  1. Hopefully I can catch some of the Packers/Bears (the end of it), but I'll definitely watch the Steelers/Jets game. It's too intriguing a matchup and should be a pretty good game IMO; I don't viscerally hate the Steelers like many Ravens fans do, I just wish we'd beaten them. Anyway I think at least one player/coach I can't stand will be disappointed this evening, so I'd like to watch that happen.
  2. None of them will be poor, I bet. And how many ad hoc souveneir or adult beverage licenses will be sold to cater to these 'poor' in the parking lots? I imagine a grand time will be had. "How 'bout dem ____________s?!!"
  3. Intro song on my favorite album by one of my favorite rock bands (this live version is okay) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTrNQCYh70Y Gilmour is not only the best thing that happened to the Floyd, but also the most underrated rock lead guitarist ever
  4. IMO that's bullshit, they shouldn't be attacking each other like this if they trust each other. Harbaugh better play his cards better; not pass the buck.
  5. Been, who/what source was your quote quoting? BTW Been, been meaning to inquire, is your sig inre the renovations on Laurens off Fulton, across from the super-soaker carwash? just curious
  6. Gary and the Terps are done for this year. I do not see them recovering from this. Hopefully Gary will get a mulligan, but this was ugly.
  7. Okay, Green is killing MD on the ball, Delaney off it. We'll see if Terps pull another effort at a 2nd half comeback. A loss like this will put the terps out of the NCAA, maybe out of the postseason altogther for the first time since the NCAA-sanctions of the post-Bob-Wade era. A historical low for the Gary-land Terps!
  8. Wow, #20 finally gets his first bucket off a missed shot, not even a rebound there, with under 5 to go in 1st half. Is Gary being hands off here? Letting his players work it out? wow..., cuz he doesn't have enough TOs to say what needs to be said before halftime.
  9. Gary working, thinking, bringing Padgett in w/Williams after VT brings zone in to frustrate attempts to get ball to Jordan; we'll see how this plays out, I think MD's D will have to bail them out, maybe bring some transition opportunities into the game
  10. ESPECIALLY without experienced and/or solid guard play, the mantra should be, "get Jordan the ball" repeat X40. How does that not happen even once during the first 4 minutes? How does a man-to-man defense by the Hokies confuse them? Gary? The Terps have no shooting, field or FT wise, to recover unless their defense creates mega-turnovers.
  11. Now 10-0 hokies just over 2 minutes in? And JW, the team's strength, has not even touched the ball, they haven't even gotten it INTO HIM. What's up with that? How do you not even TRY to get Williams the ball?
  12. Of course; what I'm saying is that this team, which has the raw talent to compete (many close losses to good teams, but all losses) is in serious danger of not making even the NIT, depending on the next 5 games, which starts with one that they should win, and the others maybe not (at Virginia, Terps are definitely suspect even when the Wahoos are weak). Yes they're hurting at guard, but hey Gary is a teacher-coach, let's see how he does down the stretch. I just hope the team doesn't get any sympathy votes from Lunardi et al (I believe I heard him include the Terps recently as one of 7 or 8 from ACC that, as it stands now, would be in the field of 64).
  13. Pillow? In whose BR is this graphic scene taking place? well, at least you won't bite off your tongue, you may still then complain vocally. Really, I think an acronym is needed here, DPBOGABP is kind of difficult... lemme think about it... But really, when haven't the O's mgmt rai$ed price$? I'm not concerned with that, and I actually have some interest (if not hope) in their acquisitions, they seem to be deliberate in the intent to establish a complete infield that has been incomplete since, well, I dare say the Palmeiro/Alomar days. For now, legitimate 'trying' is enough. I may even pay to watch a game or two this year. At the Yard, I mean.
  14. It could get ugly soon if Gary and the Twerps can't handle the Hokies at home; they have no quality wins this season, and if they don't get a leg up into the upper 6 with a win tonight, they could very well end up 11-11 or 12-10 before they face Duke again to begin the February run to the regular season's end. They could actually finish with a record barely NIT worthy, now that would be something. And really, they could finish sub-.500 for the first time since '92-'93, they have been to least NIT if not NCAA each year since then. Tell me: can this team make it 3-2 or 4-1 against Hokies, Clemson, VA, GT, and Duke? My guess is no, so they're looking at .500 or just above going into the rest of February. this doesn't look good. Bring on the O's...
