OutsideRzAcE Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9077033/reports-ed-reed-sign-houston-texans Sad day for me, I don't think the Ravens seriously considered bringing him back. Good luck Ed it will suck seeing you in another Uni. Quote
colincac Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Will miss him but he wasn't worth the big money he wanted anymore. Thanks for the memories Ed. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Good lord no Lewis, Harrison, Reed, Wallace, and many more. A new era of the best rivalry in football starts now. Quote
RavenMad Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 It was depressing enough that we are losing Ray this offseason but to now lose Ed as well really hurts. 2 of the greatest Ravens ever gone in the same offseason Quote

vmax Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I am so gratefull to be a fan of the team that he played for all these years.Ed was nothing but a highlight reel. The best playmaker that I have seen. Even in the down seasons Sundays were sweet.I'm happy for Ed that he got his Super Bowl trophy with the Ravens. Remember his game agaist the Indigenous Person?Brunell was the QB. The Ravens offense was inept as usual. Ed forced a Brunell fumble and ran it in for a TD.He blocked a punt and ran that in. He snagged an interception and ran that in. Only Superman does something like that. He was incredibly good. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Im going to miss hearing the REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Thank You Ed Quote
colincac Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I was hearing offered 2 years 8 mil. Apparently his Texans deal is a maximum of 3 years 15 mil. Not sure what the base salaries are. Quote
RavenMad Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I think I read somewhere that the Texans first offered 3 years $12m and even that was too much for us according to some reports. He went for 3 years $16m with $7m guaranteed. That was a good deal for Ed and it would have been a bad deal for us if Ozzie had matched it. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 finally the passive agressive stuffis gone. Quote

My son (Skins fan) and I were there. After Reed's TD, there was dead silence at Fed Ex. Awesome game ! Long ride home for my son. Quote
vmax Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 LOL!They are getting to know Ed. Reed Stiff-Arms Houston MediaUpon arriving at the airport in Houston, Ed Reed was greeted by reporters. But he wasn’t interested in talking. “Reed refused to speak to reporters: ‘Not tonight. I'll catch y'all tomorrow,’” tweeted the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain. “We chased Reed all the way to parking lot after waiting 3 hrs and wouldn't give us courtesy of even stopping. For 34 years I've met All-Pros and Hall of Famers at airport and can't remember any of them refusing to comment.http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Late-For-Work-322-Elvis-Dumervil-Mulls-Ravens-Strong-Bid/a284e042-07de-4f67-95a4-9f4725668b86 Quote

papasmurfbell Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/26/ed-reed-didnt-fully-understand-the-business-of-the-nfl-until-now/ Ed Reed didn’t fully understand the business of the NFL until nowAfter leaving the Ravens and signing with the Texans, Ed Reed said this offseason has been a wakeup call for him in learning about the business of the NFL. Reed said on 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore that he believed after the Super Bowl that the Ravens would be able to keep the nucleus of their championship team together. It was disappointing for Reed to come to the realization that the Ravens were undergoing a major roster shakeup. “I didn’t expect this. Did I want it? No, I didn’t want it. But do I understand it? Yes I understand it,” Reed said, via Sports Radio Interviews. “My heart really felt that we had an opportunity to do some special things because we had a core of people. I honestly didn’t know the true nitty-gritty of the business side of it. I didn’t know all the possibilities that would happen and transpired the last few weeks or so. I didn’t know all that would happen the way it did. That put things in perspective as well to let you know the team is kind of going in a different direction. Not rebuilding but in a sense rebuilding, to make different moves and it just wasn’t economically the best situation for me.” Reed has handled his departure after 11 years in Baltimore with class, but this is a disappointing time for him. Every star player eventually comes to the realization that as he gets older he gets easier to replace, and for Reed, that realization came when the Ravens let him walk. Now he grasps it. So when he kept demanding a new contract he couldn't get it but now he does. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Not rebuilding but in a sense rebuilding, to make different moves and it just wasn’t economically the best situation for me.” Who are you kidding Ed, and trust me if you think the Texans are going to pay you 15 mil dollars, well than I have a nice parcel of land to sell you, your choice southern Fla or Louisiana. Basically the Ravens offered you what the Texans guaranteed you, and how is it not economical for you when you were paid quite well already and just maybe it was economical for the Ravens. Quote
