We're about a play or two from being 4-0 losing the first 3 games in the last 3 mins. That said, with our secondary thee's no guarantee that the Clowns will lose except for the fact that they're still the Clowns. Last week they tied SD with 2 mins left. Rivers marched down to the 20 yrd line for the winning FG but he missed. We're not talking Tucker here but I expect SD to back several brinks trucks to his front porch when he's a FA. But wait, while they missed the FG a Clown was off sides. I mean he was in the back field before the snap. SD gets the ball on the 15 and makes it this time. They're still the Clowns, alway choking like on the drive and fumble. Ravens need to get a big pass rush from the front 7 which they got in Pissburgh and that took some heat off the secondary.

He'll bulk up like so many others but with what, 100+ players in the league and he's nominated for player of the week - well, that's a great pick at this point. He had 2 sacks vs Squeelers in Pissburgh and that's great. Mosley won Player of the Month 2 times in rookie season and just missed DROY and he's been a great player. He needs to bulk up too. Carl Davis has also impacted this year as a rookie. See Davis thread. These are all great picks thus far.

Z is up for rookie of the week. Pretty good draft pick we got for Ngata. Maxx was the other player we got for him.

Well, the doubters have fired up the wide receivers. Ok, just show us the money. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ravens-Wide-Receivers-Fired-Up-By-Doubters/9b0d03b7-edc2-48af-a8a4-cdb2f217c30f

HARBS TO T-BIRD: You have 6 months to live. T-BIRD TO HARBS: Are U Sure. HARBS TO T-BIRD: Can't you ask better questions? HARBS TO T-BIRD: I got a second opinion from my brother in SF. T-BIRD TO HARBS: You mean Michigan. He lives there now. HARBS TO T-BIRD: Good point. T-BIRD TO HARBS: Well how about Jack, what does he say? HARBS TO T-BIRD: He doesn't know but advises you to get another doctor. T-BIRD TO HARBS: Since time management isn't your strength and you've never called a game, I'll get another another doctor.

He has a chance to play according to their website. Gillmore suffered a calf injury against the Bengals and sat out the second half of the game. On a short week, he didn’t practice or play against the Steelers. Now Gillmore “has a chance this week,” according to Harbaugh. www.baltimoreravens.com

Good point. We beat him in the Wild Card game up there not long ago. In fact, we beat them last 3 of 4 games with or without him.

Carl Davis had a brilliant rookie debut, see thread below, and now another rookie comes up big - Zadarius Smith. Kevin Byrne described the Ravens war room on draft day and said Ozzie groaned when Squeelers picked Dupree above him. Apparently, Oz had Dupree high on his board too and would have grabbed him if he dropped. He then took Z. Smith later. Smith is the guy who made Dupree go in college. The guys on the boards were posting that. He was like their Suggs who enabled Dooom to free up so often. So Ozzie misses out on Dupree but got the man who made him good and was rewarded with 2 sacks in PiTTsburgh no less. Carl Davis had a great game in week 1 and now Z and with Journigan, the future looks good. One Denver fan said after their victory that Ravens had the most stout defense we'll see all year. So Ozzie isn't missing with these drafts except Elam but as I keep saying all the top safeties taken in the draft have been bad except Eric Reid of SF. It takes time for MOsley, who just missed rookie of the year and these guys to develop and the future looks bright with the likes of Journigan who had a great playoffs last year as a rookie and now Z, the man who made Dupree go. BTW, Dupree who was drafted in the first round also has 2 sacks thus far. http://www.nfl.com/player/buddupree/2552289/careerstats Oh, and I forgot. Z was one of the guys Ozzie drafted with the picks he got for Ngata, Maxx was the other one. FROM FILM STUDY Za’Darius Smith had his first 2 NFL sacks on consecutive plays. He played a total of 19 snaps and the Steelers averaged just 1.9 yards per play when he was on the field. Smith lined up inside on the majority of his snaps, but he had 1 sack each from a standing and 3-point stance. Both sacks were slow developing: –(Q3, 7:20) He lined up standing at LOLB and was initially blocked by Gilbert and then the pullingRamon Foster took over. Smith moved inside after several seconds and was too quick for Foster or Gilbert to react. –(Q3, 6:37) He lined up at DT and was blocked effectively by Cody Wallace as the center gave some ground over the course of several seconds keeping squared up. Smith then shed Wallace and took down Vick, who was out of options in the pocket.

