He hasn't lost it, he never had head coach abilities. After he loses this one, no one will hire him to be a head coach, but he is still a great defensive coordinator, certainly better than Pees.
-
He was told by the owners, who like the new oc (and plan to have him take Rex's job) to fire the Roman. Rex will follow soon and maybe end up back here?

Throw the stats out for Thursday night games after a Sunday game. There is no telling how a team will play. I will say the Jets have a better: offensive line Wide recievers core & Offensive coordinator. Put all those factors together against a tired defense because of a short week and you give up 30+ points.

I don't know how to feel about this game. The Ravens offensive line is troubling, both in pass protection and in the running game. The defense, the back end, who knows how they will play. The Browns are bad, but we know how they usually play the Ravens tough. Will the pass rush get to McCown? Will they force turnovers? Will the secondary step up and not give up big plays ro a suspect receiving core? Will they be a penalty machine? Will the passing game get on track and stay consistant? So many questions to answer...

Oh yes, we have a long way to go, but maybe, that is the point. We already have laws on the books prohibiting these hiring practices. The media has changed from even just 10 years ago, they will jump on any story if it gets them money. Social media has changed this country, the world for that matter. There are now more people in positions who feel as we do; everyone is equal. I know, there are still many bigots out there, and things still need to come full circle, if they ever will is another topic. But forcing the issue, to me, just seems wrong and counter productive. Maybe I am a bit biased, having been bitten, twice, by the being the wrong color bug because of quota systems.....

Coming to an NFL league near you. I am sorry, forcing people to include everyone seems to defeat the purpose and can be discriminatory on its own. If two people arw equally qualified for one job position, and you give it to one over the other based on skin tone, sex, or religion, it is the same as not giving it to one because of the same; discriminatory.

Well said Cleetz. This offense, dating back to last year, is very, very predictable. This year, and I do not know if it is a running back issue or set up by Trestman, the back seems to be far deeper set, but only on sweeps, it is quite obvious, not only from our view, but also from the view from the line backers & safeties.

They need to ditch that stupid dipsy-doodle "screen" to Smith. It luckily worked last year, Once! It is too obvious to work productively. This team has never truly been able to run a screen nor a wide receiver screen consistently, effectively....
-
Yeah, I do as well. I thought he could have been a good qb for a long time but he can't seem to get out of his head. He ran right at the guy, tried to bull him over.... I almost think he was trying to get hurt, especially since he stunk up the game..

Oldno, I did not hear Joe say it, but by his stance, the way the ball was diving low on him, it was pretty clear to me. I thought Tyrod played tentatively, he is a far better runner than he showed today. It looked to me as if he wanted to win with his arm, not his legs.

Yeah I have had their burgers, yum

Pretty much as expected for a team with new parts, young lines; inconsistency. The play calling not bad, especially considering they only had two backs healthy and active. Not happy with the play choice on 4th down... Second half was filled with four men beating the five man young line of the Ravens, difficult to find open receivers. On one instance, the back ran right past the blitzing corner to go out on a route.. Watkins was held in check only because of the scheme, single safety really high favored to his side. The defensive line ran out of gas in the 3rd, but got refuled in the 4th, they held a lead! Flacco was super until that knee started bothering him in the 2nd half, low throws... Hey a win is a win, the Browns up next, they look worse than the Bills, so there is hope. Oh and yes, he shall now be named; Perriman, made the great catch, couldn't make the difficult one, but he staid healthy... Oh and other than Tucker & Koch, special teams were anything but....
-
If you have never had a bison burger, I highly recommend them; so yummy! I hope the Ravens devour them...
-
TC, the bad part for me on this issue, Ozzie could have perhaps should have drafted Sterling Sheppard instead of Reynolds, then the would have had their slot receiver and punt\kick returner.....
-
Well, there is no guarantee Smith Sr stays healthy, nor Perriman for that matter.

We cannot know what goes on in practice. I remember back in the Billick days, they drafted Derick Abney to be the punt\kick returner, but also get BJ Sams. All preseason, Abney gets his chances while Sams nurses a bad wheel, & doesnt practice except for work outs fielding kicks and punts on the side, after practice. Everyone outside of the org thought Abney was a lock dispite his flubs. While those at practiice\camp, knew Sams was the guy. Now neither worked out in the end. Today, they have been grooming Moore, who did a pretty good job at fielding and returning in the preseason games. They also had a few running backs who did fine job as well. Back to my we don't see practices, sure, maybe these guys were not practicing well, and likely, they are still going to work with them,,, All I know is Hester only played in 5 games last year (4.3 yds a pr-26 kr), , has a bad foot\ toe. Those injuries never heal right, especially with speed guys. If we go back the last five years, his kick returns have been nothing special, when you factor in the yards now counted from the endzone. Average starting field position, the 26 yard line on his returns. Punts over that span ( where I think they really want him) have gone down eaxh year, 2011 was great at 16 yds per. But then 8,14,13,4 yds per return. 12 total fumbles over that five year span as well, last year in limited action he had none. So, you can see why I say this was a panic move, from my point of view, by Ozzie once again... I hope he stays healthy.
-
The defense gave up history & career making yards to below average quarterbacks last year.. They have a knack for playing down to their opponents..
-
Bravo Troy, this garbage of argument television shows is ridiculous. Skippy using creative license like air we breathe is an insult to everyone's intelligence.
-
True, they never have and I am not saying he will be the first. But looking at the improvements he made since he has been here, how hard he works and his skill set, one could see (and Harbs agrees) he could easily be the first. As I said a few posts up, I understood if this was over him not be a special teams player, and they needed the roster spot. However, they signed a special teams player who can't play receiver...
-
They could develope one, especially with the touch backs starting at the 25. Punt returns, granted, a bit more tricky, but they could have managed. When\if Hester gets hurt, what then?
-
Too young at too many positions, not enough talent on defense, while I think the receivers are good, age, inconsistency, injury history has me skeptical. 7-9, maybe 9-7.
-
Maybe if this was a legit Super Bowl contender. But he struggles to stay healthy and this team, right now is bbarely a play off team..
-
So much for their first reasoning being special teams contribution... Now Harbs says it was to make room for Hester... Sorry, if that is the real reason they are not very bright and would explain why they can't even get video reviews right... Were this a legit super bowl contender, I could understand their need for a "premiere" return man. But an often injured, bad wheel, aging vet who can only contribute on special teams over this hard working young receiver? No chance...
-
He was an up & coming receiver, nothing more at this point. Since he ws not in the top 2 or 3 at his position, what means he has to be able to make up for his roster spot; special teams. So far, all he has done is take full advantage of beating guys who will likely not be starters at best, flipping burgers at worst. When he has played over the past 2 years, in the regular season, he rarely got separation, struggled with running his routes properly, and did drop some key passes. Yes, he has shown flashes, but that is all they are at this point. The team can still sign him off of the Bucs' practice squad if they want, but who does he replace on this roster? What other position, that most likely only has one maybe 2 back ups, are you going to pillage? This team is not good enough to carry 7 wide outs.
