Guest BallTMore Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Per Aaron Wilson's twitter, and WNST text. Most likly means Carr will remain a Raven. I'm ok with that. He was quietly solid last season. I did like Wilson, though. Quote
oldno82 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I preferred him to Carr but Carr is alright and we have Foxworth, Webb, and Jimmy Smith so I'm not too worried. Quote
vmax Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Ditto. Now the Redskins only need 21 more Ravens on their roster to be decent. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Outside of the Atlanta game, Wilson did really well last year. I have more faith in him at corner than I do Fox. Quote
colincac Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 They overpaid him, had to let him go for that price. Bring Carr back at 2.5 Mil/year. Quote
RavenMad Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I thought I read Carr was looking for $5mill a year! Also read that the Ravens supposedly didn't even offer Wilson and that him being 2nd in line to Yanda on the list of the Ravens FA priorities was only a smokescreen for something else. Does that mean Asomugha? Probably not, but it would be nice. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Good call Mad-Man, we better be going after Aso. Quote
yagersports Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 NFL.com has Aso going to the Jets, and they're pretty confident it's going to happen. I would have loved having Wilson playing the nickel, but Carr has done a good job, hopefully we can bring him back. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 What about Jonathan Joseph? He won't ask for Aso money but he's probably the 2nd best corner on the market. Quote

I wonder if the Ravens would have any interest Quote
yagersports Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 God no to cromartie, he takes chances like McAlister, but doesn't get the results CMac used to get. I wouldn't mind Joseph, he would suit the Ravens just perfectly. Quote
colincac Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 My offseason would be ruined if Aso goes to the Jets, absolutely ruined. Quote

oldno82 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 While I'd love to have Naamdi or Joseph I just have a feeling we don't have the cap room available. We must sign Ngata to a long-term cap friendly deal. Right now he's eating up a ton of cap money with the Franchise tag. And this should be done ASAP. We still need an OT and a FB at least. Quote
yagersports Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Here's another thing....why are we linked to none of the FAs on the market???? Quote

yagersports Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I suspect we don't have the cap money available. Wasn't that the point of our cuts to get cap room???? Quote
cravnravn Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 We're 20 mil under the CAP last I heard..We need 4 mil for the rookie pool. Gets Aso's ass in here, ASAP Jets cant afford him, they are 10 mil under, not including Holmes new contract, and need 3.5 mil for their rookie pool. Quote
vmax Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 On the Ravens in FA so far: Ozzie's doing what he always does in letting the market settle down. He won't get in bidding wars during the early days of free agency. Let the top dollar guys go.They are signing their own and waiting for value. The Ravens are set at CB...that's not a team weakness. Quote
oldno82 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Can anybody point me to where it says what our cap room is? I thought we freed up 18.6mil with the cuts but we need 4 for the rookie pool and we just gave 6.5 to Yanda. So that sounds like 8.1 mil left. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 The Ravens are set at CB...that's not a team weakness. How did you come up with that?? Carr is going to be gone, Foxworth is coming off major surgery. Good news is, Texans signed Joseph, and its real apparent that the Jesters cant afford Aso, or he would have been signed by now.Heres to hoping the Ravens become a player in the Aso sweepstakes. Aso was thrown at 32 times last year..32 TIMES!!!! and only 14 completed.Come on Oz, pull the trigger. Quote

Adam Schefter, ESPN, says the Jets have $10M to play with and hes surprised they heavent snatched him up. He also says the Jets GM (Woody Johnson) is a crackerjack at the cap game and he will get er done. I would be shocked if we get, even seriously pursue Aso. Quote

I heard the Jets were 10 mil under also, but I also heard that 10 mil didnt reflect Holmes cap hit nor did it include the rookie salary pool of 3.5 million... Quote
cravnravn Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Foxworth's injury is a 12 to 18 month recovery, today marks his 11th month since he had the surgery....I dont think we are set at CB as we think we are. Quote
