Hey, I loved seeing it, loved the long, time consuming drives in the first half all done with passing. Loved seeing Joe finally comfortable in the pocket. Even the pick was not entirely his fault, he expected Wallace to stop, Wallace thought it would be a tight rope catch on the sideline... We have been screaming all season for them to exploit the middle of the field, the seams, they finally went there. BUT! The Phins were in zone most of the game, and their linebackers split apart wider than a plumber's crack. They made it easy. How often have we seen Raven receivers running wide open this season? Rarely. The line held up good enougb, but then they were mostly short drops, quick passes. They still can't run the ball and no, dont give me stats based on 5 or 6 carries... You can't live on 50 passes a game. We shall see next week if this line can hold, if the receivers can get open, in time, if they can stop killing drives with penalties.

Wait for it. you said this in another thread. #you not laying an egg, its Fins football in December# according to you the Phish stink in December so the blow out was nothing to write home about, right? Lol
-
If the offense can play like they did today every game, 10 wins is possible. But then, not many defenses play as poorly as the Phins did today...
-
We are not worthy oh wise one. Wow, an 8 + minute, 18 play touchdown drive. Wow...like being constipated for 3 weeks and finally breaking free...
-
Once again the penalties almost cost the team the win. Stupid ones at that shall we say. Once again the receiver dropped a big play ball (tough catch granted). Once again a receiver (tight end) failed the read the defense properly and come back to the ball to sheild the defender, almost resulting in a pick-six. Once again the line left men untouched on their way to Flacco. This is not a playoff team, just making the playoffs is fools gold. This team needs quality in the draft.

First time a kicker hit 3 50+ yard field goals in the first half whiling wearing underwear for the first time. First time this season the offense could actually run a screen play, while singing opera. First time Shane Falco's offensive line blocked for the punt team, and gave the Bengals "the business"... ooooh and CRAV had his first granchild born while the Ravens were playing wearing underwear! Congrats old man.

Yep, he would be the first one fired were I in charge with Pees holding the door for him on his way out. Enough with the injury excuse, with the "we were in most every game" and false stats built up against crappy teams. Clearly just changing the offensive coordinator is not working, 5 have come & gone and this offense has only worked for one season. That was when Kubs had control of the line. This defense, secondary mostly, has stunk for years too, even after changing position coaches; clearly they were not the only issue. So the eyes have to change, the people with most say in who gets drafted in how these players are coached.
-
Yes they do. This team always seems to run out of gas late in games, later into the season. This is a coaching issue- conditioning. As for a single play, I shall call out several, all stopped because of penalties away from the play. In each of those series, they if they keep the first down, the positive yardage, it leads to scores. Scores change momentum, add pressure to the other team. On defense, just stopping that drive that went on to a touchdown after a 1st and 30, also changes the game.

He is the type of receiver the team needs badly. They have had several chances to draft his skill set and only took a flyer on a player who was always hurt in college...and is now on ir (or released with injury resettlement) ..again
-
I saw him on at least one play, crossing a route Wallace was running, seemed odd...
-
I see 3 wins maximum, split with the Bengals, should beat the Phins, and maybe the Iggles... But then I wouldnt be surprised if they lost all six or if they won 4 of the six.

Just watching the plays, the route combinations & concepts of other teams compared to what we see from the Ravens. is remarkably ridiculous. I almost understood it before Smith sr and Wallace got here. But Smith is still elusive, and Wallace does have speed, those two alone should allow for more complex route combinations and specidic routes designed to get either them or another receiver open no matter the coverage. I know the poor line play handcuffs them to some extent, but not to high school level routes. I would love to talk with Smith sr to find out what the issue is; coaches, players, both?

