vmax Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I know the game is almost 2 weeks away but I read this and thought, "How will Lamar and the offense handle this?" New England's four interceptions of Sam Darnold on Monday night boosted its season total to 18 and its six takeaways increased that sum to 22. The Patriots allowed just 2.9 yards per play against New York, 154 total yards in total, and gave up just 12 first downs, four of which came via penalty. New England's shutout of the Jets was its second on the season. They've allowed 48 points through seven games (a suffocating 6.9 PPG clip). Their point differential (plus-175) is a team's most through seven contests since 1920. In 92 drives, New England has given up but three touchdowns. The Patriots are 7-0, and though their seven opponents own a combined record of 12-32, the fact remains: New England owns seven wins and zero losses and is one of just two teams left in the league without a defeat.........http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001068437/article/what-we-learned-from-patriots-victory-over-jets Quote
tsylvester Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Yes, yes, the big bad Patriots.... Ewwwwwwwwww oooooo..... Palease.... Ok, they are dominating horrible teams, not only is Darnold inexperienced & unproven, but the Jets's line is horrifically bad. Did you see those picks? He threw them right to them... Same for their other games; bad offenses, horrible teams is what their stats are built on this hear. We've talked about it, how bad, historically bad the league in general is this year. So many injuries and retirements, holdouts, young players playing.... They do not have a gimic offense, pretty straight forward. Brady is a statue and their line, while good, is average at best. They allow rushers to come up the field, then they use that momentum against them, & push them into each other, creating lanes. Pretty simple. Get to Brady up the middle by timed blitzes into the gaps their linemen create.. Boom, sack, incomplete, interception. Their routes are always the same, crossing routes to create natural picks for Elderman, deep crossing routes, flag to far post with two underneath routes to occupy , fool the safeties. An occasional 9 route, but mostly dink & dunk with their quickness. Homework, the Ravens defense just needs to study; word of the game; study-buddy. Quote
varaven45 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 The Pats are awesome no doubt. But you can (as did the Jets Leveon Bell ca 75 yards) run on them. As Lamar and Co did in Seattle, we need to pound the rock and keep Brady off the field. This time though with a larger dose of Edwards, Ingram and Hill.Otherwise, we have little chance for success in this game. Lets hope the 12th man is raring and ready at M & T. Should be lots of fun ! Quote
tsylvester Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 That's right VA, the Pats have smaller linemen & backers, for quickness not true power. They use the fly to the ball mentality, tackle by numbers like wild dogs. So how to you have success against them? With a true power runninng game, with backs who fight for each yard, linemen who gang block, with misdirection to take advantage of their quickness and use it against them. This offense faced a defense like the Pats last year, San Diego, it did not go well. However, that was last year. This year, both backs are healthy and run angry. Lamar is more comfortable, the line gelling. I like the Ravens chances on offense; Defense, well, the Pats just got Sanu from Atlanta, he poses another threat. This should be an interesting game.. varaven45 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Another FWIW - here are the teams/QBs NE has faced since week 2: Fins - Ryan Fitz Jets - Luke FalkBills - Josh AllenSkins - Colt McCoyGiants- Daniel Jones Jets - Sam Darnold Doesn't exactly put the fear of God in you right ? It will be very interesting and telling to see Browns & Baker fare this Sunday. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 The Ravens just need to: get on the bus Gus, make a run plan man, don't need a decoy boy, just listen to me. Get on the Gus bus, hand it to ingram man, it's easy you'll see... My apologies to Paul Simon for ripping his song.... Quote
vmax Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 A Ravens win will shock the NFL world and me.That's why I was so excited about the win over Seattle.BUT!>>>>>I'm getting ever closer to where you are. When the Ravens play the Patriots I always feel they have a good chance to win.Yet the Pats D is only giving up 6.9 points per game which will smash the 2000 Ravens record.Unless! Lamar and CO lay Hell on them. Quote

It wouldn't surprise me one big if Sanu was released from the Pats after our game, Billacheat is like that. Hopefully the D builds on their performance against the Hawks as gives Brady fits all afternoon. We got to get Brady on the move ,his first 7 games have been like practice sessions and he's wearing a red jersey. Added bonus. Game is at the ATM. Love our chance at home. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 I feel confident it will be competitive at least. Was not expecting the win in Seattle, but didn't think they were worthy of all the press they were getting. I'd feel more confident if our WR core were more consistent. We're one Lamar injury away from mediocrity... Quote
varaven45 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Agreed on all the above sentiments. The consensus is we/ the league needs to run on NE- agreed 150 %.If Lamar attempts to get into a shootout w Brady, we get torched. Doubt that happens; just saying. And, as pointed out by Grubber, Lamar needs to play smart and stay upright. He's now our franchise ! I'll be watching the Browns-Pats game with huge interest to see how Nick Chubb runs on the Patsor whether the Browns and Baker lose patience and attempt to chuck it around the field - which would be fatal. Regardless, we need to be/get healthy - Jimmy, Hollywood, etc.- and secure a FA pass rusher (Beasley, Miller, ?) before next weeks deadline. Our D needs to show up big time and suffocate Brady, Edelman and company. Should be dang fun at M&T on 11/3 ! Quote
GrubberRaven Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Brady is no MVP this year and I don't feel like Sanu is their missing piece...they're grasping WRs. Don't want to be wrong about this, but their D is going to have to beat us. I think our D can handle them... Quote
varaven45 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 As Bill Bellicheck says, "we'll see". All kidding aside, I'm looking for a slobberknocker of a game. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Think we'll pick up the special teamer that NE cut for Bethel? Quote
tsylvester Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Doubtful, he has no other use. Bethel could atleast play a little corner if needed, 3 ints returned for touchdowns... NE is also grasping for offensive linemen, their line is not that great, I really do see the Ravens defensive line getting pressure on Brady and getting him to the ground; legally..... Now will the db's be ready for the quick, hot route? A 3 yard slant, 5 yard out, and NE loves to screen, regular and wide receiver, something this defense struggles with..... Quote
tsylvester Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Josh Gordon to IR, glad he won't be an option, too bad for him though, such talent, so many troubles.... Quote

tsylvester Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Makes no sense, sure, comp picks are tradable now, but they took the lesser player. He was a reach when he was drafted and now he would go undrafted. Unless, of course, they are trying to make a trade for a pass rusher for Smith plus a drafts.... Quote
tsylvester Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 Study buddies team up! Linemen, with linemen, backs with backs. Now everyone switch! The Pats can be run on, run over, run around. Now, receivers team up with tight ends, their coverage is good but beatable with precise routes and a few tough catches. Lamar, sit with Roman, don't beat your self. You see their defense is built on deception and the offenes making mistakes; penalties & turnovers. What a joke, they are who we think they are: fake. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 Db's make sure to study the tapes, Brady is scared to sit & wait, . You mighf have to watch your hands you see, you will also be battling the referees.... Linebackers make sure to drop deep at first, to take away a throw from third down to first. They can't run the ball at all this year, so the defenive line should pin back their ears. Quote
oldno82 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Yup ref’s will be rough on our d. But if they take your advice we will prevail. Quote
