  1. a move that shouldnt be made, but I suppose has to be made. His age has caught up to him, not recovering from injuries quickly, injuries often, those muscle injuries are a killer and happen often after 30.... How long do they extend him? 2 years, give what, six up front, prorated out over 3 years, having him cost instead of $12 against the cap 5 or 6 mil for each of the next three years? Not bad if he can stay healthy and be consistantly productive......
  2. Most teams don't careabout sexuality either. Their issue, if we want to call it that, is the circus that comes with it. Not just the normal media and thier questions either, now you will have to listen to the likes of local tv media, today show and their ilk, opie and her's, opine on this and question he players/ team execs. Incidentally, it is also why Tebow will not get another shot in the NFL, not because he is gay, nor because of his average talent, but because of the circus that comes with his spirituality. But the media will not say that, they will jump on the; Sams wasn't drafted or was drafted too low, or cut because he is gay bandwagon.
  3. Stay away from Evans, his attitude is going to get him into trouble. Also, he doesn't handle press coverage really well, not woth the risk to get him so high. Ebron is likely the pick in the first and they can get a very good receiver in the 2nd like a Jordan Mathews, my favorite, he plays faster than he times, adjusts to the ball in the air very, very well and he has strong, good hands. He is also pretty good with fighting off press coverage, had to face that a lot over his career....
  4. There were a lot of really good players in the SEC who are not good enough or just average in the NFL. I watched a ton of Mizzu games over the years, he was not very consistant and doesn't have many moves as a rush end. Not very good in coverage either....
  5. too many very good receivers, tall, strong hands, fast/quick in the draft. I highly doubt they go after a receiver in free agency.
  6. He is nothing like Lewis, in fact, he will be lucky to make an NFL roster. There are a few thousand players with his talent and skill level, a 3rd round pick at best before the announcement and that was if he timed well and caught the eye of some one. If not, likely a later round pick. Now, who knows, could this be his way of trying to force a team to draft him? Similar to that basketball player for the Wizzards a year or so ago, claiming no one would sign him because he was gay. except, of course, the truth was, he stunk.....
  7. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/darren-sharper-charged-with-rape-in-california1-021414?gt51=39002 I am surprised that it was him, but figured it was only a matter of time before an NFL player turned out to be a criminal in this manner. The odds, based on society, were just too good. Just goes to show, these players, the hollywood stars, are just people, not heroes who should be worshiped; one never knows....
  8. Phat, drunk & stoopid has paid off fer ya Max! ~
  9. They couldn't fix Oher, or anyone on the line, not sure they can fix him, if he can be fixed. He may very well be one of those players who are just very good in college but not good enough for the NFL.
  10. except he did throw them prior, as I said, when he had a few experienced receivers.
  11. Yes, every team, every team, has what is called hot reads, a favorite of Caldwell as well. He has designed plays to draw a blitz from an area and throw to said area. Since he does enjoy using those plays & the Ravens did not run then this past season nor much the season before, this means that the receivers, who continued to run improper routes, let alone hot reads, were not doing well in practice with them either. See, if you can't do it in practice, you can't call the play. Again, it is pretty clear if you know what you are watching....
  12. No, let me see if I can explain this for you. He is blamming Joe, he does not think Joe can run a west coast offense, doesn't think Joe is a good quarterback, used a lack of hot reads and over use, in his opinion, of dump off passes as his proof. I am saying the reason for no hot reads this past season and even the season before, to some extent, is because the receivers then, could not make the proper reads in practice, thus, those play calls, by Caldwell, were never used. I never said the receivers could not or would not work in a west coast system. I will ignore you other post since it clearly comes from the crayon forum.
  13. Not qute Sherlock,,, Look up Foster's numbers, his receptions under Kubs, as I said earlier, some plays are designed to go to the running back, even in the west coast offense, 40, 53, 66 receptions from 2010-2012, even last season, injury marred and 3 qbs, he had 22 in 8 games..... Thanks for playing, it has been fun....
  14. Yes, when the Ravens had experienced receivers who could read defenses. Even though Rice lead the team, does not take away from my assertion; if the recievers can't make the proper read, the offense goes no where. A lot of those receptions for Rice were designed plays, but the average Flacco basher would not know that nor comprehend this fact. As for the same arguement comment, no, there is quite the difference between what I am stating and what rasta is; sorry if it goes over the heads of some folks....
