dc. Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Yeah, I think just based on standard advancement and arbitration stuff... Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 If we lose today lots of questions are going to be asked why Gallardo was brought back in to pitch the seventh. Definitely a questionable decision given his pitch count. Quote
varaven45 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Only the 7th but we done pooped this one away. Agreed on the questionable call to leave SP in. Teams going to need to rack up bookoo runs every night. Starting pitching just gives you the damn shakes Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Absolutely terrible loss. Tomorrow is likely to be rained out. No need to bring back out Gallardo when you have a full bullpen. We didn't even need to use MacFarland either. Hard to blame starting pitching for this loss. Gallardo got his six innings. This loss fall on the manager. Quote
varaven45 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Luckily, only counts as 1 loss. Team should be 9-2; instead 8-3 and beginning to trend the wrong way. Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Hopefully this is a learning experience for Buck that Gallardo doesn't have the stamina to go past 100 pitches. I saw a stat this morning that said Gallardo hasn't recorded an out past the sixth inning in his last twenty starts. I understand letting Gallardo pitch the nine hitter. As soon as that walk was issued he should have been out of there given the top of the lineup came up. Also, do we not have a better long relief guy in the minors than MacFarland? Two blown saves already and the guy didn't have a good 2015 either. TJ made an absolutely lazy play on the ground ball to Crush. Quote
varaven45 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 It's early but the pitching, especially SP, is extremely shaky. It'll be good to get home Tuesday, albeit for a short home stand vs the Jays. Bucks going to have to manage his butt off with this pitching staff. Quote
Spen Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Supposedly the first time ever the Orioles have had a walk off with on a passed ball. Quote
Spen Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Well not a great start for Tillman but they are still in it. Can we please get computerized balls and strikes? Pretty please? Quote
GrubberRaven Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Meanwhile, Arrieta throws a non-hitter...and the guys we got from that trade are no longer on the team... Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Meanwhile, Arrieta throws a non-hitter...and the guys we got from that trade are no longer on the team...But we got Mark Trumbo for Steve Cleavenger, who we got in the Arrieta trade! Quote
GrubberRaven Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Did we? Hmmm, guess that's a silver lining. Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Did we? Hmmm, guess that's a silver lining. Haha. Regardless, the Arrieta trade won't get closure for O's fans until he either signs a $200M contract or blows out his arm. Hopefully the former. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I won't wish that on him. I'm happy for him. I just think the O's need to take a serious look at how they develop arms... Quote
dc. Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Pedro Alvarez.Yovani Gallardo. So glad we waited for those bargain fellas. Anyone see the numbers Dexter Fowler put up so far? I'll keep giving Gallardo time just because. But honestly, cut Alvarez and just promote Mancini or Walker. At least they can play in the field. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Gallardo is heading back to Baltimore with shoulder problems. Seriously...f' DD Quote
dc. Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Honestly, it's not all Duquette. He's working with the budget and restraints he's been given. But I still look back and think, with what we spent on Alvarez and Gallardo, couldn't we have had Kazmir? Or how about a trade for James Shields? Or last year a move for any other real starter worth a few bucks more? Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I'll eat my words on McFarland. Great outing! Just our luck with Gallardo. We identity shoulder issues, people ridicule us for our physical, and he has shoulder problems. I wonder what the leash will be on Alvarez? He's getting walks and working counts, but he looks out of shape and is not getting contact once so ever. Mancini is tearing up AA again. The Alvarez signing had a ripple effect. Mancini without a doubt should be in AAA but there isn't room. Quote
Spen Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Alvarez looks it of Shae? Wtf are you smoking? He looks like a modern day Jim Traber out there. Prime physical condition! Quote
varaven45 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Yep; nice all around win - good SP, excellent bullpen work and the bats woke up ! Quote
vmax Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 The O's cashed in on a terrible defensive effort by the Royals. The O's were playing smart and fast to win. We've had some fun games to watch lately. Great defensive plays and stupid efforts like last night by the Royals Quote
varaven45 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 So, the Rays Archer starts to pitch tonight. Os bats flat and Alverez get 2 doubles tonight - go figure. Gausman gets a quality start. Watching this team after 18 games you get the feeling we are now starting to fall back to the pack in the AL East. Quote
