Justin Tucker named AFC special teams player of week
RavenMad replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Yeah. Most kickers like the extra time to get set. Look at the miss Cundiff had against the Patriots. He blamed it on being too rushed into the kick. He thought Harbs would call a timeout to give him time to get set. How many kicks have you seen missed when a timeout was called just before the snap and then when given a 2nd chance the kicker nails it? -
Crav, I read the article that Papa has posted that pic from. This is what would happen if all the ice at the poles melted. The oceans would rise around 200 feet. Florida doesn't survive that unless you build a 220 feet wall around it. Those rising tides would be the last of the worries though as the temperatures would be unbearable in the rest of the habitable part of the planet.

If Elite is putting up god like fantasy numbers then Joe is not elite. If Elite is getting your team to the playoffs every year and then blowing it almost every time then Joe is not Elite. If Elite is setting records in your first 5 years in the league and winning a superbowl while having the best ever (joint) playoff run for a QB ending with a Superbowl MVP, then Joe is not el......wait then Joe is elite. Like someone said earlier, no one has clearly defined elite. Manning, please.....his fantasy numbers are great but he chokes in the playoffs and his apprentice over there in Atlanta melts like an ice cream in a warm Georgia afternoon come playoff time. The only QB playing today that can be defined as elite is Brady (fantasy stats, bucket loads of wins, Superbowl wins) and even then what has he done since the Patriots were caught cheating.......that's right a big fat goose egg of Superbowls while getting out dueled by Joe in the playoffs every time. I will say it again....QBs are only as elite as their weapons and/or offensive line allows them to be.

If we are taking my morals as of today, then yes what Carol did was wrong. If I were to guess where my morals would be during an apocalyptic event such as what the group are dealing with, I would have helped Carol burn the bodies and then smacked Rick and Tyrese around the head with a zombie arm and told them to wise up, I ain't dieing of no disease after surviving the walkers to get here. Only the strongest will survive and Carol was showing she is now strong enough to make the tough decisions.

If we cut him at the end of the season he would count $14.25m against the cap with the accelerated bonuses. His cap hit in 2013 is due to be $8.75m. We could cut him and designate him as a June cut which means he would count $7.125m against the cap in 2014 and the same again in 2015. That would save $1.625m on the cap in 2014 and $0.625m in 2015 based upon his current bonus/salary structure. If we draft a back this year we could easily fit him into the cap as a replacement for Ray on those cap savings but that is a lot of dead money. If we wait until 2015 to cut him then he would count $9.5m against the cap. His cap hit is due to be $7.75m in 2014. If he is designated a June cut then he would count for $4.75m against the cap in 2014 and again in 2015 with the cap savings being $3m in both 2014 and 2015. My guess is the FO approaches him to take a pay cut in the offseason with perhaps some of that salary turned into incentives. It would be a tough decision to cut him for 2014. For 2015 it becomes a much simpler decision. If he fails to regain his form in 2014 he is gone.

For how bad we have looked it is amazing to think a play here and there and we could have been sitting at 8-1. We have lost 4 games by a combined 17 points and of those 4 losses we have been in the game right up until the end but just couldn't make enough plays in the 4th Q to get the wins which is something we have done consistently well in the last 5 years. For all the issues we have had and with all the roster changes that have taken place including a bit of leadership drain during the offseason we are still a relatively competitive team. We might not make the playoffs but we aren't going to be far away from .500 either. If that is a down year then we should feel pretty good about ourselves. That said, the season isn't over yet. Maybe the light comes on again and we suddenly figure out our issues on offense and the D plays a complete game rather than looking elite for 55 mins and trash for 5 mins every game. We win out and end up at 11-5 and in the playoffs again. Until we lose our 6th game that should be the goal and if/when we lose our 6th game the next target should be 10-6. Keep fighting until the end of the game @ Cinci.

I love this show. The early part of the first season is still the best for me but this season has really improved upon the last couple of seasons.

Yeah he kicked really well in that wind.

The line is terrible. Part of that is the scheme and the assignments, part of that is the talent on the line and part is the injuries. There was 1 play that Rice got blamed for whiffing on a pass block by the announcers. When they showed the replay it was inside pressure from a guy that was lined up in the A gap over Grad's left shoulder. The ball was snapped and Grad took a step to the right with both arms extended out. The guy to his right was in the B gap between the RG and RT so why he was trying to help out there and not doing anything about the guy that was lined up almost directly opposite him I don't know. I also don't know why he was trying to help out our All Pro RG instead of helping a C playing LG. His token attempt at pass blocking did nothing to help Rice who then had to try and block a DT about 100lbs bigger than him. Ray is a decent blocker but he had no chance. That said Pierce ran better than Rice when he got the chance. Not great but better. Ray is dancing too much and going down on first contact a lot more than he ever did. Even when he caught the ball in space he danced around too much and turned a 6,7,8 yard gain into a 3,4,5 yard gain. It's very frustrating to watch the running game fall apart because all of the ingredients for a decent run game have gone rotten all at the same time.