OK, Thanks Crave. That's the problem with board and writing on them.
-
Last year his Bears scored more points than any team in NFL and his receivers this year are like shit compared to those except for SR who is now injured as is Campy and Perrimen.
-
Man, some of you guys are just hard. Give credit where it's deserved. Jimmy had him covered. Look at the tape. If he caught the TD you'd be whining again. Nothing is picture perfect. The Ravens won in Pissburgh again which is like the whole season to us and you're still bitching.
-
LOL - I just read on the Ravens site that Flaco walked up to the coaches and said just let Tucker win it now.
-
FOR THIS after so many wanted to off him last week but some of us aid he'd be OK and wasn't 100% yet: Turning Point Of The Game The Ravens defense stepped up when faced with a fourth-and-1 from their 33-yard line in overtime. Cornerback Jimmy Smith, who had a brutal game less than a week earlier against Cincinnati, was close in coverage on the Steelers’ final incompletion, giving the Ravens the ball with good field position.
-
During our SB 35 season and the team went 5 games w/o a TD, Billick gave the game ball to the punter for being the best offensive player even though we won w/o a TD.
-
Tucker Time is always a great time. He seldom misses. Sam Koch, his holder who also has been with the Ravens longer than any player now with 10 years, said on radio they were going to kick anything within 60 yards. Tuck knew he'd made it. The ball faded a little to the inside of the goal post which was exactly planned according to the wind. A lot of technique and wind conditions is factored into to each Tucker kick the same as Stover who studied weather reports every day of the city where they were going to play. Sam is a pretty good kicker himself who during the game last night punted from his own goal line and pinned Piss on their own 30 with a booming kick.
-
Vick took something off the ball as he was pressured and rush. That's why. That's the problem with a new QB and WR. They don't have the timing down as with Big Jen every week. Ravens pass rush took pressure off their secondary which immensely helped.
-
Yes, we can and did beat Vick.
-
We've been posting here since camp that Campy is a keeper if he can beat the injury bug and that was a big if. He had a big TD last night and can run the ball. Last night he was wheeled out of the stadium in a wheel chair with back spasms. I get them about twice pr yr and can't get out of bed. They hurt like hell so I can't imagine players playing with them but a shot of cortizone from the team doc will do wonders. I would love to have some but keep a bottle of Aleve with 600 mg pr pill next to my bed. Aiken had another TD and 77 yards last night while SR was injured and had 23 yrds so that's still 100 yrds between them. Aiken picked up big time last night just as HARBs said he would during the off season. Nobody complained about Marlon during his rookie year but pressed too much last year and now. There's just nobody after SR and nobody out there that's any good who can help out except Aiken. But the schedule gets easier with Clowns coming up and we can be 2-1 in the division and it gets even easier in the back half. Ravens can still make the POs at this point. As I kept saying those first two losses were on the road where you aren't suppose to win anyway but more importantly vs non-division foes as far as the losses count. HARBs always brings the team along and makes them stronger in the 2d half and for the POs where they always win at least one. BTW. Scott Garcieu said Trestman called a good game and kept the pressure up throwing on their secondary as advertised and thus Aiken's yardage above. Also, Nickie Boye made a nice catch. The defense turned the pressure on vs them and that took some pressure off our secondary which won the game. Remember the play in the corner of the end zone and the ball fell just short of Antonio Brown. It was low because Vick took something off of it as he threw it because of the rush/pressure. Squeelers were exhausted in OT but so were our guys on D but they were in better condition and won.

Who's practicing and who's not// Rookie TEs step up

If he's still out there than no one wants him, not even Ravens. He's old and worn out. -

Perriman was originally scheduled to return in middle of October so they have a schedule. If he's well by then they'll have him for the 2d half even if it's a losing season. Which FA would you want? Who's out there. BTW, we're not the only team with injuries. As you know Big Jen won't play Thurs, Luck, Brees and now Romeo are all injured. Brees and Luck are still playing and not doing so well. Luck has run out of Luck in Indy. We still have Joe who only has one weapon to throw to. What else is new? -
Perriman who returned to practice last week left on Monday after feeling discomfort in his knee. What else is new. Monroe returned to LT. Gilmore missed practice MOnday with a calf injury which is bad for the team given their receiving status. He has 2 TDs in his 2d year replacing Pitta. He's also second on the team in receiving and being targeted. While he missed 2d half Sunday, Maxx and Nickie Boyle who hurdled a guy while running and is from whittle bittle Delaware had over 55 yards between them. Yup, the game has passed Ozzie by. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Whos-Practicing-Whos-Not-at-Steelers/63c3904a-3337-412a-8ba8-aa995cbc0eea

105.7 fm was just blaming Jimmy saying he made the play to Green too easy. Webb is done and shouldn't be playing at all. Perriman finally returned to practice last week but just tweeked his knee again so no one knows when he'll play. Joe can't get it done with Marlon and Aiken. He has no weapons after SR. Only Marsha and Rogers are the elite QBs left.

