  1. Wow, no shit! What has changed since then, though? The "missing big man" has now become Jordan Williams, and Terps are actually taking care of business against (most) weaker teams. lol though... I still mean what I wrote. nice initial pairing of #5 MD vs. #12 UConn in Lunardi's brackets...
  2. I agree, Malkin might be considered better by most, but I really like Staal. He seems to always have his best wits about him, knows how to play both ends of the ice and is great in short-handed situations, has range and skating ability and general common ice-sense that seem to elude Crosby and Malkin. I wish the Pens would work Staal more into offensive sets, but he's so good defensively I guess they don't gamble with that. But I'd think Jordan Staal would be gone once contracts are up for renegotiation...
  3. Let's put things in perspective. USA lost to Canada in the men's and women's Olympic GOLD MATCHES, but the USA men's junior, U-17, U-18 teams have won championships. The talent pool of young American hockey players is strong and growing into NHL and Olympic level talent. This is not your father's 1980 American hockey! GO USA in RUSSIA 2014!!!
  4. I thought this was a great college game, especially how Duke was not really Duke, kinda taken out of their plan for lots of the time. I hate the "USA" chants against Vasquez, moreso that the Terps fans lower themselves to that level; don't want to be called out on air like WVU fans for taunting and throwing stuff onto the court. Greivis certainly has a knack for bringing out the ire in his opponents' fans, but he has really been great, saving his better performances for the most important times; good to see Juan Dixon in the stands to enjoy it (I still read my 2002 commemorative SI edition of Terps' championship). Maybe the years have gone by too quickly lately but it's hard to fathom how Vasquez has climbed the stats ladder at MD, I guess I payed much more attention to Juan's ascent. This recent incarnation of the Terps looks pretty solid going into the ACC tourney and beyond, providing Vasquez keeps his edge and play on (like those Championship terps went the way of Juan.) Looking forward to every game.
  5. Yoda sez, "Strive hard to improve the receiving corps, the Ravens do. Aaahh!" Nice move! Jedi like...
  6. should we feel weird for having Dan Dierdorf call our team out when they're clearly playing badly?
  7. I go to 3 to 4 games each year, but usually for free. I can't see paying for a game that gives us a continually struggling team for a continually rising price (even beyond cost of inflation?)
  8. yo supa fly the site is nice, you gotta nice thang for Kardahsian that's a sweet pic
  9. won't we have problems landing FA with the CBA issue looming? Draftwise I agree with WR and TE but also look at best DB available, maybe look to trade up for someone's (extra) #1, doesn't SF have a couple #1's?
  10. Oher has had good time on the left (blind?) side so some versatility b/w he and Gaither would go far. I like the generally helpful and eager attitude the young linesmen seem to have.
  11. Sigh... another loss to the Colts :\
  12. Not to be combative here, but that's my real question, how can it be a penalty when it wasn't called (originally)? that begs the question of course, that the refs would assume a penalty should have been called and then use replay to call it. I'm only asking because it seemed so weird to me for them to use replay to call a penalty. Hope I'm just stupid here, I just don't get it.
  13. As a WVU alum and NFL fan, I have weird feelings about this, outside of the basic sadness I feel for such a talented young player losing his chance to complete his battle back. Henry was not a model player or citizen (as wasn't PacMan Jones) at WVU nor in the NFL, but he did get a second chance and seemingly used it for the better, but his lifestyle prevented his ultimate resurrection. But he was a talent (as is Jones) that could have done well with better support, discipline. Gary stills was another raucous WVU player that would eventually make a living in the NFL because he learned to settle down (with KC then eventually Baltimore, on special teams) but one wonders what it takes for thug-like football players to actually pass muster in the present day. It is a shame that his end came this way when he was still within earshot of making it back; who could have heard?
  14. Maybe they shouldn't win it all, but the Jets sure made a step today. Sanchez looked great. Hmmm... a rookie QB and rookie HC winning in the playoffs? Sounds familiar... Despite Cedric, Jets D looked ready, unlike Ocho-Choko, even with Reevis playing off the line for the second half.
  15. Sorry to disappoint you, just in Glen Burnie. But dreamin' of the day.... My wife is borderline hydrophobic, and hates the outdoors, I'm just waiting to get her and our daughter out on the beach....

Saw 'The Wrestler' last night, wow that was depressing stuff. Mickey Rourke has had his share of those I guess (Bullet, for instance) but really all my youthful thoughts about wrestling were confirmed in that flik, inlcuding the whole 'razor blade in the wrist' thing, backroom battle-scene orchestrations, steroids, and how inglorious any comeback can be. Good movie nonetheless, gratuitous fleshy scenes aside...
  17. Fair enough, I wasn't aware you could enforce any penalty after the fact via replay. just curious. Hope it doesn't creep up in more interesting situations.
  18. Didn't that dude Dante Hall make good (but not hella) money for what he offered in KC? I think Cribbs is worth a long look, especially for teams that low-ball and overturn their return guys alot and get inconsistent results. Special teams is a legitimate 3rd wing and returners are moreso now an engine of that vehicle.
  19. Thanks, my daughter's 5.75 yrs now, she is now quite aware of football, or at least how it matters to me. Much more fun with another viewer (my wife isn't a sports fan.) I'm happy though that my wife asked today "how are the ravens doing" heh-heh, so there's some unity.
  20. I'd like AL to reestablish some tradition in CFB; sorry McCoy had to go down though. Takes something away from the match, but 'Bamas defense is poppin'.
  21. I'll try not to, thanks.
  22. I'd be questioning it's femininity, or at least androgyny
  23. Okay, so what you're saying is maybe refs can stop the clock to retroactively call penalties? That's the point of my post, not Flacco's efforts per se. I hate the idea that the refs can use replay to make retroactive penalty calls, that could transcend to all sorts of weirdness (pass interference, whatever). that was my question really.
  24. Bets against the spread is Vegas' game; the pool I'm in is that 'simple', picks ATS each week, and it ain't that easy. weird stuff happens, but it makes sense oakland would beat b/c they've been tougher at home against good teams, dallas had a vendetta on philly for last year's end? betting on single games is a smart man's deal, I only won my pool b/c I could balance overall week goofs v. 'gimmees', like GB covering at AZ with Warner out and GB running game working
  25. "oxymoron" if "callers" are considered educated; "redundant" more appropriate if "callers" are to be considered generically as commonplace "Joe-six-pack-knuckle-draggin-reactionaries". sorry, I'm a nerd; e.g, isn't "recta" pl. for "rectum"? still, I don't mind Flacco's recent malaise, though I'd definitely like to see them let it go next week. they don't have the tools though, and our run game is fine for this coming circumstance. it'll be a grinder I guess; Pats fans on their sites are divided b/w picking apart our 2ndary and going run-1st so I guess there's a symmetry here...
