  1. At this point it looks like he either restructures or is cut. Forsett and Daniels are old. That's why I'd love Maxx Williams in the first or Clive Walford if we could get him in the 2d. Oz would have to trade up like he did with A. Brown. We'd look pretty young and solid with Gilmore and either one of those two at TE. As for Tony Lombardi, his sources have been wrong before and he apologized each time.
  2. Yea, you're right and I said Oz can still get someone back there and probably will but Jimmy should be Ok after almost a year. Webbie is slower than before but he did better at the end. Oz will get more depth there maybe one of the Florida State CBs like Ronald Darby or PJ Williams. Both should be there in the 2d round and Oz can get another blue chip TE or RB in the first. Doubt if the CB from Michigan State, Trae Waynes, will be there but if Kevin Johnson from Wake Forest is you jump on him. If the top guys are gone you go for the others in 2d round. Mike Preston thinks one of the top 4 will be there in 1st round. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-preston-ravens-0210-20150209-column.html
  3. Maxx is the best TE on the board. Don't know about speed but he's big has good hands and is a threat in the red zone with his size and hands. He and Clive Walford of Miami are the 2 best TEs in the draft and Ravens interviewed both at the Combines. Of course they interviewed over 30 players there, more than any other team at the Combines. Thing is, the team is set and secondary is better with Jimmy and Webbie returning. Ozzie can draft anyone he wants for depth, just like last year and he'll get somebody good with the ones that will drop.
  4. Put me in the Gibson camp in the first round. He probably wont be there but could drop with all the pass rushers that will be drafted in the top half of the round. Someone could drop or maybe two guys like Maxx Williams, TE from Minn and Mel Gordon. He knows the zbs well and can accelerate and stop in a split second. Gurley is the best RB but has an ACL so he'll drop too maybe way down but a team will have to wait a year for him, so Gordon will be the best RB in the first round. Kiper likes him too although he has us drafting Maxx in his 2.0 mock draft. Id be excited with either one. We don't know if Forsett is returning. Atlanta is going to make a big push for him. KId Shannahan runs the same WCO as his father and Kubes but Forsett should be weary because that line isn't as good as our. Football outsiders rated our line #3 overall for run blocking, #4 for pass blocking and #1 for running on the right side over Yanda and Wagner. Kubes might want Forsett in Denver. Ozzie wants him back but it won't be cheap. Gordon is the combination and better of Forsett and Taliaferro. BTW, Ravens drafted Jamal Lewis in first round for pretty good value. Gordon would be the first shot at a RB in round 1 since if he drops. I'd love Gordon or Maxx.
  5. Even if Pitta comes back, does he get hurt again. I'm thinking the Ravens are thinking they can't count on him. I've been pimping Matt Williams if he is there. He's currently a top 20 pick and could climb higher after the combines. That said, the top half of the draft is heavy with pass rushers and 2 QB. That means someone is going to drop to OZZie again. Matt Williams could be the guy. Kiper's recent mock has Ravens drafting him.
  6. Great post. You're right of course but I thought the drift was he needed more playing time to get better. He got better as he got more playing time. He is primarily a backup, albeit a good one.
  7. I hope they can bring Lawrence Guy back. Check out his grades from Film Study. http://russellstreetreport.com/2015/02/13/filmstudy/2014-final-grades-defensive-line/
  8. And this is why we need Ngata pending his restructuring deal. His best game was in Piss during the Wild Card game where he put great pressure on them. These grades from Film Study. Haloti Ngata 2014 Role: Rotational NT/DT/DE (594 snaps, 51.2%). Despite the 4-game suspension, he still led the Ravens linemen in defensive snaps played (Williams was second at 585). The other available linemen can do a piece of what he can, but Ngata remains the Ravens’ only true 3-down down lineman. What was there to like about his season? When active, he played well. PFF pegged him with just 1 missed tackle all season. When did he play best? He generated good pressure at Pittsburgh in the Wild Card game. When did he play poorly? After a key 4th-and-1, goalline stop (Q1, 12:28), he was ineffective versus the Saints and committed a costly roughing the passer penalty to give the Saints a 3rd-down conversion that led to a FG. It’s pretty cool when a player still has a huge game in his worst game of the season. What was his signature play of 2014? With the Ravens leading 26-6 in the week 2 game versus Pittsburgh in Baltimore, Ngata tipped Roethlisberger’s pass then moved far to his right for a diving interception. It reminded me of his interception at Houston in 2008 and I cannot recall an interior lineman ever making a more acrobatic play. What does he need to do better? Stay on the field and be flexible in contract restructuring. Grades: Play B+, Value C, Developmental C-. His play on the field improved, but Ngata set himself back with the PED violation and that will cost him millions in career earnings. The reaction of both he and his teammates to the event is a model for such incidents, however. When Haloti returned for the playoffs he played as if he never left.
