis on the running game and downfield play action. Every QB needs a good supporting cast to be successful.Now....the high salaries these QB's make hurts their team for sure. Rodgers and Brees haven't won a Super Bowl since their first Super Bowl win. 2 very good QB's but the supporting cast is not there....because, in part, of the CAP. Quote

tsylvester Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 But when Joe makes so much money that is what will happen. To make that much you have to be a guy who can take dudes and still perform. That is why you are making so much money.Look, this goes back to what I have been saying for years; they need to have a cap adjustment for 1 player on each team. Franchise quarterbacks do not grow on trees but their salaries keep growing hurting caps. Look at the past super bowl winniners, team development is what put them over the top and yes a little "luck" plays into it as well. But to stay at the top for years you need player development at all positions and the Ravens have not had that since their super bowl season. All of the top teams have, the Ravens used to be amomg them. But since that gut, even a year or two before that, nothing. Not on the line, no consistant runningback, clearly no receiver, even on defense they have not developed a secondary or linebackers; for years. Thus what we have seen over the past five, six seasosns...even the super bowl season was a case of players playing above their talent, a number of flucky plays. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 29, 2017 Author Posted June 29, 2017 Agreed. I am seeing more and more talk of a QB cap. Quote
krf82 Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 If we had Joe in the Boller years, many rings would be won.Instead of the one surrounding this topic. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 Totally agree. Boller didn't make much money and they had a crazy good team around him. Quote
JPPT1974 Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 True but Boller you can say was not the savior of the team that could had been. Quote
