A guy like McKinnie does not need mini camp to blend lol lol lol This guys is a pro bowler lol. It's like asking a physicist to work on the foil method.
-
News from ESPN is that McKinnie is down to 350. Hmmmm maybe it was the smart move to keep him out of mini camp. Maybe the coaches do know what they're doing.
-
Agreed. I just don't think it's a problem until Reed doesn't report and perform. So far he's always reported and he's always performed.

The Bengals are not ready for the big time. They have some big holes to fill yet and it shows when they play teams with talent. Their schedule should be a bit stronger this year, the Bengals always have trouble once the schedule becomes legit. As far as the Steelers go, they're still good, but I don't think that have the edge they've had in years past. I just don't buy them.

Jacoby Jones’ drops a concern in Baltimore
yagersports replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I'm thinking we're due for a redemption story aren't we? Honestly, even if he doesn't pan out, we've got a bunch a WR's on this roster. (Did I just actually say that? I don't think I've ever been able to say that about the Ravens before lol) Veteran presences are always a good thing. -
There's always someone that wants the back up to play. Rather nuts. I wouldn't mind seeing him in some packages for confusion. Maybe a some goal line packages.
-
Ever said something you didn't mean? Ever let your emotions get the better of ya? I think Ed isn't a bad guy, I just think he gets a little emotional. That's probably his game and pride coming out whatever. I wouldn't put Ed in the "cancer" catergory with the Ocho's, TO's, and Porters just yet. It's frustrating yes, but you can't blame a guy for attempting to posture for a better pay day. I'd fault him if he didn't show up to play. Maybe I have a sentimental spot for him.
-
Crav, I'm not sure any of us are gonna be done with that for awhile. I'm sure you can imagine how the players feel. To me this adds up to something special a brewin.
-
Can't wait to see Flacco suit up against them this year! This team is gonna be good good good!
-
So why o why aren't these games nationally televised every time! No excuse. Could be the purple glasses haha.

You implied it when you wrote this. We had been talking about Oz and his fa moves. You said he is inefficient and doesnt project out. I stated I hope his inefficiency continues because we've been very successful. You then stated its great to always be the team that watches another hoist the trophy. Now that I've had to refresh what you already knew but wanted to ignore lets get to it. You absolutley implied that Oz was the reason we're not getting the Super Bowl. If that isnt what you mean try posting more than one sentence with a complete thought. If you didnt intend to imply what Ive just mentioned then you either cannot stay on topic or you just say whatever in a vain attempt to prove a very weak point. Its tiresome.
-
So it's because Oz didn't address McAlister properly that Evans dropped the winning TD to send us to the Super Bowl. Insightful. You could have said the same thing about the Steelers and Coughlins Giants. The fact is in order to get that big trophy you have to keep having success. Increasing your chances of getting further in the playoffs. And finally, winning the Super Bowl isn't the only barometer for success. It's the end goal and that's where the eyes are all season, however success comes from consistency. Oz and co. provide that. I'm sure you'll have a one line response completely lacking in substance.

I think Pitta is going to show us alot this year, however tragically I think Dickson is going to be tons of talent lack of real skill. The guy just drops too many balls. He gets open like nobody's business and his frame is perfect. What's the point however if he's always dropping balls. Maybe I'm being over critical but guys with the droppsies rarely are able to correct them. It's too bad cuz Dickson is always open.

The headwear is Indian not muslim goof. Perhaps a hindu reference would have been more appropriate?
-
Well I for one hope the trend continues because it's gotten us to the playoffs 4 years in a row. The AFC championship twice and one dropped pass from the Super Bowl. Oz is a mad genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grow trend grow...Muhahahahaha. Some people always ice skating uphill haha.