  15. Yes, my bad, I was speaking of the 2011 season with Housh and Evans, but had specifically, the 2012 playoff games for some reason... There, were the Ravens used a lot of "west coast" routes to make a run, only to have Evans drop the game winner in the AFC championship game. Today, there are many terms over used by pundits and fans, from elite to west coast. The very thing rasta is debating, the team maybe not having the players to run a west coast offense, mor eimportantly Joe not being able to run one, is the issue. He simply points out Joe, but the important part is having receivers, ends, who can read the defense properly. If they don't, it matters not who is the quarterback; westcoast is a timing offense. There are ways to beat the westcoast and the main thing is press coverage, breaking up the timing of the receivers. Something this team struggles with. So it would not be Joe, but the receivers.
  16. I guess you missed the quick slants, the crossing routes, the hot reads by Evans and Housh and company.... but then, you apparently miss alot when all you focus on is Joe's footwork..... You are barking up the wrong tree here.... Oh and since you might not be old enough to remember the 49ers under Montanna and Young, they threw a lot of short passes ans screens to the backs, it was a staple of, wait for it, Bill Walsh's system, you know, the West Coast offense....
  17. I guess you didn't watch much of the 2012 season, huh? They used a lot of 3 step, and less drops with Joe utilizing the hot read, mostly to Evans, whe he was healthy. The difference between that season & this past one is that the Ravens had rookie or young receivers this past one, who could not make the proper reads in practice, so they would not risk it in games. Hot reads are not just up to the quarterback, but also and especially the receivers. This past season and even the Super Bowl season they used more of the quick outs, 3 step drops, and wr screens, catch & throw, or step & throw... Make sure to pay attention more to games...You are showing your lack of understanding of the game and even the team with each post.
  18. Kubs doesn't run a true west coast offense, next.................
  19. Yes, but true, look up Engrams record, starting coaching what, two years ago? This is a team with young receivers, he may or may not be a good coach, but he would be best suited with experienced receivers.... Time will tell.
  20. Grain of salt..... Wisconsin has always had a great running game, going back before Hammock's time there; it is their line, their system and who was the last Wisconsin runningback to make it big in the NFL? Be more than a back up runningback? That shows you it is their system, their line.... Being a former player, such as Engram, does not make one a good coach, or even a coach who can develop a player. Engram was barely an NFl quality receiver and has very, very limited coaching experience. It is more likely the receivers continue to struggle, he never was able to get off of bump & run coverage.............
  21. Yeah, it was pretty evident from the start to anyone who understands the locker room, or even how close friends joke around. His, Martin's, little trip to the ER was a ploy by his parents, lawyer/agent for a lawsuit and to bolster his case. However, since the release of ALL the texts between the two, Martin is looking more & more like the liar, the baby. He can blame his agent all he wants, but he, himself, has stated that Incognito was being abusive bullying him. So, I wonder if the race baiters will now back track and apologize to Richie, I doubt it.
  22. No, comp picks are used during the draft, but cannot be traded. The slim number of picks the Ravens have lead me to believe they will trade down. I know they are counting on the comp picks being good, Ozzie has mentioned them a few times. Even so, they need a little more help than they have picks and this is a deep draft in the areas they need help. You are thinking of the Supplimental draft for college players cleared to be drafted after the draft is over, usually because of injury or accedemic reasons. Yes, that "draft" is a waste, rarely is a decent role player found, let alone a good one.
  23. Bill B, Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers are playing in the Pebble Beach Pro AM next week, gosh, the Pats and Packers are gonna suck, shame on them for not working hard.......
  24. Again, I stated it in relation to you and a few others complaing about not hearing from him on this new hire, not in relation to him working hard or not. Just because our local media has not asked for his opinion on the matter does not mean he has not given one, nor that he is not in talks with Kubs. But go ahead, bash away on something you know nothing about. As for marines, yes, we see it every day, bet we see it today during the supe bowl, the folks not being able to see their families because they enlisted and are serving over seas.....
  25. right? I have to explain it? My kids comment was in regards to why Joe may not have made a statement or been on television, radio, etc about the new hire. Heaven forbid he have a vaccation away from fans and media and get some family time. I mean, plumbers, dock workers, even police get vaccation time, I guess people on tv shouldn't have a life outside of their jobs.... Does the season start tomorrow? How on earth will Joe be ready, o ma gosh....
