I've never seen this much turnover in the HC position in the NFL. Eight have been axed and one retired (Dungy). That's almost a third of the league with new head coaches. It's not just them who get the axe....most of their assistants go too. Bodies falling everywhere...phones around the league ringing off the hook from coaches looking for work.

Will the Ravens Franchise Ray Lewis to Keep Him?
vmax replied to Ravenmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
That's an important quote for fans who are not familiar with how the Ravens deal with their free agent players. 1. Other than the CAP purge of 2002, they do have a history of retaining their top players. McCrary, Ray, Ogden, Heap, Reed, Boulware, Stover...even McAlister. 2. They definately let others test the market. You know who it is because you'll see no movement on the player for some time during free agency. Once that players value is established Ozzie moves...if the price is right. Bart Scott is an example...Ozzie had a number and Scotts agent had one higher...Ozzie waited until Bart was in Cleveland, about to get a staff infection and said "Come home Bart"... The money was close enough so Bart deceided not to risk his life. 3. "Right player/right price" is in effect at all times, wether it's Raven Free Agents or FA's from other teams. Ozzie wiil not mortgage the future...he did it once and it won us a Super Bowl but the turnover cost was high. 4. Other than their own "home grown, drafted and developed players Ozzie signs Free Agents selectively. Free Agency is not how he wants to build this team. He uses it to fill gaps...like the great job he did this year in Willie Anderson, Leonard, Lorenzo Neil, Washington and Walker...key players for the price of one Bret Favre. The draft is his main source for personel. The Ravens are in the top 3 teams as far as having the most starters that they drafted. -
Perhaps not. The Jets are tight on the CAP right? Leonard has been outspoken on how much he likes it here....it's not just Rex...it's the team and organization. The Ravens want him. I think he stays.
-
It would be great if he stays for 1 more year. Joe needs him to keep progressing and avoid a sophmore slump.
-
I refuse to open that link... I got the list from kffl....I still have no idea if Gregg will be back. Preston thinks he'll be back...
-
He has one more duty to perform to finish out the year...coach the AFC in the Pro Bowl. Not a bad way to finish out a great year...on the beach in Hawaii. He's gone from a relative unknown to center stage in one year...good show John!

Ed has that bad neck injury still.

Might as well start some new unfounded rumors...

LOL! You guys are jumping from 0 to 100mph. It says..."The Carroll County Times reports the only potential blockbuster move the Ravens could make is possibly trading for Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin....that statement carries no wieght...it's just conjecture. It's saying "The only way we can figure on the Ravens getting a solid #1 WR is to make a trade with the Cardnals." Or... [insert name of any NFL team here]___________________Could Trade for Anquan Boldin. Now...I'm not saying this couldn't happen. Where do the Ravens pick? 26th? I'd give that plus a 3rd or 4th for Bouldin. It took 10 years to get a QB....still looking for the receiver... and it could be another 10 before they draft a legit #1 WR.

It's almost like Mangini is in charge. Not a good situation when the employees deceide who's the boss. I can't imagine Steve Bichiotti being so rude. Due to the inauguration you can expect and announcement from the Brownies tomorrow...Mangini hires Kokinas. This is a bad move for Kokinis. Look how they gutted Phil and let him swing....besides...he could die from a staff infection hanging around that place.

Rex Ryan Agrees to Four-Year Deal to Coach Jets
vmax replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
It seems like Rex has some headaches already. -
I think they will find a way to keep Ray and I don't want him to ever leave, but remember... The Ravens went from 5-11 to 13 wins without Ogden and 19 guys on IR....meaning the team will survive and move on. The Ravens need his laid back, calm influence...
-
That's a loaded question that I've been putting off for the off season. The Ravens will have a 20-25% turnover on their roster. Maybe lose 3 significant coaches plus Kokinis. On paper the schedule looks easier, but you know how that goes. Teams rise and fall rapidly, so strength of schedule is deceiving. Will Flacco pull a Derick Anderson? Have a sophmore slump? Will he continue to improve, as he has all season, so defenses don't "figure him out". There are a ton of other areas to look at. Right now the Ravens have evolved to a playoff caliber team and should stay that way for 2009. They have grown tremendously over 19 games. The 2009 core knows how to win on the road, find ways to win, defeat playoff caliber teams and overcome adversity. The character and chemistry is there. Now....build on that...enhance that, and this team will come through these changes in great shape for another run.

Great news. When I first saw the hit I thought the worse....meaning "He's dead". Willis had a great game.

Rex Ryan Agrees to Four-Year Deal to Coach Jets
vmax replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Exactly...they can't make lateral moves. At some point Ozzie will say "Enough". -
Rex Ryan Agrees to Four-Year Deal to Coach Jets
vmax replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
This is bullshit...according to kffl, Rexis taking the whole defensive staff... -

What about players Rex could take...Scott, Suggs, Ray, McAlister, Edwards, Landry (RFA) & Kyle Boller... -
I'm probably going to be beating an already dead horse
vmax replied to ronravensfan's topic in Baltimore Ravens
First...cut Stone and send a valuable message. The makeover to a championship caliber teram is not over As to pressure from the Ravens front four...it could be better. They need a 'for real' defensive end...not just a pass rushing specialist. BTW...one of Suggs sacks came when the Ravens only rushed 3. The reality is, that banged up as they were, the defense finished #2 against the pass. They had to be doing something right. Coverage and pressure go hand in hand. Perhaps our front 4 and back 4 are pretty damn good. That's minus McAlister...and Rolle missed time...so the next men up (Washington and Walker and Leonard) are pretty damn good. -
How did this turn into a Frank Walker thread? He's one of so many Ravens who stepped up, filled a starting spot and did well. Bannon, Leonard, McClain, Washington, Gaither, Chester, Flacco. Rice...hats off to all of them. Somewhere, maybe during the OTA's...character and chemistry took over and the 2007 roster turned into a 2008 TEAM. What a great ride.
-
I never thought they would be so good and get so far....19 weeks of football guys. Great season and I love this team. Thank You Baltimore Ravens.
-
Not enough weapons...but Ozzie will get them this off season.
-
Gut check time...the O needs to score 7.
-
This offense hurts my eyes....as the 3rd quarter winds down.
-
The offense blows...Cam is getting outcoached. Give the Pittsburgh D credit for making the O look so inept.
