  1. True, but Jake Long has been a great pick for the Dolphins so far. Also, the Dolphins drafted Chad Henne in the second round, and the Dolphins are pretty high on him. It is really Pennington's leadership that the Dolphins needed, the guy is another coach on the field. I also do not think there is any correlation between the Wildcat and Pennington's effectiveness. It is nothing different than the stuff we do. Remember back to the draft also. While Ryan was highly touted, he was not seen as a true #1 pick. The difference between Ryan, Flacco, Henne, and Brohm did not seem like that much to most experts, so grabbing Long with the first pick and either Henne or Brohm in the second seemed like a better overall value. Signability was also an issue, as Long was pretty easy to sign, and for a lot less. It basically comes down to no one expected Ryan, or Flacco, to be this good so early. If there was a re-draft, maybe the Dolphins would consider Ryan a little harder, but Long has been a very solid pick as well. The Dolphins franchise needed a leader like Pennington as well.
  2. Then hang it on their wall...? Sike, I am against hunting as well. I am also a vegetarian (not solely for ethical reasons). I don't think any less of other people that do hunt though.
  3. Exactly, Willis's injuries are a result of coming into camp overweight at 238 pounds. There is no one to blame but himself. There was so much potential for Willis this year with Cam coming in as the OC. Willis is the prototypical Cam Cameron runningback. Willis did not seize the opportunity. Even through all the injuries, we will still see flashes of what can be with Willis. Hopefully Willis takes this season as a message and really steps up his work ethic. However, I do not think he has gotten the message, nor do I think he ever will. Even still, I do not think he is going anywhere.
  4. I hear Cleveland is trying to get Mangini as their head coach, keep around Romeo Crennel as their DC, and get Scott Pioli as their GM.
  5. Harvin is a little on the small size. We need a guy who can stretch the field, but at the same time go up and grab passes. Then again, so does almost every team in this league. Heyward-Bey of UMD sounds like an interesting prospect with his size/speed combination who could drop to us. He is listed at 6'2" 206 pounds, and reportedly ran a 4.23 at UMD (UMD has it listed as their school record for 40 time). However, the reason he could be around in the late first round is because of his lack of production in college. Yes, he never really had the QB and he could end up being a better pro than a collegiate player, but Calvin Johnson never had the QB either and he still dominated college football. Still, Heyward-Bey is an interesting prospect. By the way, Heyward-Bey is a local kid, he went to high school in Owings Mills.
  6. Thanks for the heads-up! Intense video!
  7. He is acting like a 10-year old because he is blaming everyone else except himself. He is not taking responsiblity. It is like Schmuck said, if Willis had attended the offseason workouts, then yes, he would be justified in his comments. However, he has no ground to make those comments because he was not in Baltimore in the offseason. Every player on this team had to change their offseason workout, yet this team is 11-5. Willis is the only one complaining about this, and is the only one who is not having a career year. So lets see, Willis complains about Harbaugh's workouts, yet misses most of the offseason workouts, then shows up to training camp overweight at 238 pounds. Maybe Willis's idea was that if he was going to have to workout Harbaugh's way, he was just not going to workout at all.
  8. McGahee is the one that needs to grow up and not act like a 10-year old on a Pop Warner team.
  9. No thanks on Burress. Too much hassel, too old, too injured (his ankles are shot, no pun intended ). We need a young, tall deep threat that can grow with Joe. I believe Clayton will be good enough to develop into a Derrick Mason-type possession receiver, and step in to Derrick's role flawlessly when Derrick retires. We just need to get a deep threat that can go up and nab passes across from Mark/Derrick.
  10. I am not sure about that. White had a great year last season with 83 receptions for 1,202 yards and 6 TDs (very similar numbers to this season). And that was with the mess at QB the Falcons had last season. There was an article on ESPN earlier in the year that attributed White's turn around to a change in diet before the 2007 season in which he went from 220 pounds to 208 pounds. It is also unfair to say that Ryan made Turner good because he was LT's backup. Turner has been the NFL's least used talent for years, it would not have mattered who was at QB, Turner was looking to explode on the scene for any team willing to make him a feature back. If anything, I believe you could make an argument that Ryan is benefitting from the talent around him. Michael Jenkins is a solid #2 receiver, and Ryan has only been sacked 17 times this season. I would say Ryan is probably a little more polished than Flacco at this point as far as decision making goes, but Flacco is catching up very quickly. I think both guys are going to be Pro-Bowlers in the near future. However, like RavensNest said, lets see Ryan play defenses of the likes of the Steelers (#1), Titans (#7), Giants (#5), Eagles (#3), Cowboys (#8), and the Redskins (#4). Heck, Flacco has played 6 of the top 10 defenses this season.
  11. That is ridiculous, and I completely agree with Schmuck. How are you going to call out Harbaugh's training program when you did not even show up for workouts? I have been a supporter of Willis, but if he is going to pull this crap, goodbye! I still think Willis can be an excellent back for us if he gets his head on straight. However, it looks like he still has not gotten the message. Ray Rice is essentially a smaller Willis with a much better work ethic, we do not need Willis. Ray paired with McClain is more than enough for us (although this may require us to draft a true fullback when Neal retires).
  12. Not sure if I agree with that. The Giants are certainly an elite team in this league, but I do not believe any other of the NFC playoff teams could beat the Titans, Steelers, Colts, or us (yes, I think both AFC wildcard teams will win this weekend).
  13. I just hope he doesn't take the Cleveland job. Not for our sake, but for his!
  14. I remember I got to meet Jermaine Lewis at an autograph signing at Gallons (now Dick's Sporting Goods) right after the Super Bowl. I got my picture with him. Pretty cool day.
  15. Thanks for sharing Dee. I miss Sock as well. I hope his wife is doing well.
  16. Ew... ditto That guy is not nearly as funny as Fred (which is who this guy, I think, is trying to copy). http://www.youtube.com/user/Fred
  17. I like the Chargers matched up against the Colts a lot better than the Broncos. The Colts are the one team I do not want to play in the playoffs.
  18. I am not positive, but I assume it is true because that is not the first time I have heard that. I know some players in the last couple years have wrote into their franchise tender that they could not be franchised again (Samuel I think negotiated this). As far as that being a CBA rule, I am not sure.
  19. Throw that idea out the window then! I guess he is as good as gone! Here is a nice quote from T-Sizzle though, wouldn't put any stock into it. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/footbal...03.story?page=2
  20. Sorry max ... BTW, great pic with Ayanbadejo!