  9. That was one of my points. He is currently re-negotiating now according to the Ravens site and they're of course delicate as the site said. So we keep him at a reduced rate and McPhee could go the way of Ellerbe so it would be a double bogie to lose Ngata and McPhee. Journigan was playing and giving him a rest all season but when Journigan went down, Ngata stepped up. We won in Piss in the trenches. Restructuring might help Ravens to keep both Ngata and McPhee.
  10. A lot of fans want to off him but his CAP hit would be around $8.5M in dead money. He proved in POs we still need him and he'll give us more depth to make another SB run. Team can focus on WR and secondary help in the draft to complete the roster. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Eisenberg-Haloti-Ngata-Negotiations-Are-Delicate-But-New-Deal-Is-Possible/79a16f25-e038-4cc1-b000-041f048a3dd3
  11. Ozzie and DeCosta never heard of him. Their east coast scout called Eric and said you have to come up here and check this kid out. He's the real deal. Eric said it was so hard to go up to that small school and give him an A. The Jets worked him out in NY for a couple of days. That's why Ozzie, after trading down to the bottom of first to get him at a better value moved back up. He heard that the Jets and Bucs wanted Joe, so he moved in front of Gruden to get him saving Bisciotti millions. Parcell was interested in Joe too but thought he could get him at the top of the 2d round where he was projected to go so he took Joe's protection first - Jake Long - and then the QB but of course Joe was gone so he ended up with Henne. When fans asked why he didn't trade up for Joe he said he didn't have the picks to trade up. He had the first pick and passed on Matt Ryan too.
  12. Definitely different but gives you an idea. Some players develop their skills more slowly and depending on the system and coaching they get. Most of the guys on our 5th nationally ranked hi school team played college football including Mayor Schmoke who played safety at Yale for 4 yrs. He was City's QB. He was too slow to play in the pros. He of course became a Rhodes Scholar, a U.S. Attorney, mayor and now Chancellor of U of Baltimore. Tom Gatewood was highly touted coming out of City and was All America WR at Notre Dame and played about 8 years for Giants back in 70s. Ara Person played for St Louis Cardinals. John Sykes played Chargers. Bryant Johnson - Niners and Lions The guy who beat me out for RB, John Dutton, eventually scored 2 TDs in 1 game vs Oklahoma 3 years later and was drafted by pros but beaten out by someone named Franco Harris. That's the competition I had in high school but I made the wrestling team and wrestled in the MSA tournament. The family moved to Bel Air in 68 and my brother said I would have made their team and started and they had some good teams.
  13. With the Terps deadline coming up tomorrow for new recruiting class which is nice including a good QB - Gage Shaffer, 6'7, 215 lbs. Terps might have finally landed their QB. Going into the Big 10 has definitely helped them already in recruiting although they lost a big recruit to Ohio State but see where some Ravens were ranked out of high school. Tyrod Taylor was ranked #1 over Cam Newton with 5 stars and Joe Flacco in his class who was ranked #39 with 3 stars. Shows the draft is just a crap shoot. Torrey Smith was ranked 28th best dual QB with 3 stars so why don't the Ravens have a trick play like NE with Torrey throwing the ball since he played QB? Ngata ranked top d-lineman and 2d best player in entire country. His college coach said he was best player ever to go thru the university. Ravens won a SB trophy with him plus 6 of 7 playoffs and negotiations are going on to restructure his contract. They are very delicate. http://espn.go.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/17906/where-ravens-rated-in-high-school
  14. He was actually projected in the first round of the draft, in the top 25, then he dropped to 2d round. Now we know why but he kept getting injured probably because of his weight. I was excited to get him and Kindle in the 2d round. I htought it was a steal-lol. But we still got Pitta who helped win the SB. He has a ring and Gronk and Jimmy Graham don't. That was the draft Oz traded down with Denver and they took Tebow. We got Pitta with one of the picks for Tebow.
