Well, if we REALLY want to go back in time, I blame what happened to Baltimore with the Colts on John Steadman's written editorials blasting a really good owner, Carroll Rosenbloom, that eventually caused him to sell the team to ass----Irsay. Once Irsay took over, the writing was on the wall that we had a nut case that would move the team eventually. This became especially important after Al Davis sued the NFL and won the right to move the Raiders to LA. The NFL realized it couldn't block the moving of any team though Pete Rozelle was firmly in Baltimore's camp. I miss the old Colts, their colors and history and their alumni. But, having said all that, I will say the Ravens with Bisciotti have turned out to be EVERYTHING we could have wanted as a new team.

I disagree Crav. We need a more capable backup than Taylor. I would hope to be able to find either a former first-stringer now on the downside of his career or a predictable backup. The offense will have to carry the load this year more than in years past and if Joe goes down we're really done for. I think back to the years when we had no backup for Bert Jones. We went from a perennial playoff team to a sad sack outfit overnight after he got hurt.

We'll need some guy who's an effective vet at LT...maybe McKinnie while we develop a kid to take over. Good article,too!

Got a question on McClain's contract and status: IF he does pan out and becomes a starter with a good attitude for us, would we have 'exclusive rights' to him in 2014 since he would have 4 years or less of NFL service, or would he become just another free agent??

I think Oz has a soft spot for Alabama guys. Some have worked out though Cody hasn't. If he doesn't look like he's going to work out, we can always cut him during the preseason, I suppose.

I'm not so sure about this guy. We don't have Ray and Ed around anymore to control these bad behavior guys. Its a risk but it might pay off big---or not. At least the money's minimal.

There's a definite similarity between them in demeanor too. Unitas was not a screamer or show-off and neither is Joe and they both prefer to lead by doing rather than yelling. I remember Johnny U. famously saying 'Talk is cheap. Lets go out and do it'.
