I was at the game and Joe had open targets...some were better options than who he chose. He just was not throwing the ball well. I don't know what I want to see changed because I think the Ravens will get better as the season progresses. I mean...This offense just needs more games and experience playing together to develop. They will get better as the season wears on. The line is reworked and the guys are getting familiar with their roles and the man next to them. Yanda showed he's back after missing training camp. The 8 straight runs to his side were a statement. He was mauling anybody in front of him. Oher was too...he's getting used to the right side again and that's not his natural position. Grubbs was out...he's a great LG...this toe thing could be bad. So that leaves Gerode and McKinnie, who are new, with the job of anchoring the left side...they definately have a learning curve. They'll get better. Then there's Joe and the passing game. Only reps will develop this to a higher level. He and his receivers need time together to get their timing and intuitive reads downs. They are new together. Smith, Williams, Doss, Evans...Joe was working out with Mason and Heap this off season. He needs time to develop chemistry with these guys while Cam needs to identify how to effectively use each of them. Same goes for Pita and Dixon. It will happen. The trick is to weather the storm. On defense Carr and Smith need to return healthy and ready to go. Smith has to develop his craft at the NFL level. This will take time. The hope is that eventually this team is more consistent in their performance and execution in November and begin to peak in December. Then the hope is that they hit the playoffs on a roll. One thought this morning. The Ravens offense was almost as bad as the Jets. So far this year it's been a great offense game 1...asleep at the wheel week 2, great week 3...stumbling, bumbling week 4. This hot /cold inconsistent performance is what get's them knocked out of the playoffs the last 3 years. Win one...don't show up. They have a lot of season ahead of them to fix this and I think they can...but it must get fixed. Once again we have a great D. Let's not waste it John and Cam. This is your best shot at rings. "Please Schmo...not in front of the kids."

We should be used to ugly wins by now and I'll take it too. 3-1 going into the bye...1st place in the AFC North....chance for both Jimmy Smith, Carr, Grubbs and Evans to heal up and maybe put this team back together. The shocker for me was how well the secondary played...it was awfully thin and they came through. Friggn'n defense was outstanding. A thing of beauty to watch....if you're a Ravens fan.

Tsylvester,They are probably under the same orders for Matt Ryan. Speaking of Jackson...Boomer who I thought was a "hate on all things Baltimore" has the Ravens as his Super Bowl pick! Speaking of the media...did you read this?.... I'm fine with how the Ravens are viewed nationally these days...they have to earn respect and they are getting some...a win tonight will move them up toward that 'Elite' catagory but you and I know this team does have weaknesses like everybody.

Crazy start to the day with the Lions, Bengals and 49'ers all comming back and winning when it looked like they were done. Bengals got a gift spot on that ball. Steelers definately have weaknesses all over the place.

Man would I love for the offense to set the tone tsylvers. My biggest fear is of it going in the opposite direction with the Yets catching the Ravens napping on the first few plays of their opening drive. That's the only way they can win...jump out to a quick lead...take the crowd out (which would be hard as hell)...and force the Ravens to reach to make plays and catch up. It would be soooo sweet to sit in my purple seat like I did at the Steeler game...relaxed....chatting away...in my happy place... However...something tells me I'll be chewing my fingers off.

I liked the opening day uniforms. Raph had to see the writting on the wall with all the empty seats in the stands and recruits he couldn't land. Yow was edging him out.....and as a coach you're hired to be fired. That said if he was coaching the Terps they wouldn't be stinking it up like they are now.

To me the timing is everything. Rex has to catch the Ravens napping during the first few plays of the game. Get a quick score. Get the crowd quiet a little...get the Ravens offense to press...get a turnover and then they control the whole gamre. It's his only and best shot.
