He is not having surgery, so ....

Why this would ruin the game. With the rule changes to practice in the last CBA, we have already seen an increase not only in injuries, but a decline in over play on the field. Take out these games, reduce them, the players get even less time to "get in shape" to learn the system, to practice, yes practice, their craft. Quality of play will slip even further and yes, injuries, I believe, would increase; muscle injuries, pulled hammies, calf strains, even knee injuries. The Ravens tried to blame the turf for Suggs' two achilles tears and for Smith Sr's... Now, on the first play of a game, no contact involved, new, natural grass, another one... It could have happened in practice for all we know. I am not crazy about pre season games either, I do watch them to see how new players will perform. Harbs claims they can still evaluate players in practice without the games. Bull Hockey.

Me too, it would allow them to keep a player at another poaition for a while

Yep, rolls right leg.

Torn mcl, bad, but of the "cl's" not too bad.

Alot of the rushing yards came when the front line was out of position, pre snap, as the broadcast pointed out, major gaps. That is simply a mental adjustment, easily fixable. Levine, while playing the zone well, still struggles in man coverage.

First year with yet another new offensive coordinator, terrible line, no serious weapons. Yes, he gets a pass. If you doubt the importance of the revolving door at oc, talk to an NFL quarterback...

Loved what I saw from the defensive line, both starters and some of the back ups. Judon is a non stop beast, I hope he can stay healthy and keep that motor for a full game. The secondary is still a concern, if it is not a lapse in coverage it is a penalty. Orr took a slight step back, but he still out played Mosley, who was out of position on most of the plays, late, getting caught in the wash, over pursuing. On offense, the rookie tackle showed what we thought; struggled with strong bull rushers, giving up a few pressures, almost two sacks. He did not fair much better in the run game, unable to even cut off his man on back side blocks. It will likely take a full NFL year for him to build the strength he needs. Even so, as a unit, I thought the first team line did a great job against the big uglies of the Lions. The wide outs, boy, nice, real nice group, it is awesome to say. Even IF they keep six, some very good young talent will be let go. Moore continues to show great hands, a nice surprised and shows he worked hard this off season. It is a numbers game though, I think he lands on the practice squad if he makes it through waivers. I think the Reynolds goes there as well. Smith Sr, Wallace, He who shall not be named, Aiken, locks. Then who? Butler has shown growth from last year, is a hard worker, tall & strong, can play inside or outside, Camp, quick, dependable hands & body control, slot man, but can he stay healthy? That is five right there leaving, likely, Mathews, (hardly used this pre season) & Moore, Reynolds. The rest are just camp bodies... This should be interesting. Levine III made another great play, peeling back in his zone coverage, recognizing a route. But how many db's will they keep? Defensive lineman? Most of this team is young, and there is talent there that may take a year or so to reach their full potential. Should be fun to watch...

Broken bone in his back. Shame, super talent, he just can't stay on the field. Looks like it is Dak time!

They were? One season and he is a great quarterback?

He's screwing a franchise and his teammates...For what?
tsylvester replied to vmax's topic in NFL General
Players don't get into another player's wallet... With that said, if anything, if his "plan" works, it opens the door for his teammates to get all of rheir signing bonus up front, contrary to the way the Chargers have done. He is just following his father's lead, who also held out, though in a different NFL. He is a fool for this, what is the difference between millions now vs millions first of thd year? Either way it is millions. It is not as if he will be cut next off season, unless he plans on going Manzel durring the season or after the season. Frankly, I think he will be a bust and was so happy the Ravens dis not get a chance ro draft him.. -
People who want Taylor over Flacco are the same brilliant idiots who thought Anthony Wright was a good, franchise quarterback. Nuff said...
-
Kept him? And what, cut Flaco? When he was here, as I said before, he could not hit then endzone while being in said endzone, let alone read a defense.....

I was just about to post this, good catch papa. I will say this, he is nuts to say it now & 2, they stop play again, either side, I will stop watching NFL games. The overall play is bad enough, toss in the ridiculous rule changes, & this would be the icing on the cake. If I have learned anything over my 50 years on this planet it is that my view is not singular on most issues. MLB and the NHL found out the hard way that stoppage and rule changes lose fans, lots of fans..

