OutsideRzAcE Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 A little surprised by Doss being cut, but he was defintley outplayed in the preseason by Brown and Melette The Ravens have begun making roster cuts today, as they whittle the roster down to reach the league-mandated 53 players by 6 p.m.Here is a list of cuts we will be updating throughout the day:* The Ravens cut wide receiver Tandon Doss, a former fourth-round draft pick from Indiana. Doss had an up-and-down preseason, but caught five passes in the preseason finale to rebound from a miscommunication issue with quarterback Joe Flacco that led to an interception return for a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.Doss' release is a good development for young wide receivers like Marlon Brown and Aaron Mellette as well as injured wide receiver LaQuan Williams (strained hamstring) and Deonte Thompson (sprained left foot).* The Ravens have cut running back Bobby Rainey, not going with three running backs as they already have Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce as well as fullbacks Vonta Leach and Kyle Juszczyk. Rainey is a diminutive all-purpose back who scored two touchdowns in the Ravens' preseason finale loss to the St. Louis Rams, but was still cut. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-roster-cuts-furstenburg-released-two-others-20130831,0,887276.story Quote
Tornado700 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I really liked this kid Rainey. Harbs tried unsuccessively to trade him, but no dice. Somebody in the need for a 2cnd running back or special teams return man is going to snatch him up by Tuesday. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 I thought he looked good last preseason too Quote

I've liked him all along and when Allen got cut, I was sure he made the team....I guess Ozzie didn't get my memo, we'll have to talk about that ...lol I think they will bring him back tho, you don't give up a good ST's player and dump his replacement too... Ozzie is playing poker now, "come on Crav, read it out for us".... SB Champs!!!! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Nobody trades for guys who are going to be cut. Quote
oldno82 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Surprised too by Doss and Rainey and that both Bajema and Furstenburg were cut. Who's the 3rd TE?We'll get over losing Doss and Rainey. Think we needed one of those TE's to be kept. Its a tough business. Quote
Robjr83 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Pitta still hasn't been moved to IR either. I guess he's our 3rd TE. 1 Quote
