Bengals

It seems the Bengals can win with anyone quarterback. One week after Ryan Finley led them to an upset win over the Steelers, the Bengals turned to Brandon Allen on Sunday and he responded by playing arguably the best game of his career. Allen threw for 371 yards and two touchdowns, including a beautiful 20-yard score to Tee Higgins in the third quarter, which was a minor miracle, considering Cincinnati hadn't scored a third-quarter TD since WEEK 4. The Bengals also steamrolled the Texans on the ground as they averaged 5.12 yards per carry in a game where they totaled 169 rushing yards. Overall, the Bengals finished with 540 yards of offense, which is their highest total since 2016 while marking just the fourth time since 1991 that Cincinnati has totaled at least 540 yards in a game. NFL Week 16 grades: Steelers get 'A-' for improbable comeback win vs. Colts, Browns get 'D-' for loss to Jets - CBSSports.com

How did they do that?

Cincinnati coach Zac Taylor didn't hear a single complaint when he made his team practice in 10-degree weather on Christmas Day because the Bengals knew the preparation was important if they hoped to finally win a road game.

That preparation paid off on Sunday when Samaje Perine scored a 3-yard touchdown late to give the Bengals their first road win in more than two years with a 37-31 victory over the Houston Texans.

“It just tells you all you’ve got to know about the character and the resolve of this football team... I just couldn’t be prouder of the work that they put in here in Week 16," Taylor said. “We’re out of the playoff hunt. It’s easy for guys to check out right now and we haven’t had a single player do it."

Brandon Allen returned after missing last week’s game with a knee injury and threw for a career-high 371 yards with two touchdowns for the Bengals.

“You can just see in these last two weeks that this team knows how close it can be and we’ve finally been able to have two real close games and we put them together to get wins," he said. “And we can just take that momentum and move it forward.”.. For the second time in six days the Bengals not only won a game without their leading passer and rusher in a game their leading receiver didn't have a catch, but in Sunday's 37-31 victory in Houston the offense also put up numbers worthy of the starters with its best day in four seasons.

The 540 yards of total offense was their most since an October, 2016 victory over Cleveland. Their 371 yards passing as a team with quarterback Brandon Allen at the controls was the sixth-most in the last 11 seasons. It marked the seventh game this century they scored at least 27 points in the second half after scoring a total of 20 second-half points in the previous seven games.

After Allen outdueled three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson with those career-high 371 yards in his seventh NFL start while not getting sacked and running back Samaje Perine had a combined 146 yards on his most touches (17) in three years, Taylor saluted his depth….Quick Hits: Brandon Allen, Tee Higgins and Sam Hubbard Notes After The Week 16 Win over the Houston Texans (bengals.com)

As you can see Sundays game is no "*** I'm stupid for thinking this game is easy ***". The Bengals have been growing and improving despite not having Burroughs. In fact, they have bought in and are enthusiastic, with high hopes for the future of this team ahead. Add to this, the fact that they are a division opponent, who has had at least 4 games against the Lamar led offense and you can see why divisional games are always tough and in a catagory of their own. they just defeated the Steelers q27-17. Things change. They are not the Cowboys or the Giants, who went into shock. And....they are not focused on the parking lot, in a hurry to get the season over and go home.

Latest Odds: Baltimore Ravens -13

The Bengals are a fun little story down the stretch here, with a pair of inspiring upset victories over the last two weeks. But the Ravens are a very different beast. They're running the football extremely efficiently at the moment and the Bengals were just carved up by the corpse of David Johnson. This could be a 2019-level game from Lamar Jackson on the ground, and I would anticipate a big game from former Buckeye J.K. Dobbins as well. The Ravens have done a tremendous job of smothering questionable teams.

The Pick: Ravens 41, Bengals 10

Best Bets: Ravens -13 (anything under 14 is fine), Lamar over rush yards, Dobbins over rush yards...NFL Week 17 picks, odds: Steelers upset Browns, Washington takes out Philly, Panthers scare Saints (msn.com)

Hey guys,  we're down 0 - 10, let's run down the field and celebrate!

Lol! Yea! They're dominating.

I'll give them credit, the Bengals did not pack it in the last few weeks despite a lot of adversity.
