TBird Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Wagner and Zuttah progressing well. If Z can't play in pre-season I guess that meansUrschel will continue to play Center. He did well before. Trestman says Ravens can move KJ around to create probs for defense. Jarrett Johnson and Duane Starks become interns as training camp scouts.Starks? He's old and has been out of the game a while. He iced SB35 with an int. Goodell doesn't reduce Brady's suspension. 5 things to look for in training camp. https://twitter.com/ Quote
OneManCypher Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I always thought Juices ability to move around was one of the main reasons we drafted him. I was disappointed last year when Kubiak didn't use him in that fashion. Quote

GrubberRaven Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Isn't Aaron Wilson moving onto the Texans? Quote
TBird Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 WoW - I never heard that one about Aaron moving. Good point above about KJ. He sure got lost in Kubes offense last year buthe didn't have much use for the full back after using 2 TE sets plus 3 WRsand Forsett caught 40 passes as RB. But Trestman's offense will use Forsett even more in the passing gameplus the 2 TEs so how can he use KJ too but I sure hope he does. Neither KJ or Torrey did well in Kubes offense last year. Quote
TBird Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Ah, wait a minute. I just remember reading something about Trestman using KJ possibly as an H-backwhich he played well in college. I'll look it up. Quote
oldno82 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I can't comprehend why Kubiak didn't use KJ more last year. At the start of the season, Kubes said KJ could get 50 receptions in the offense. Didn't happen. I really respect Kubes but I don't think KJ was used effectively. Quote
TBird Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Yea, I remember that quote but we can't criticize Kubes too much because he had the12th best offense, up from 25th or thereabouts the year before. As for Trestman, the Bears were the 2d highest scoring team in NFL last year with two badQBs. Some say that's why he always threw to Forte, his RB who had 800 yards receivingbut stats proved Trest used his RB in the passing every season of his life except once. Getting back to KJ, Trestman did use the H-back in Chicago last year. He wasn't that goodin the beginning and made mistakes but caught on. KJ is much better so this seems to be the way KJ will be used. We'll see. Quote
vmax Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Maybe if KJ holds on to the ball better then he sees more touches. He cough's it up too much. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Isn't Aaron Wilson moving onto the Texans? He starts covering Houston the second week of August. He'll continue covering the Ravens until then, I believe. Huge loss, Aaron has been the best Ravens beat reporter starting from his time with the Carroll County Times to the Sun. Happy for him making a big move. Btw Jason Butt is also leaving covering the Ravens. Jason was really good. He took over for Aaron at the CC Times. Jason is going back to Georgia to cover his alma matter UGA. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Thanks gang for keeping me informed, its tough to get any Ravens news down here, nothing but deflategate nuthuggers and stealer nut huggers down here. Quote
vmax Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Two starting offensive linemen made their return to the field, however. Right tackle Rick Wagner (foot) and center Jeremy Zuttah (hip) practiced fully, including 11-on-11 drills. They did get some snaps off to limit their work early on.“Very encouraged by all of the guys, including those guys [Wagner and Zuttah], that are out there,” Harbaugh said. “We’ve got to be smart with those guys as we go.” Suggs looks good. Upshaw looks like he's in his best shape ever. Joe has a set of guns..really.....he looks great.Disappointed with Webb failing the conditioning test. I hear Steve Smith was fantastic. Yanda said Smith was the player that he would least like to fight.... ... Perriman had some great catches and couldn't be covered 1 on 1. Will Hill was all over the ball. Good reports on Davis. Guys wore down by the end of practice on a very hot and humid Baltimore day. Quote
vmax Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I thought I'd change the thread title to Camp Updates so we could keep general camp news in 1 spot. If you want it changed back...no problem. Rookie wide receiver Breshad Perriman was impressive before he left practice early after falling on his knee. John Harbaugh said the injury was not serious and that Perriman might practice Friday. Yes, Perriman had a drop early in practice, but he bounced back with several tough catches. That’s what Perriman needs to do – keep running routes aggressively, and overcome mistakes. If Perriman does those things, he’ll make plays. Perriman’s speed is legit, and he uses his body well to shield defenders when catching the ball.Another positive sign was seeing right tackle Rick Wagner (foot) and center Jeremy Zuttah (hip) on the field. This is the first time in years that the Ravens’ starting offensive line has returned intact. It has the potential to be one of their best lines ever, led by right guard Marshal Yanda, who some are calling the best offensive lineman in the NFL.The competition at cornerback will be interesting. Cassius Vaughn made a nice play, tipping a pass that led to an interception. The Ravens may have found an unexpected playmaker in free agent corner Quinton Pointer, who does not look intimidated covering anyone. And Harbaugh keeps referring to cornerback Rashaan Melvin as a “pit bull”. That’s a good thing in Harbaugh speak. With cornerback Lardarius Webb missing practice after failing his conditioning test, Pointer and Melvin took advantage. You’ve heard this before, but Steve Smith looked good. He’s 36, still moves like he’s 26, practices with enthusiasm like he’s 16.Quote of the day: Asked which teammate he would least like to fight in an alley, Yanda said, “Probably Steve Smith. You would think that you’d probably hit that guy 100 times, and he’d just keep on coming.”https://twitter.com/CliftonBrownCSN Quote
vmax Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Safety Brynden Trawick registered the first interception of camp when he caught a tipped pass from rookie quarterback Jerry Lovelocke that went off the fingertips of cornerback Cassius Vaughn. The defense got their hands on a lot of passes this session, with pass breakups recorded by cornerbacks Jimmy Smith, Tray Walker, Tramain Jacobs, and safety Will Hill. Outside linebacker Steven Means recorded the first forced fumble when he punched the ball out of Robinson's hands. Throughout training camp in 2014, fullback Kyle Juszczyk was a frequent target on short passing plays. That didn't necessarily translate into the regular season, but he and rookie running back Buck Allen were frequent targets on flat and wheel routes Thursday. These are good to get timing going for everyone, but both expect to be big parts of the Ravens' receiving game out of the backfield this year.http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-practice-observations-0731-20150730-story.html Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Webby failed the conditioning test? WtfFormer Ravens have been all over Twitter stating the Ravens have one of the toughest conditioning tests in the league. Basically if you don't pace yourself right you can fail even if you are in good shape. Quote
vmax Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Webby failed the conditioning test? Wtf Yea. It's more of an aerobic test to see if you can keep up with the practice pace and not get injured but shit...Goose passed these. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Yea. It's more of an aerobic test to see if you can keep up with the practice pace and not get injured but shit...Goose passed these. The tests are different by position. Quote

