  1. Wow! That is amazing. Like you I would have kept Boldin but I think Ellerbe simply costs too much for the player he is and Pollard was a divisive character. Still, I admire Pollard for playing the Super Bowl with 6 cracked ribs---I would have been in the hospital whining and crying.
  2. Yup...its either restructure or get used to seeing your stars leave when they are still able to perform at a relatively high level. That's Ozzie's challenge and dilemma. We may be in a constant state of reloading and being competitive.
  3. Ain't that the truth!
  4. Frankly, I think Ed went over the line this past year. As much as I agreed with Reed that McKinnie should have been the LT, the way he went about it, yelling out' Bryant where are you?" over and over again in practice was insubordinate to Harbaugh. I think Harbs is a good coach and Ed USED to be a special player but Ed calling the coach out goes beyond the pale in my opinion.
  5. From Baltimore Sun: " Huff said his decision became even more obvious when he learned that the Ravens had signed pass rusher Elvis Dumervil this week. "I wanted to be here,” said Huff, who works out with Ravens cornerback and fellow former Texas standout Chykie Brown in the offseason. “Especially once they got Dumervil, I saw with that pass rush with him [Terrell] Suggs and [Haloti] Ngata, it makes my job a lot easier."
  6. Its too early to say but the potential is there for a significantly better D. All the acqusitions so far are really good ones but we still need help at inside LB and another safety.
  7. Maybe but I never heard of the rule of 51 until yesterday!
  8. Speaking of Suggs and Ngata and their performance and health: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Terrell-Suggs-Wants-To-Surprise-Fans-With-Improved-Health/bf00a4e9-7e7f-4df8-a010-712c9bb0d1e1
  9. Figuring the cap seems to require more intelligence than I'm capable of.
  10. That's what I think. At least we can watch them perform and then evaluate after another season.
  11. This was a move the Ravens had to make. We just needed a veteran presence at one of the safety positions. Remarkable that they got him for just 6 mil for 3 years. Wondering if we have any cap money left to bring back McKinnie. If they want him.
  12. Is it just me or has Ngata been slipping the last 2 years. I know he's had some injury issues. Maybe that's why. But 16 mil in 2014 seems way over what we should be paying a DT.
  13. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/haloti-ngata/ After seeing this, I think Ozzie and company ought to restructure this.
  14. Good news for him and us...I just hope he's ready by August.
  15. That's another reason they shouldn't move Oher to LT. Hell, if we have to, draft a guy.
  16. They need to keep Oher. He is a good RT just not a good LT. I agree they should give up on Harewood and Reid. It may just be possible to get McKinnie for $2 mil and draft a LT out of college to be groomed. I don't particularly like Bryant but there is no doubt the whole offense clicked when he was in there. Some (or all?) of that might also be due to Caldwell since both happened around the same time.
  17. We just replaced Kruger with a guy who's better!
  18. Gee...I think its only a 2.5 million cap hit. If true, a good job by Ozzie.
  19. I felt that way too.
  20. Most of what I've read has said it's deep.
  21. Hell, Max, I'm hoping you're right and I'm wrong.
  22. I really doubt we're going to wind up with Dumerville. In the end, he'll take a somewhat higher deal to stay where he is and since signing him would blow the cap to hell (unless they restructure some guys) I'm not sure us signing him is the best move. As for LT. its one of my pet concerns. If we could trade up in the draft to take one we should. I don't think McKinnie really wants to be here after he was forced to take a significant cut in salary from us just this season. But no one else may really want him with his weight and other baggage. Somebody has to compete with Gino and back him up if he wins the competition. Will probably be some guy who's over the hill. The Defense is a mess. Hope the draft helps there. I don't think we're going to be able to fill all these holes with good talent in one year. Looks like a long losing season. By the way, when it is going to hit them that OHRER IS NOT A LT!!!
  23. Yup! Remember the Eagles 'dream team' and how that turned out.
  24. Good analysis, Dee. It is hard to see you players you love leave the team. The one that hurt the worst for me was Boldin. But, with the exception of Pollard, the moves made cap sense and did reflect a desire to get younger and maybe faster on D. I think they let Pollard go because he's a disruptive force in the locker room and that Harbs statement it was 'purely cap' is purely crap. As Papa and RavenMad said above, the biggest most important need to fill for me is LT. Whether by FA or drafte we really need one and Michael Ohrer has not done well there. If McKinnie can keep in shape, which is a real question, I would like to see him back while we groom a long-term solution. Ohrer does well on the right side and KO is a really good LG. We should let them play the positions they fit best. I'm not impressed with with either Jah Reid or Harewood. Somehow we have to come up with 2 safeties, 2 ILBs, that LT, a C to compete with Gino, and possibly another tough possession receiver like Boldin. I think that's a tall order for Oz but if anyone can do it, its him.
  25. We've really got to make these count. This year especially since so many have retired/gone.