  15. Taliaferro will be the #1 RB even if Forsett returns and by deisgn. If Ravens are saying SR is too old to carry the load, then Forsett is too. Tally could save him a lot of wear and tear and come in on fresh legs. He wouldn't even might someone sharing the hits. Priest HOlmes said that much when they drafted Jamal. They'll probably draft somone too regardless of who leaves or doesn't leave. Just saying ya know?
  16. Don't worry, I read that CAV is being interviewed for Cleve's OC job. LOL I was wondering if JIM HARBs had any influence on this but also read that he was Ozzie's suggestion to HARBs. OZZIE also suggested Caldwell to him. Caldwell was actually on Ozzie's original long list of head coaches when HARBs got the job, picked by Bisciotti, of course.
  17. He's 59, not even 60 yet. Here's his bio from WIKI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Trestman
  18. He beat us the last time we played Chicago. His players like Brandon Marshal swear by him. Marshal would love to follow him here but he is signed and would be very expensive, CAP wise for Bears to move him. Most of the guys on the boards are very excited. This is a continuation of Kube's system. The only criticisms I've read are he uses more shorter passes than Kubes but considering JOe's last long pass went tot he wrong guy that might be a good thing. The other criticism was that he doesn't know the ZBS but he has Castillo for that. Gase was interviewed and turned down again. Must be something about him and Manning calling his own plays. Also, Gase never played football, strictly a nerd and book guy but is really good. Gase was considered at top HC candidate and had several interivews but not hired.
  19. They're not getting caught with their pants down. They have a plan and interviewed Gase tonight but he was supposed to be a hot candidate for a HC job and had a couple of interviews but didnt get a job. Not sure why Mike would go for a coord position.
  20. I doubt it but wouldn't be surprised. It's always something, vids, clocks and now deflated balls. This is why we spell it Bellicheat who says he will cooperate fully with the NFLs investgation. Nice guy. ;) http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000460888/article/belichick-pats-will-cooperate-with-nfl-investigation
  21. Because they called him,he didn't call them. He still has a good job he likes and can stay here. He can just about name his own price but the way it works like with Billick, they'll offer the sky and moon and give them 15 mins to think about it. Once you leave the room the offer is off the table. In Billick's case, he knew he was getting the Ravens job and spoke to Cleveland anyway.
  22. Ditto. You beat me to it. He's so wishy washy. He did that a long time ago and changed his mind after the interview. Maybe he's just doing Elway a favor by talking to him but he's heading a hornets nest. Manning's arm has more holes in it than swiss chese, more like speghetti and Elway will demand that his next coach win the SB with Manning nonetheless, or he'll be gone - in two years. That's why Fox was let go. Once Kubes sees the situation first hand he could be wishy washy again and change his mind. Speaking of wishy washy, when he came here he said he wasn't using this job to get another HC job. Then he said earlier in the week he's staying and is building a house. Don't forget the house part of it. So he just might be talking to his old pal to feel the situation up. As for a replacement, Dennison would be the front runner and be good but he'll probably go with him to be the OC out there. Kyle Shannahan would be next up. HARBs was calling Dennison for a reference on Kyle when Dennison said they'd be available. HARBs thought Kubes was taking off a year. So my bet if Dennison leaves is on Shannahan who has experience with Skins and Houston.
  23. I just read that Austin is next on their list. A meeting in Denver should have been held by now but Kubes has done this before in Denver. He was a top choice and interviewed for HC but decided he wanted to stay as assistant. He waited for the perfect job which was in Houston. So it's possible he could be wishy washy here and change his mind again. As for Austin, he would probably take some Ravens assistants with him if he got the job.
  24. WEll, he has the perfect YES MAN who finally got into the POs after he traded up to get DEZ and some other skill players plus some coords. We are so lucky he turned the the Ravens job. What an ass hole, he'd have a SB ring. Then again, maybe he wouldn't. HARBs has beaten him almost every time we play them including the last game in their old house with two historic runs.
  25. It sure sounds that way but 1,000 yards is pretty good for anyone, especially an old guy. They young ones can't do it except Torrey. As far as drops, everyone on the team had them especially Torrey and not fighting for the ball like Sat in NE and other games and who can forget JJ and his drops. Boldin had them too like in Piss on the goal line that cost us the game and TJ dropped another TD in that game as well. Marlon Brown and Aiken had them this year too. Owens dropped a key TD in the POs. Every teams has drops.