Ray Lewis says Flacco gifted but not passionate

Lewis apologized today for "putting Joe's name in his mouth" saying it won't happen again... -
Sorry, Joe is right, they could have and should have won that game. The line stunk and couldn't block consistantly. The receivers cod not get open consistantly. All, per usual. We keep hearing how fast 2 of the receivers are, yet they can't get seperation deep.. Pita sucks, plain and simple. He is slow and can't block. He is the new age turn style taking the place of Harry Swayne. Running backs are leaving yards on the field even with a piss poor line. Their routes are terrible as well. Yes, Joe misses on throws, hurries some, but either the players need to play better or who ever choses the players that can't play average football needs to go, and go quickly. But Joe is not the one holding all the time or false starting, or lining up off sides or committing a personal foul every game. I never thought this team was going to be very good, but never thought this bad to watch.

After they converted 1st and 30, the game was over. As usual, the one area with the most depth, ran out of gas after the 2nd quarter; the defensive line. 3 drives, 38 plays, over 15 minutes, and 17 pts. Says it all. Add to it over 100 yards of penalties, mostly against the offense, and we see why the offense only scored 7 pts in the 2nd half.

Dez would be the least of my concern. Cole Beasley is likely to kill them from the slot.

It is on a Whitlock show, that tells you all you need to know. -
So the Raven defense does not handle mobile qbs well. They struggle to cover good slot guys, and big, fast receivers. They struggle to get preasure on qbs who stand behind good offensive lines, and they do not handle the screen game very well... All of those things Dallas excells in, add to that Whitten, not as fast as he use to be but still great at getting open, the Ravens struggle with good tight ends. That is just the defense. Now the Dallas defense has really been playing above their heads, they are not that good. Their pass coverage is slightly worse than the Ravens, their pass rush, hit or miss. They do handle the run well, not that it means much since the Ravens cannot run the ball... This might be the game I am right about, time to watch the grass grow it will likely be more enjoyable. Cowboys by 17.

I have "caught" them skipping the kick off a few times... In some games they don't come back from break until a few seconds before the ball is snapped.... Add to it, horrible announcing crews who either do not know the game or are apparently watching a different game than they are calling! Add it all up and you get the nubers being down.. Take this Broncos game against the Saints. They leave for a commercial break, run one play thwn break again for the 2 min hal time warning... All of 5 seconds of football in now 4 minutes.
-
One of thr many reasons the play has gotten worse over the years and thus, another reason to not watch is all the commercial breaks. They do not allow teams to develop a rhythm. Add to that, it is just plain annoying for fans. The breaks have gotten longer and far more. A break after a score, then one after the ensuing kickoff. Heaven forbid there is an injury on the first play back from that same break... Oh the league is looking to make changes, but I won't hold my breath waitinghttp://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-nfl-tv-ratings-bears-spt-1113-20161112-story.html

I find it well timed that the citizens of San Diego voted against paying for a new stadium; well done left coast peeps. I am sure, quality of play factored in-in some way. Stadiums are a giant waste of tax payer dollars.. Pony up NFL.

I never said every receiver did I? Not every route is a timing route, not every qb throws on time, look at Rogers this year, far off his normal game. But when receivers are not getting to the top of their routes on time or getting seperation on time, you start to not trust them. For decades we have talked about these receivers getting their timing broken from press coverage, this is the main cause of qbs holding the ball too long or throwing picks...
-
Quite untrue my friend. It seems to have started since just before his injury last year, through this past game, at least to my eye.
-
Looked to me like Joe is not throwing timing routes, not anticipating his receivers getting open or where the window of the zones were. It appeared he was just throwing to the openan. 31 of 40 is awesome, but for less (barely) than 300 yards not very food. So is it the way the plays are called? No timing routes, or is it Joe not trusting the receivers to be where and when they should be? Take the first pick, Smith not only gave up on the play. but did not get to the spot where the ball was, and should have been, thrown. On another deep route by Smith a series earlier, perfectly thrown ball but he also stopped the route short and ended up diving for the ball.. Was Smith having issues finding the ball last night? Is Joe right not to trust his receivers? Is this the issue slowing down the offense? Keeping the yards per play down?
