Tornado700 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 According to confirmed reports from the Baltimore Sun.Yeah, that'll work. Quote
vmax Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Sounds like desperation to me. He's 37 years old. Quote
Tornado700 Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 Sounds like desperation to me. He's 37 years old.The Ravens have a long tradition of not hiring through desperation. If they didn't think Brandon still had some gas in the tank, they would've passed on him. The Denver game showed me that Stokely can still play a mean slot receiver. Quote
Robjr83 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Anyone else from the 2000 team still playing? Quote
oldno82 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I can't believe they'd do this...this guy should be retired. Even when he was younger he was injury prone. Quote
Tornado700 Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 Why is it a bad move? Without Boldin and Pitta, et al, Brandon Stokely, although not the best receiver in football, does make this team a little bit better. Not worse. He'll make a positive difference this year. I am sure of it. Quote
tgann68 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 2012 StatsAnquon Boldin in 2012 had 921 yards and 4 TD's Brandon Stokely in 2012 had 544 yards and 5 TD's Boldin wanted $6 million for 2013Stokely will make a fraction of that Ozzie just bought some insurance;smart move. 2 Quote
Robjr83 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Oz must not be having faith in Doss and company. I don't mind bringing him in but he's not our future. Give Williams, Mellette or someone else a shot. Quote
vmax Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Use Stokely as a measuring stick. The Ravens receivers who can't step ahead of him on the depth chart are not NFL caliber receivers. Quote
tgann68 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Exactly what Oz was thinking I am sure. He knows Stokely can produce lets see what the rookies and 2nd year men can do. Quote
thundercleetz Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 At the very least Stokely is a solid slot receiver. He knows how to get open and will be a good outlet for Joe on third down while Doss or Thompson figure out how to work effectively from the slot. Quote
tgann68 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 ^Exactly. He can work the middle and sidelines and will help make up what was lost with Pitta going down...Its a great pickup up of a veteran wr that can obviously produce. Quote
Oldschool739 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I hear you all, sounds good, but not at all excited over this move if it even happens. there were rumors that Collie was on the trade block also.... But then I'm sure Harbs and Ozzie have their finger on the pulse of this team and will do whatever they can to continue to make it better.... Cause we gonna REPEAT !!!! Quote
colincac Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Never hurts when you're just signing him for the minimum, but we do need to make sure to keep giving the kids the time in practice. Can anyone explain why we'd sign Stokely and not Brandon Lloyd? (assuming Lloyd would take the minimum in this discussion) Quote

GrubberRaven Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 This is pointless. Way to old. So's your schtick... 1 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Boo Hoo. Ozzie seems to be following my ideas. Ed is gone. They are getting younger. They are fixing the D like I have siad they should. Also hey Cam is gone. 1 Quote
oldno82 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 It says reams about about our current receiver crop that they felt they had to make this move. Quote

He's worked so had all these years and all he has to show for it is just winning another Super Bowl, so he just gave up and will do what you want him to do. 1 Quote
Oldschool739 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I thought we were going younger, what is goin' on....Maybe ED's injury is worse than we know !!!!Or maybe they are gonna use these guys to help teach the peeps Caldy's system.. Gooooo Ravens !!!! Quote

Once they said tear and hamstring, regardless what Harbs says its going to be 4 to 6 weeks out, and its an injury where he cant keep his body in football shape, tearing a hammy is like losing your thumb.