vmax Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Leaving no stone unturned, the Ravens are bringing in the Armed forces in their quest to rise to the top... Steelman was released from active duty in December to pursue a professional football career. He is currently in the reserves.Steelman was one of the top players in West Point history, as he was the school’s all-time leading rushing quarterback. He ran for 3,320 yards and 45 touchdowns at Army.He has been working at receiver since the Army released him from active duty, and he participated in the International Federation of American Football World Championship last month. He helped lead Team USA to a gold medal and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ravens-Sign-Former-Army-Quaterback-Trent-Steelman/524a616c-fbfb-4366-9f49-0ea3c4cd9b5c I like the new uniforms..... vmax Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) Update Saturday.......... On one of the drives, cornerback Lardarius Webb came up with an impressive interception when he reeled in a pass from quarterback Joe Flacco that sailed deep over the middle of the field. Webb dove to make the interception with an over-the-shoulder catch.....Terrell Suggs dominated tight end Maxx Williams with a bull rush that almost took the rookie to the ground during one-on-one pass-rushing drills. Courtney Upshaw then took rookie running back Buck Allen off his feet with a big hit after he caught a pass out of the backfield in 11-on-11 work.........Fellow receiver Jeremy Butler also caught the coaching staff’s attention with another good practice. He made a one-handed catch to pick up a first down and also snagged a difficult sideline grab from quarterback Matt Schaub. Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman brought up Butler’s strong start to training camp during his press conference after practice.- Schaub had one of his better practices as a Raven. He orchestrated the scoring drive that Magee punctuated with a touchdown, and he was sharp with his throws throughout the day.http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/News-And-Notes-81-Defense-Clamps-Down-When-Pads-Come-On/8aa81a41-cbd2-4c38-b7bd-d9ada00fed3a Edited August 1, 2015 by vmax Quote
vmax Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) Looking good....no injuries today.......... Taliaferro impressesTaliaferro, the second-year running back competing for time behind Justin Forsett, has continued his strong summer after impressing in organized team activities. He has hit holes hard all three days, caught the ball well out of the backfield, and looks even more physically imposing in full pads than he did out of them..The most impressive play of the early portion of practice belonged to second-year defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, who on a run play during full-team plays pushed back Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda several steps before shedding him and taking down running back Lorenzo Taliaferro in the backfield. He’s not the space-eater defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was, but with pass-rush ability like that, run plays like this one can make him an every-down lineman..........http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/bal-timmy-jernigan-courtney-upshaw-stand-out-in-first-padded-practice-20150801-story.html Watch, learn Asa JacksonArrington should have given some advice to fellow cornerback Asa Jackson Friday. He got lit up several times including a long bomb from Flacco to veteran receiver Steve Smith.Smith didn’t just make a great catch, he simply blew by Jackson.Carl Davis looks like the real dealhttp://www.carrollcountytimes.com/bal-russell-wilson-s-new-contract-will-affect-ravens-joe-flacco-20150801-story.htmlRookie Carl Davis, the defensive end/tackle out of Iowa, has been impressive. He appears to have strong lower body strength and could be good with a productive off season in the weight room..... Edited August 1, 2015 by vmax Quote

Now, Aiken is regularly making acrobatic catches after previously being with the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears and New England Patriots. Aiken ranked fourth on the team in receiving yards last season despite only being targeted 32 times. The former undrafted free agent from Central Florida caught 121 passes for 1,924 yards and 17 touchdowns in college."I just want to be a little more fluent route runner," said Aiken, who's playing this year under a $585,000 exclusive-rights tender. "I want to be a little bit quicker. I feel like I'm explosive now, but I want to get that quickness."I didn't really establish myself as a deep-ball route runner last season. I did that my whole college career. I want to be known more for that than intermediate routes." Quote
