varaven45 Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 And we'll take a 1-0 W anytime. Don't think it will be replicated tomorrow night. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 And we'll take a 1-0 W anytime. Don't think it will be replicated tomorrow night.Glad you got to see a win! Bet you never guessed the one game you'd go see would be a pitcher's duel. Have a good time? Quote
varaven45 Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Gong to tonight's game - should be an offensive display ! Quote
Spen Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Last nights win reaffirmed the winning formula for this year - keep the opposition in 4-5 run range; score enough to keep close or take the lead; hand over to middle guys and closer. Don't know how long we can keep up but it's fun to watch. Hope it's as fun tomorrow night - I m going to my first game at the yards. Should be an offensive shootout !Wow I first read this or assumed you meant first game this year. First gave ever at Camden Yards? You should have a great time, hope it's an entertaining game! Quote
dc. Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 I'm disappointed Tillman didn't strike out 20 Tigers. They're prone to it, you know... Quote
Spen Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I'm disappointed Kate Upton wasn't there to run around the bases during the 7th inning stretch. Quote
Spen Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Lol, Alvarez looking good at 3rd tonight. Another pitcher's duel! Quote
Spen Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Orioles with 13 quality starts in their last 17 games. Check out @masnRoch's Tweet: https://twitter.com/masnRoch/status/731649242163482624?s=09 Edited May 15, 2016 by Spen Quote
Spen Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 DC, I can't believe you don't care for Gary Thorne. He has a great home run call of Adam Jone's homerun in the 7th tonight. Who cares if Schoop was the batter? Quote
Spen Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Thanks Cleetz. Expecting some fireworks tomorrow night - hopefully from the good guys !Fireworks! Good pitching. Good hitting! Grand slam! What a game to have as your first at Camden! Quote
varaven45 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Lots of fun tonight at the yards. It took a while but the bats woke up. Wright had some good stuff and Schoop (or was it Jones) with the big bat. The boys are having fun and it's great to watch. Keep on keeping on ! Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Saw this tweet: @DanClarkSports: Putting the O's great start into context, playing .500 ball from here on in will see them notch 87 wins. This team will get 90+ for sure. Haven't done the math myself but this highlights the advantage of getting off to a hot start. Quote

dc. Posted May 15, 2016 Author Posted May 15, 2016 Bad teams don't win 7 straight. Average teams don't do it twice in a season, let alone half a season. We've had some easy games, but winning games you should win is always part of the plan and something the O's have historically struggled with. Keep on it. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Yesterday was a bad loss. First Buck didn't challenge the inning ending DP hit by Álvarez where it appeared the Tigers first baseman had his heel off the bag. Given a run was at stake it was at least worth a look. Then we had the error by Rickards for losing the pop fly in the sun, which led to another run and more pitches by Gausman. And finally, the missed check swing strike call for JD Martínez which led to another two runs. Those sequence of plays equaled a four run swing to the Tigers. Quote
varaven45 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Cleetz, I hear ya-bad loss all the way around.Lots of coulda and shoulda's . The Tigers could have blown Gausman out early and often. But Gausman stuck around and fought through it - tough outing for him. The Os had Tiger starter on ropes in the 1st and let him hang around, too. They could have had a 4-5 run 1st inning. Those questionable moves ( or lack of) by Buck seemed like game changers to me too. The missed 3rd strike by ODay was the real dagger. It only counts as 1 loss but this is one that may came back and haunt later. Need to put this one behind and get game against Seattle- not an easy task. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 what happened to Parades? nowhere to play him or what, I thought he had a decent 2015 for us. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 what happened to Parades? nowhere to play him or what, I thought he had a decent 2015 for us.He had a terrible year at the plate from July on. He also cannot hit lefties. Even when he was hitting well from April-June he struck out a lot and didn't walk. He's also not a natural outfielder. With that said, watch him turn into another late blooming star for the Blue Jays. Quote
varaven45 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Nice smelly, stinky, rotten egg laid tonight against Mariners. Back to back bad games at home. At least Bosox losing to KC tonight through 6 innings. Quote

thundercleetz Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 A decision needs to be made on Matusz. He cannot even get lefties out anymore. I hate getting rid of a young player who is chew and under team control, but maybe he is not completely healthy and needs to be put back on IR. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Marvelous five out save by Britton! Let's catch Seattle sleepy with the early 12:35 game tomorrow! Quote
Spen Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Well the pitching wasn't good but when a team starts Ryan Flaherty in RF it's probably not going to win. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Rickards has been terrible the past twenty games or so. He's been killing us at lead off. Hate to put Manny there but we need to get some production from LF. Even when Rickards hits the ball its extremely weak. Sure he works counts, but pitchers pitch him to contact because he has low exit velocity and a poor BAIP. Maybe try Reimold at lead off? Quote
cravnravn Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 stupid stupid loss, making a team play a game that should have totally had their mind set wacky as well as their physical being out of whack. and the home team doesn't show up. games like this come back to haunt you Quote
