cravnravn Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 My new favorite race horse, Effinex, dedicated to the bitch that divorced the owner 10 years ago, ran a game second in the classic Quote
dc. Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Word is that there are 5 Bmore County judges that have partial ownership of the jail in Towson. Before the addition they bought the property that would be needed.Interesting... Not sure. I grew up down the street from that spot. But I'm pretty sure it's always been county owned. The old jail was there forever and right next to it was/is Carver High. Would strike me as odd that the little spot in between, totally undeveloped, would have been privately owned... But again, no clue. And not all public buildings are on public land. My grandmother owned the land several post offices are on and accrued rent from the govt Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 The addition was placed on the other side away from Carver. It is out on Bosley. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I beleive that was a house and a few other smaller buildings. It has been a while since they built it. Quote

dc. Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Same jail, Crav... Just expanded it about a decade ago. Quote

dc. Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Saw the headline but not looked into it yet... actually surprised the numbers are as low as they are given what you just said. Expect more. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 So that Geico ad with Europe had me wondering. How much did they pay them? I don't see Europe having much demand so a $20-30 G's is what I was guessing. Quote
dc. Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Haha... interesting question. I am betting they got more than that. Quick Google search shows they are still touring... across the atlantic. I am curious... how do royalties work on an ad like that? It's one thing if you just want to borrow/play a song. But the band played the song. Do they have to pay a royalty for everytime they air the ad? Maybe Europe said we'll do it for free if you pay royalties. Lastly - I remember a killer review of the band that pretty much said, "You know what you're watching when the opening song, closing song and encore... are all the same song." Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 They were on SC for the top ten list. So mabe they are coming back. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 It is long past time for the west to have left the mid east and allow Iran and Saudi Arabia to have their war. Lets stop being in the middle. Quote
dc. Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Unfortunately, the reality of globalized lives, economies and politics means we're past that point. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 The issue is our foreign policy is to protect corporation from dealing with nations honestly. If Exxon wants to pump oil out of the gulf then they should deal with the govts there and get it honestly. Quote
cravnravn Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Guess that's Joe's fault? Package deal jimmy and Aiken for a pack of red starburst Quote

If Exxon wants to pump oil out of the gulf then they should deal with the govts there and get it honestly. But also that our entire nation friend in that oil stock and so there is an inherent interest in its availability. I'm not saying I like it, I just think we're past the point of "just leave them alone" because the world simply didn't function like that anymore. And morally maybe it shouldn't Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 This cannot be fixed by us. This has to be fixed by the Shia and Sunnis. This is the islamic reformation. Christianities took place centuries ago and was bloody. Now it is islams turn. Just let it happen. Quote
dc. Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Right. That's what I'm saying is difficult. We can't fix it by any means - though much of the fighting is not just Sunni Shiite. But also, we cannot really afford -given current conditions- to pretend it doesn't affect us. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 ISIS is the Saudi proxy army. Iran has had many proxies over the yrs like Hezbollah. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alastair-crooke/isis-wahhabism-saudi-arabia_b_5717157.html You Can't Understand ISIS If You Don't Know the History of Wahhabism in Saudi Arabia Quote
