GrubberRaven Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Do you realize how hard you have to hit someone to get them to be knocked out completely?Or that they could have both been intoxicated and fallen/hit their heads. My impression (when the latest video was not available) was Rice shoving her face away and her falling...knocking herself out. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Goodell is a complete dumb ass. I really hope this pushes him out the door. Groups need to make this very uncomfortable for the NFL and demand Goodells resignation. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I put too much faith in the courts and the NFL... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I put none in either so I am not disappointed. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 This video makes Goodevil look like a total asshole. I wonder if he thought the whole video wouldn't get out there. Quote
cravnravn Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I dont look forward to to week 3 when Rice takes the field Quote

A security guard on the way out the door may have taken the vid to get a payday. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/08/the-ray-rice-hypothetical-defense-was-an-actual-load-of-something/ The Ray Rice “hypothetical” defense was an actual load of somethingAs the shock of the just-released video of Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his wife in the face settles in, it’s worth looking back at one of the big lies that made the rounds early in the case.Specifically, his lawyer’s “hypothetical” claim that Janay Rice was the aggressor in the case is pretty clearly debunked by the video, which shows her talking/perhaps yelling at Rice, taking a step his direction and getting punched in the face, all without her striking him.The notion that she incited this situation was an appealing one to his defense team (including his football team), as it allowed him to save a measure of face. The fact she apologized for her role in the matter (which the Ravens were eager to Tweet) only added to the myth. One would assume that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had access to this video before he handed down his two-game suspension, which he initially defended on the notion of precedent. From a legal standpoint, Rice has already entered to a pre-trial diversion program which will allow his record to be cleared at some point. But with the league realizing it made a horrible mistake in Rice’s initial punishment, it will be interesting to see if they circle back now that the video is public, and everyone is seeing just how wrong they were the first time. papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/08/if-ray-rice-knockout-video-is-news-to-nfl-things-could-change/ If Ray Rice knockout video is news to NFL, things could changeWhenever they approach a gray area, the NFL likes to keep things as vague as possible. So with the world waking up this morning to video ofRay Rice punching his wife in the face in an elevator, we still aren’t sure whether the league saw the video before their initial two-game punishment. This video is sufficiently shocking that the league would almost certainly re-open its investigation if they didn’t see it before. But we don’t know whether they have or not.In August, the league didn’t specify whether they had seen the then-rumored-to-exist video of what happened inside the elevator. While it seems like the thing a thorough criminal investigation woud have reasonably overturned, the possibility exists that Roger Goodell didn’t see the one-punch knockout before slapping Rice on the wrist with a two-game suspension.Likewise, when Goodell recognized his mistake and enacted a much tougher policy on domestic violence, the league was careful to say nothing about how it applied to Rice.Wiggle room is a valuable thing to have when dealing with a potentially damaging situation, and the NFL has made sure to maintain some throughout this process. But at some point, and soon, Goodell will have to answer whether or when he saw the video of the punch, and whether or when it might impact Rice. papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/08/nfl-we-didnt-see-ray-rice-video-until-today/ NFL: We didn’t see Ray Rice video until todayHow could the NFL only suspend Ray Rice for two games despite the video showing him punching his wife? The NFL says the answer is simple: They didn’t know about it.The league’s PR department said this morning, hours after TMZ published the video, that no one in the NFL office had seen the video before.“We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today,” the league said in its statement. That raises some obvious follow-up questions. For starters, why didn’t NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell demand that Rice give him access to the tape? Rice and his lawyer had access to the tape, and the league could have said that Rice allowing the league to see the tape was a requirement of Rice being allowed to play in the NFL.The other obvious follow-up is, Will the NFL now re-open the case against Rice, and consider a harsher discipline than just the two-game suspension he is currently serving? The Ray Rice case has been such terrible PR for the NFL that it’s hard to imagine the league will allow him to return to the Ravens in a week. Now that the league has seen the Rice video, it’s time for the league to lengthen Rice’s suspension.I call BS. There is no way they didn't see it. Quote
cravnravn Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 if there is any truth to law enforcement not seeing the video, then they should go after TMZ Quote
RavenMad Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I wouldn't be against seeing him suspended for the year and the Ravens make moves to get rid of him in the offseason. That video was way worse than what was initially being described. I don't see her hitting him once which was the impression we were given. I can't see how anyone could defend him now. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 if there is any truth to law enforcement not seeing the video, then they should go after TMZThey saw it. Worst case they would have gotten a subpoena for it. I also don't believe the league didn't see it. Quote

tsylvester Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 So who to believe here? Knowing the lengths the league goes to vet players before the draft, how deep they went into the Mike Vick scandal, the Ray Lewis situation, I do not believe the league when they claim they did not see the vid before it was released. cravnravn Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Im just throwing out 100 questions here today.. Do DV victims have rights? dont they have to give permission of a DV act if caught on tape? Does she have any legal recourse vs Tmz? Quote

Ben wasn't even arrested and they got the hotel footage from Reno and all it showed was the chick entering his room. They expect us to believe that got that take but not this one. I hope this leads to Goodell being gone. The owners have to be getting tired of his shit. Quote