  15. yep, & thanx; BTW what's up with 3:23 and 3:22 AM? Just waking up, or... the other? Now THAT'S Obsession: For Older Fans. p.s. maybe Junkie = OBSESSION - Desire; and I remember how REALLY empty I felt after the losses to Steelers in AFCCG and Colts after 13-3 with bye; I'm glad I didn't have NFL network then. I would've been laying down in the middle of Harford road.

    Oh, Suggah!

lol. my 2nd choice would be my left-hand middle finger.
  17. Juuuuuuuuuuuust about; not quite...... might have to go again over the weekend..... [did I mention I was watching the 2000 playoffs dvds last week? i'm a junkie]
  18. 9 DBs is definitely dreaming. but I like the fantasy of Huff/Asomugha. Actually, I'd rather draft for that position. But we'll probably have to draft for Tackle or OLB.
  19. I like watching most replays, they really help me absorb the game without the emotional immediacy of first-time viewing; in fact they really do help me get rid of my emotions about the result and check out the performance more clearly. this is catharsis, not obsession.
  20. Okay, so that makes Pagano... sane. I guess that's a start. Regarding Hue, is intro press conference was funny, he said they'd "win the division, make the playoffs, and compete for the super bowl" under him, and he meant immediately. So really, in that division, he's promised like maybe 2 more wins than this year's team, I guess, to win the division, and then the other 2 promises are trivially true. Hire that speech writer.
  21. I'm actually watching the NFL Network replay... I'm sick.
  22. I'd say having Harbaugh as HC has improved our special teams; but shouldn't we have had improvement in our secondary over the last decade? And now to have the secondary coach be the new DC? The secondary has always been suspect even with McAlister and a healthy Reed, against good QBs and receivers, always 'second' to our front 7. A targeted weakness. How are we benefitting from putting Pagano to DC? edit: noted DC, even as Pagano coached LBs in college, what is he going to be able to do with Suggs, Lewis, Ngata, etc. that they can't do themselves? Would he even be able to mold youngsters like Gooden or Kindle (should he ever come) into the Raven LB tradition? Does he even know what that entails? Would Harbaugh even know what to tell him?
  23. Truthfully, among the top teams in the AFC and in the playoffs to this point, you could define outcomes in terms of a rather small number of key plays that separated winners and losers, seedings, etc. So in that regard Ravens' fans shouldn't be dissappointed because we were this year (and typically have been since 2000) a team capable of competing on level in the playoffs, when healthy. I think some of us (myself included) are feeling particularly distraught with recent years' performances in light of the aging of certain key players that express the "time is now or never (again)" mandate and the continual success of Pittsburgh, New England, Colts, etc. (now Jets) and many times at our expense. And then there's the "splinter in the mind" of something like, "hey, if we'd only beaten Cincy at home...", and "who the hell is responsible for that?!", well now everything is chaos, from losing coaches to veteran players equivocating to various columnists basically heading out for the sunset. I would like to think that a sensible GM or owner would recognize the basic talent that has really gotten this team through the last couple years, and not worry about the rest, but draft and sign around those core players. Anyone who has been paying attention knows who they are, health and ego concerns aside. I'm all for a purge and timely rebirth. p.s. that rebirth better include a huge emphasis on DBs and maybe a speedy WR
  24. I've only recently cooled off over this latest PO loss. Even my steelers-fan brother knew to wait 48 hours before calling me. Anyway I have no problem with semi-reserved fanaticism even for us 40+ers, but it's really taxing to go that route and get this in meager return. I don't wanna see see Flacco and Rice fold like this again unless they do it along side a younger core of players that they have a chance to adapt with instead of adapt to. So..., I would be totally fine with cutting the fat and BS from this team and retooling with some younger players that can grow underneath Flacco, Rice, Ngata, etc. and rise to their level, instead of having the growth of our most promising young players being compromised by the weightiness of older players. I vote for a youth (and depth) movement.
  25. I guess for Mattison it's git-while-the-gittin's good, or git before u get got. What the heck is Pagano, the SECONDARY COACH, going to be able to do with the real strength of the defense? Maybe just keep coaching the 2ndary and let ray/ngata/suggs handle the front 7.