He who shall mot be named is off the pup list. Elam to have a knee clean out, out 3-4 weeks likley says Harbs...

Good questions, is he, is he just part of the issue? Is it the decision makers of talent along the line, in the secondary, at wide out? We have changed coaches over the year; offensive coordinator, secondary coach, defensive coordinator, receiver coaches, yet over the years, what has changed at those positions despite changing players too? With Kubs, as pointed out, the line worked well, but the secondary, the defense, the wide outs, aside from the established vet, have not improved much at all. This year, some big names in coaching have joined the secondary to help straighten it up. More new names for players, so far, no way of knowing if the improvements at coaching will help. Sure, this is just two games, pre season games, the level of energy is a bit different, teams play vanilla defense/offense. But if the players can't even hold up to just playing simple zone or man, and, against opponents who likely will not be in the NFL this season, what does that say? This holds up the same for the offensive line. Is it the person choosing the players? The coaches (many are new) the players (some new)? Since this has been an issue for longer than some of the coaches have been here, and there are different names at the positions, maybe it is the evaluater (s).... I am sure the starting offensive line will work things out to some extent. However, the depth is not there, not at guard, certainly not at tackle if one of them gets hurt.
-
True, for the vets, no big deal. For the young players trying to make it in the NFL, a very big deal. Score means nothing to me, play more so and those guys by & large cannot play at this level. Moore impressed me with his hands. In college, coming out, he was a body catcher with inconsistent hands. He has showed excellent hands making contested catches, a bright spot per se.

I worry this team is worse than even I think. Imagine if that defense faced a first team offense for a FULL GAME! There is no depth on the offensive line- NONE. Jensen as to go, he is still just flat out terrible- Yes, I watched him, that line all game. They need to bring in a camp cut, a fee agent, even if they have to guarantee the contract...... The rookie looked good again, though, he still has no power, failed on many attempts to block down on stretch plays away. This line is going to take a long time to get going, one injury, and this offense will be sunk. Even with a healthy line, I am not sure they will be able to run the ball consistently, certainly will continue to struggle with short yardage. The defense, oy.... Where to start? Mosely, still late to holes, biting hard on play fake, or even play action away, having to turn and burn to get to his coverage area or hold the running back leaking out... Orr, very nice, we have found our weak side backer, quick to diagnose, quick to get there and a solid tackler. His coverage is still a bit weak, but with his athleticism, and intelligence, I expect that to improve quickly. We have ONE safety, ONE. Not two, not three, not four; ONE and he is at the end of his career, though still solid. They cannot cover at all, not man, not zone. I know, the hero of the game, Levine playing linebacker in dime, yippie, nice play. But he is slow, can't cover man, and is not a consistent tackler. He is good at the line of scrimmage, but that is all. The secondary is atrocious, Webb can still tackle, who knows if he is going full speed, but he has a long way to go cover wise. Smith has clearly lost a step, this secondary is going to be burned early & often. Some excellent talent on the defensive line, good depth there, four-three, three-four, five-two,, they can run all those fronts. Good foot speed too so stunts and stems should work well.... However, little strength/power or stamina, thus little pressure without an all out blitz. Torch- the new name for this defense.... I also think they keep Josh Johnson over Mallet, as Mallet said after the game; Johnson is fleet of foot and can do things he, Mallet, cannot.
-
Not with this secondary. J Smith has loat a step and can't cover.... The others just can't recognise routes, the backers still bite on everything that moves leading them to get lost in coverage... Unless they can generate a pass rush with four, this could be another ugly season. Time will tell.
-
How do you know what they tried or did not try to get done with him before this latest deal?
-
Moore getting deep against this secondary does not equal a deep threat... IF he does the same in real games, I'll gladly correct my self..
-
It takes two-to tango. Fresh off the record setting post season and Super Bowl win, it is not likely he would have taken it... But then, who is to say they did not try?
-
How much is as much? How manyof Flacco's incomple passes are due to him missing wide open receivers?
-
Every quarterback in NFL history misses wide open receivers, for one reason or another. Pick a play, find the video, we can review why.