Joe has been moving around whatever pocket has been there as well as I have seen him do it in his entire career. Against the Browns he got out of the pocket a lot but had to scramble for yards as he couldn't find anyone open. I do like our WR core but a lot of them are young and still need to learn the game. Teams have been taking away Torrey and while others are stepping up there is still room for improvement. Also the safety valves that Joe has had in the past to check down to while under pressure are no longer here (Boldin) are injured (Pitta) or just aren't playing well (Rice). You just validated my point further by highlighting Aaron Rodgers as a shining example of what a QB can do with a shit line. Well guess what, he had elite receivers in Jordy Nelson, Jermichael Finley at TE, Randall Cobb in the slot and until this season Gregg Jennings. Donald Driver was also a really nice veteran option for him up until a couple of years ago. Last season Joe probably had a receiving core not to far off that but this year with the drop off in the O-Line and receiving core he just can't get it done. All QBs need some help somewhere. Oh yeah, Rodgers has lost a couple of targets this year but his line has also got better. He is currently 10th in Yards, 7th in TDs but way down in 17th among the most sacked players. Correlation is there between an improved O-Line and his statistics despite a drop off in his receivers. So again my point is all elite QBs have either had elite receivers or elite O-Lines or a relative combination of the 2. Very few of them in the history of the NFL have done it by themselves.

If I was stupid, I would love to see the Ravens cut Flacco just so they could prove a point to Geronimo. But I'm not stupid and understand that all the great ones either had a great line or great weapons. Joe has neither at the moment.

There was 1 stretch play to the left side where the Browns LB overshot the play but reached out with a flailing arm at Ray Rice. Ray went down for a loss. The play was setup nicely and in years past Ray would have had a big gain but now he can't even break a 1 arm tackle. So even when the plays do work they don't because the RBs can't do anything with it.

They may be 6th in overall defense but they have folded like a cheap suit when it has come to crunch time in every loss this season except for the Broncos game when they didn't come out after the half. Sure, they have done well for most of the game but when we have really needed them to get a stop they couldn't do it.

Flacco is part of Ravens' growing problems
RavenMad replied to cravnravn's topic in Baltimore Ravens
When exactly where we supposed to trade Flacco? This isn't Madden where you sign and trade guys for 1st round picks. We also didn't have the cap room to franchise Joe and trade him either. The only other option was to let him walk and pick up a 3rd round compensatory pick for him. -
I said I think the Ravens win the div

The whole AFC North is falling apart it seems. -
We suck. That is all.

I thought Huff was going to be the best signing we made in the offseason. Such a huge disappointment.

London is 1 of the financial capitals of the world and Wembley is 1 of the iconic stadiums in the world. There will be no shortage of corporate sponsors for a London NFL game. In fact, it would become 1 of the top media markets for any team in the NFL as you would have a market into the whole of Europe as well as the UK. Why do you think teams are lining up to play here especially the teams that struggle in their current markets like St.Louis and Jacksonville? The almighty dollar or in this case the almighty Pound. Thanks for the offer as well. I'm sure between you and Dee I will be will covered when I visit Baltimore. The shortest answer to how I became a Ravens fan is I was new to the game in '96 and the Ravens were new to the NFL in '96 so it was a logical match. By 2000 I was hooked. My earliest Superbowl memory is spilling my beer celebrating a Jermaine Lewis kick return against the Giants. I'm not sure how I ended up at ExtremeRavens though. I think it might be something to do with Max's learning triangle and knowing things that they don't want you to know.

No matter what anyone tells you, N.Ireland is still part of the UK until it's not but I don't really want to get into a political debate about that here. Lets just say that I'm Irish when it suits me to be Irish and British when it suits me to be British but more than any of those I'm Northern Irish. 6pm local start in London is the perfect time. All the big Sunday games for the premier league kick off at 1.30pm and 4.00pm so they are over by the time the NFL kicks off. The only problem I foresee is support. Everyone that is interested in the NFL right now already has a team they are fans of. Having a team permanently here will likely not change that. Sure there are already Jags fans here but are there 90,000 of them willing to pay for 8 games per season? At the moment the fans going to the games are all there for the experience of going to an NFL game myself included (I've been to the Saints v Chargers game in '08 and the 49ers v Broncos game in '10 but haven't been since as I'm saving my money for the Ravens coming here or for when I get a chance to visit Baltimore). Having the same team play 8 games in the London might be tougher to sell out and certainly I can't see them selling a whole lot of season tickets at least not approaching the prices they are charging for the single games even in the cheap seats. Presently fans come from all over Europe to attend these NFL games and at the moment the NFL are selling out the games. That is why I think they are slowly increasing the number of games. If they continue to sell out more games then there is a chance they would be able to sell out all 8 games for a team based here. The other side is by basing a team here for 8 games they might have a chance of growing support for that team amongst people that are new to the game. I have noticed this in the National Ice Hockey League over here that has a Northern Ireland team called the Belfast Giants. Ice Hockey is not a big sport over here but the Giants regularly sell out and people new to the game in N.Ireland have started by supporting the Giants. Well that transfer over to a London NFL team? Possibly but can the NFL gamble with Possibly? The flip side is can the NFL keep gradually increasing the games? There will come a saturation point were they just aren't going to get any new fans to the game over here and if they wait too long to start a London franchise they will suffer from everyone already having a team and only wanting to attend certain games ie. when their team is playing the London team or when their is an important game such as a game with playoff implications or even a home playoff game in London. There is a lot of risk involved but with the amount of money the NFL is making off these London games and the amount they believe they can make with a London based team I don't envisage the NFL not at least giving it a shot. If it fails, there will likely be plenty of American cities willing to take the team and if it's a success it's the first step to a WFL (World Football League).

It's better to release a player a year too soon than a year too late. Especially if your are trying to promote a youth movement. If that is the case then it's better to have a drop off in a year while the young player gets more experience in order to have the long term gain and accelerate the development. Boldin would be great for Joe, but I like the looks of some of our young WRs and the players we got on D for the most part have been good. The team is still a Work In Progress and they might not get it sorted this season but I don't think they are a million miles away from a team that will be ready to compete again for a Superbowl.

We don't need a WR. We need a TE that can get open and catch and some O-Linemen that can block. Why waste picks on a WR?

^This guy gets it.
