Yup Osemele makes up for the disappointing pre-season Upshaw has been having. Upshaw had a real chance to shine but came in overweight and quickly got a minor injury. He's due to play a lot Thursday night. He'd better bring his "A" game.
I'm all for this move. Yes we need to allow Tucker to occassionaly miss a long mid-long one but it looks like his potential is through the roof and that he's at least as good as Cundiff is now. After all, we KNOW Cundiff had a bad year last season so I'm ready to go with the kid. I liked Stover's comment about Tucker's confidence. I also like the fact that Tucker kicks a straight ball. With his leg and confidence its a good move for the Ravens long term and short term.
Billy Bajema. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/TE-Billy-Bajema-Moving-Up-Depth-Chart/5eed01b0-7a0d-46a2-8aed-7df1c08882b5 More depth for the offense.
I can't find the stats unfortunately, but I think the choke job in the NE game wasn't the only problem with Billy last year. If I remember right, he missed some other makeable FGs during the season that hurt. All in all, I think Cundiff can be and will be a successful kicker this year. But Tucker won the job outright. His college coach said he made all the tough ones last year as well as punting for his team. I wish Tucker a long and super career.
He needs to be IR'ed. Then we can carry Boldin, Smith, Jones, Williams, Doss, Thompson, and Payne. I think thats all the good ones we have unless I missed somebody.
Sorry about Billy but it was the best decision. We get a better kicker and more cap space. How can you not like that? I'd really like to see them pick up a pass rush guy but are there any out there better than what we've got?
Thanks, Crav. I need all the help I can get with my memory. I haven't seen Pees 'unleash havoc' in any of the games so far but he could be holding back until the season starts...I hope anyway. Yager's right: we don't want a bend not break philosophy with our D. We want to attack.
As I said, Crav, I'm not a fan of his---I don't like qbs whose talent is more on the run than in the pocket, but he didn't look too bad to me last night. I missed the series Painter was though I saw his TD pass to Streeter on replay. Tyrod does throw too many INT's. He'll have to improve that to make a real statement.
I think he means Jacoby who's looked really good so far. I'd too would like to see them keep LaQuan and Thompson and Streeter. Is Streeter hurt that he can go on IR?
I'm starting a campaign for Justin Tucker. This kid could be outstanding for a long long time. Torrey Smith was fantastic as were Joe's throws in the short and intermediate ranges. His 2 long passes were just off a hair. OLine looked good and KO impressed me. I think he's a winner and long term solution. Our D did good but I still want to see more pressure on the opposing QB. And, I'll admit I haven't been a fan of his but Tyrod showed me something last night.
Tucker is simply too exceptional to pass up. I hope Harbs sees it that way too. The first team offense was very good. The defense was good and very good when it had to be. Good game.
The last 2 plays of the 1st half were ugly. BUT, I'm more than happy with the first half performance against a tough D and our defense held up. Jacksonville had the 6th best defense in the NFL last year.