Jamal was followed by Ray Rice, another great runner who paved the way to their second SB. In fact, the 08 draft with Flacco and Rice is one of the best in NFL history along with the JO and Ray Lewis drafts. How many GMs get one much less two. CJ Mosley just missed winning DROY and had a great rookie and sophmore year. He makes mistakes but is still learning. He's bettern than Shazier drafted by Pissbugh. Also, Gilmore is turning out this year catching two TDs in one game. Polian the GM who drafted Manning and built the Colts and just made the HOF as a GM doesn't have as many rings as Ozzie, same as the other GM who went in with him. Ozzie should have at least 2 more rings but Billick blew it losing to Indy in 06. That was our SB but instead of runing Jamal to wear them down he kept passing and McNair throws the pick up the middle. They left DEM WILLs all alone in the end zone because they knew the pass was going up the middle. Then there was the Lee Evans drop in NE just 25 secs from the SB and they still have a chance to tie the game with a FG but Billy Goat choked because of rushing it due to a faulty score board in NE. Phil Savage even said Billick blew the POs in 03 with 8 pro bowlers we gave him. Ozzie should have another 3 rings with all the talent and a great like Ed Reed only comes along once in a life time - same as Ray and JO. Ozzie's downfall was not getting a QB and wasting all Ray's defenses all those years. He reached for Boller who set the franchise back while NE got Wilfork with the Boller pick but nobody is perfect. Ozzie would have gotten his second SB ring if Jamal Lewis doesn't go down for the year in the first day of camp in 01 but Shannan Sharpe always said we should have won the SB anyway but the team lost its swagger. Look how he signed guys like McCrary and Adams the same year after bringing Goose in whom Marchibroda knew in Indy and guys like Woodson and he drafted JO when the owner and all of Baltimore wanted Lawrence Phillips who went to St Louis and then promptly to jail. Look at guys like Ellerbe who helped win SB 47 blitzing KAP forcing him to over throw Crabtree who was nicely covered by Jimmy Smith. He found Adelius Thomas at the bottom of the draft who became one of the best ever. Look at Ngata who helped win the SB coming up the middle always taking up 2 or 3 blockers and always opening someone else. Even after looking bad in the Boller draft Ozzie still got Suggs who was one of the greates LBs to ever play and likely will be in the HOF. Suggs follows Jamie Sharper who also left for FA. Look at Hartwell, another find who left for FA. Ozzie has had some of the best undrafted finds in history in Priest Holmes and more recently Hurst who started as the first undrafted LT in a wild card game and he won with him. Tucker, one of the best kickers in history was signed as a Fa. Koch, one of the best punters was signed as a FA. Wagner was drafted in the 5th round and last year was rated as the 2d best RT in game. The right side of the Ravens line was rated the best in football with Yanda, another all pro and Wagner. I think he's injured this year. BTW, none of his assistants fared well after leaving the nest. Phil Savage failed miserably in Cleve and his pal Kokinis wasn't there as GM long enough to change his underware. The Shack lasted a few years in JAX before getting fired. That's another reason why DeCosta scares the shit out of me taking Ozzie's place one day.

Seriously man, half a Jimmy is better than a whole of anyone else they got. They would have been 12 steps behind Green. Anyone remember last year the TD Green scored vs Chykie Brown, I think it was when he batted the ball up into Green's hands with 2 mins left in the game after Ravens pulled ahead. I think it was Brown or AsA. The biggest lesson learned from SB 3 is that you never start a game with your best player on the bench as Shula did with Unitas who had a sore elbo all year and was rusty coming off the bench in the second half. Johnny Sample of the Jets said Colts would have won if they just started him in the 3rd qtr. Unitas said he only needed 1 more qtr. Any coach will want his banged up starters playing instead of a fully operational backup of AsA over Jimmy. You want Melvin or AsA covering Green? Didn't think so.

The day Ozzie retires is the day we will regret. DeCosta is being over paid now to take his place. He makes more than most GMs today to keep him here. If OZ were fired, 30 teams would line up to hire him with an open check book. Look at last year. It took NE who would be the SB champs to use some well timed trickery and the bending of the rules to beat a beat up secondary in NE in February after Ravens D gave up 2 leads during the game. He brought in Melvin who wasn't even playing football at the end of the year. He wins with Melvin for the first time ever in a PO game in Pissburgh and with and undrafted rookie LT starting, a land mark event since that had never happened before in a PO game. Pissburgh fans said imagine us starting an undrafted rookie at LT. Ozzie is the best drafter this side of Bellicheat who groomed him in Cleveland. Dont forget he won the SB within 3 yrs after the Ravens came here. He won a recent one and fielded the most dominant team in the past 12 yrs in football this side of NE. He made the POs 5 years in a row and 6 of 7 years and will likely miss it this year. I posted a link a few years ago that Ozzie still has more players playing than any other GM. I think it was like 82%. Also, look at all the draft picks he gets from the comp list. So many players are so good they get their payday elsewhere and Ozzie gets another draft pick. He had 11 players this year and next yr too I think. After trading Ngata he got a 4th and a 5th from DET and one turned out to be Maxx. He used the pick to trade up to get him. I think Zadarius Smith was the other one. DeCosta scares the shit out of me. I told him at a Nest 1 meeting a week after the Oher draft that he f*cked up the Oher draft. Oher and Kruger are no longer with us and the Ravens didn't even try to sign them. DeCosta said Oher was a better player than Nicks whom I wanted and Joe needed weapons after losing in Pissburgh again for the POs. So Nicks goes to the Giants and 2 SBs and was the go to guy at the end of their first win. I think Oz is 57 and I'm hoping he sticks around til he's at least 65.