Of which the Ravens do, and of which they make few mistakes, so once again, why concentrate on the few mistakes they make? Cmac I'm still not convinced is a mistake because of the variables at the time. And as I remember, Cmac was a worker despite his partying ways up until the coaching regime change. At that point, Cmac checked out. I'm not sure that the FO can calculate that. In any case, it makes little sense to argue shoulda, woulda, coulda with an organization that continues to succeed. This is what exists at the heart of the conversation.
-
I think you expect the FO to never make a mistake. This is unrealistic and in no way can be reasonably used to evaluate a football team or their operations. Cmac was a nasty corner in the NFL and if you think there are no other players in the NFL getting lucrative extensions that enjoy "partying" you're sorely mistaken. Many of them not only get the contract but fullfill them despite their "partying" ways. Should of, would of, could of is all good and well, but should only be discussed in light of an organization of say......The Raiders, Browns, Bengals etc. Those franchises are routinely making bad calls and justly should be questioned. The Ravens however have a proven track record of success in everything they do. So therefore questioning their moves makes little sense since inevitably they probably made the best decision possible given all their variables AT THE TIME OF THE DECISION. Wouldn't it be more productive and meaningful for us to talk about things going forward? The future is bright, let's glass half full this $@#! and enjoy the ride instead of searching vainly for a disfunction that just doesn't exist.

I agree completely. That's why I'm inclined to give passes on the things that don't work out. The FAs, Cam, etc. Take the good with the bad when there's alot more good.

I disagree with the assessment that "if they really wanted you" you wouldn't make it to FA. A team can absolutely want a player however there are times when they simply can't pay the price the player is going to demand on the market. For example, hypothetically speaking, say we didn't sign Yanda to a big contract. Say we didn't have a Guard signed long term. I absolutely believe the FO thought highly of Grubbs and would have given him a long term deal. Instead, the way the cards fell, given that Grubbs and Yanda have a very similar skill set, Yanda got paid first. As a result the FO just couldn't pay the money Grubbs could get. I think the FO definitely valued Grubbs, they just couldn't justify that much money in Guards. There's a situation where I'm sure the FO has Grubbs rated very highly, but the right situation just didn't present itself. With Ray, they absolutely wanted Ray.....they just didn't want Ray to set his value and they didn't want Ray to feel insulted by a low offer. Instead they let the market establish Ray's value and they paid up because they wanted him. This way everyone wins. If Ray is really chasing the money he could be free to go elsewhere.

Football Gameplan's 2012 NFL Team Preview - Ravens
yagersports replied to EmDiggy's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Cameron's failures in the playoffs have also had alot to do with Joe being very young. The past year most importantly showed tremendous progress. Why change something that appears heading in the right direction? -

No, that was in Billick's regime and when one facet of a team does something outstanding in spite of another consistent success is never achieved, it's sporadic. As evidenced by Billick's playoff appearances and records. This team is something different. It's far more balanced and it's achieved far more on the offensive side of the ball. Once again, I'm not really a fan of Cameron's but I've seen nothing that says he has to go now. Evans catches a ball and we were in the Super Bowl. We will need to miss the playoffs due to offensive ineptitude before a change should be considered. And even then, it will have to be decided why the offensive failure happened. (Was it Cam's fault, injuries, QB play, etc) -

I'm not a fan of Cameron's, but four trips to the playoffs and two to the championship game prove that something is working. I'm not for making a major change if we continue to rattle of playoff runs. How did it work out for the Vikings when they fired Dennis Green after 7 straight trips to the post-season? Also, I think it was more Joe having problems against the cover 2, (which is run from the 4-3 on most occasions) that makes us think that Cameron isn't good against that kind of defense. Joe showed last year that he can finally beat that defense. He beat one of the best in Houston. -
So much talent, so little smarts.

Ohhhh, I'm not going anywhere lol. Been here too long lol.

Thank you for pointing out the fallacy of my ways. I could have sworn that Ed wasn't thrown to 100% of the time. I am wrong. I am glad that you were here to educate me and I will not post so much anymore. Instead I will take in the knowledge that is bestowed upon me. Go Ravens.
