I read this and didn't come away with any warm and fuzzies. The last time this happened, Suggs had a bad year.

Also, where is his leadership? He should be showing the rookies how to 'play like a Raven'. Instead, it sounds like he wants to retire.

This is exactly why I would not have signed him again. Suggs is going to burn to burn them with dead money.

I agree. In today's NFL, the rules prevent a player from "playing into shape" with these silly camps....

Wow I would understand Suggs' point if he was a little heavy. However, he looks extremely overweight. With training camp approximately a month and a half away, that is nearly not enough time for him to lose that gut. If he is planning on crash dieting and working hard for the next month and a half when he hasn't worked much prior, that sounds unhealthy.

I am a little torn. He is a vet so he does know how the process works and how crucial it is to pace oneself. However, we have seen many times in this league a player on the wrong side of 30 go from a career year to being washed up the next season.

Agree. Suggs will be fine. Stop looking for shit.

I don't think we are. Look at Suggs picture, he looks obese. From a diet and fitness perspective a month and a half is not nearly enough time to transform his body into the shape he's come into camp in previous years. He may be able to get by on skill, but unless he's going to severely cut calories the next month and a half (which is not a healthy strategy for his body weight to constantly fluctuate), he's not going to be in the kind of shape he should be.

I understand his point of not wanting to burn out. And it is perfectly fine (and healthy) to rest and ease into your heavy workouts, but it looks like Suggs threw any sort of diet out the window.

Thunder- My gut just tells me he'll be fine. It may take all of camp, but he knows exactly what he has to do to succeed. If I'm wrong and you guys are right, I'll admit it and it's next man up. I like these players-all of them.
