Could the Ravens swindle the Saints
yagersports replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
If you're the Browns, Bengals, Vikings, Titans, Bills, Redskins, Panthers, etc. You're looking at the long run. In what warped world do you look at the long run when you're pushing for the Super Bowl. We've had two trips to the AFC Championship game in the last 3 years. All four years we've made the playoffs we've lost to the team that represented the AFC in the Super Bowl. How in the hell are we not in the middle of a Super Bowl push????? If you don't get to the Super Bowl, it doesn't get much better than the above stated playoff successes and failures. Cmon Napolean, you've got to pop that head out. I have no problem looking at the long run. But you simply don't trade the 2nd best player at the 2nd hardest position to develop on the football field in the middle of a Super Bowl run. You can say we're not, but the playoff and winning seasons we've had back up my argument. You only have opinion. I have fact. We've made the playoffs 4 years in a row. Most of our best players are in their prime or coming into their prime. We've won the division, and we're one dropped pass from the Super Bowl. I'm sure you'll bring up an obscure fact to support a weak argument with a one line response. -
Could the Ravens swindle the Saints

I don't know why I bother. If that's the case why don't we trade Flacco and Rice too. Paint chips are bad. -
Joe is gonna have more TD's from 30 yds out than any other QB this year! :-)

Could the Ravens swindle the Saints

He's needed on the field this year. You trade him and suddenly you have a gigantic hole to fill. How does a draft pick next year fill the hole that he'll leave this year. There have also been reports out of camp that Jimmy isn't ready to be the starter yet. Jimmy is our nickel. So you want to take our 2nd best CB and trade him so that teams can pass all over us? Last I checked our best pass rusher isn't playing this year so we'll need every bit of talent out of our secondary. Honestly ice skating up hill just isn't worth it. -
Figured this was inevitable. I was pulling for Doss and a little for Williams, but with Jones' ridiculous speed he's going to give opposing defenses fits. 3 good wrs, 2 good te, all world fullback, all world rb. Franchise QB. Anyone smell what the Ravens have cookin?

Could the Ravens swindle the Saints

Why would we trade a really good CB, the second hardest position to get and develop in the NFL, in a pass happy league? In today's NFL if you don't have 3 CBs teams get burnt badly. This makes little sense to me. We have an incredibly deep team and now we should trade away the depth? -
Personally I think being a coordinator is a careful balancing act. Especially when you are new to an organization. I believe that the more Cam is here the more successful he will become because he will begin to have players that will suitably fit his system. However I don't think there is any question that Cam did not properly utilize some of the players early on. Boldin for example, this guy runs a viscious WR screen. He's big and physical and CB's just have trouble bringing him down. I can't recall one time that Cam threw the screen Boldin's way. He threw it to our other guys including Housch and Smith. Both smaller guys. All and all, I think Cam has done a good job here in Baltimore. I don't agree with everything he does, but what does that matter because he's had regular season and playoff success. And, the offense has improved since Cam arrived. Anyone what Cavanaugh back?

So what are you saying? I'm just not getting it! lol

Stallworth hasn't done anything. I don't think there was much to be done with the guy. And why would this guy advocate using him after he said he wasn't a fan because the Ravens picked him up?
-
I'm just curious how many kicks on average does a kicker miss during practice. Are these guys pretty automatic during prac? I guess we'll see in the game.

There's a good article on baltimoreravens.com about Cundiff vs Tucker. What I'm interested in, it says Tucker has missed just twice while Cundiff has missed 7 times. (One of which was from 65 yds) However, even 6 misses seems like a lot more than the rook. What I'd like to know. Does anyone have any idea what is a good bar or indicator here? It seems the rook may be pushing Cundiff out, but I'm not sure what's good and what's bad etc.

Right???? Start naming LT's that were outright better. You can't. Ogden was arguably the best LT to ever play the game. Period. I'm not saying an argument can't be made for a few other LT's, however Ogden is waaaaaaay up there. Top three minimum. Ogden did it year in and year out. And......one year, he did it with a mashed big toe. Lincoln Kennedy is the only guy that I can think of that could be considered better than Ogden. The only one.

Like I said Cundiff has owned what he did and I respect that. He didnt make a single excuse and he had the opportunity to do so. He also dodnt crawl into a hole like del greco or norwood. I respect that. It is what it is. Could any of us handle that type of pressure, fail, the keep our heads high? Its not so easy and he is human like the rest of us. If tucker is better then hes better. Bit if cundiff proves to be the better kicker we go with him.

What a professional. The best LT in the history of the NFL and he endured year after year of offensive futility. He dodnt complain. He didnt make waves. He kept pkugging along concemtrating on what he could control. The guy was awesome to watch. He wad some calm and methodical. Defensive players would get soooooo grustrated trying to get around him. It would be interesting to see the stats of de and olb the week after playing ogdrn. Bet they took some frustration out lol.

I would think you are right. This guy has had alot of time fo get ready for this opporgunity. Is Dickson injured badly?

I know the inside joke and I fell for it too lol lol lol.

I think ur 100% right in that area. And I remember the post. Harbaugh has done a phenominal job in stabilizing the org and breeding consistency. I was a Billick supporter but Harbaugh is clearly better. Even without the hardware. -

He says, "Im not part of the corporate world" Ummm you're in the media. I dont care if your a contractor or not. You're part of that world. This guy just reaks of pretender. I do have to admit that he is not as bad as he used to be. Probably because Harbaugh gi es him little to work with. -
Wait.......worry about Torrey???? This guy is money! What makes you think there should be concern?

It's not worth it Crav. He's not gonna be able to come to the realization that it's not Stallworth or Oz he has the problem with, it's the legal system. Instead he'll chase the branches of the problem as if they're the root cause. In any case, I'm with you on this one. He paid his debt and he was unbelievably remorseful. This kind of thing could happen to a lot of good people. I'm sure there isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't think about what happened. That's torture.

I just like to see guys overcome adversity and redeem themselves after bad things happen. It tells me a lot about a person's character. Elway was considered really good, but didn't have the stomach for the big game. Most guys would have quit when presented with three lost Super Bowls and a rebuilding effort in front of them. Instead, not only did he rebuild with the team, he got with a QB coach and redefined his decision making process on the field to allow him to play at a high level late in his career. I understand where you're at Crav, but I'm pulling for the guy to redeem himself from errors on the big stage. The talent is there. If the coaching staff thinks he's a fighter, I'm on board with that.

I do think that Jones can be a good addition for this team. I'm also concerned that he's not mentally focused enough to come up with the big play. Playmakers however are very important for a dynamic offense. Putting Jones next to Smith just seems like it's going to give the opposing offense's fits. This should allow Dickson and Boldin more room underneath. We could be a very quick striking offense this year. We haven't really talked about Rice in the passing game at all! Yikes. That shifty little guy just breaks tackles everywhere!

Joe is gonna have a monster year. Our DYNASTY starts this year! :-) Its our time now. 2012 through 2014. The Ven Dynasty. Empoer Flacco will be the first QB to three peat!!!!

There's no doubt this is true. Joe rarely changes the play at the line of scrimmage. We've all seen it.
