  1. I don't think anyone could disagree with this. It's just hard to visualize that sometimes. My father always said it best: "I don't get paid any more or less when they win or lose, so why should I care?". Sports are entertainment of the highest accord, because they put us in touch with the performers above any other medium. That's just not always a good thing.
  2. I don't think either Smith is worth the money someone will spend on him. I'd prefer someone down the depth chart and/or a draft pick to either of them in a starting role at this point.
  3. Well, I was 14 then. PS: let's consider as well that the "this is Flacco's best year" argument no longer holds weight, because his 2010 season was better in almost every measurable statistic.
  4. If you look at the standings, I got pretty lucky all year long (fewest points against). I won't complain though. Great year guys, I enjoyed it
  5. The Lions went through something like 17 or 18 DBs in 2003. We have a long way to go and our lack of depth in the first place is the reason why the situation looks so bleak.
  6. It was crazy to watch all afternoon, especially because I was sure the Bengals and Browns were going to win at about 3:45.
  7. I also think that once they determine the shape and color of the specific pills he took (as if they don't already know) and that information gets out, they should move to re-suspend him and have the Ravens subsequently cut him. Has Haloti's wife Christina apologized for this yet?
  8. This is all part of the Ray Rice karma and the team deserves every ounce of it, just as they deserve every viewer/fan they lose as a result of one more player being moved into the clear "idiot" category on this roster.
  9. Just saying, did you not listen to yourself when you typed the "450 yds and 3 TDs" part in relation to this team being dangerous?
  10. Yet this is likely still Flacco's best season statistically (2010 is the only argument to the contrary) and Wilson's worst. That's the point.
  11. I don't think many people have the "win = in spite of Joe, lose = because of Joe" mentality that we had with the many QBs of the past. I think that's honestly what separates him from the others in a logical view, other than the SB win, of course. The issue is that, at the money he is being paid, the ratio of games lost because of him or won in spite of him is way, WAY higher than that of just about every other QB in the same price range, from contracts signed either before or since. That specific fact is what makes him the most expendable of all the franchise-esque QBs throughout the league, given the cap hit increase. That is why the discussion as to whether or not to keep him is at least legitimate.
  12. Rasta's a tool and a troll whose posts don't deserve the server space that they occupy, but he's right about this. A contract isn't considered by the year in which it's applied; it's considered by what it is. And Flacco's sucks. Because he isn't playing up to it, frankly. If he were playing at a Pro Bowl level, at the top of the stat charts, and the team was running away with the division, not many people (Rasta, papa, etc. included) would be bitching about the contract. But the fact of the matter is that he's a middling performer and poor leader on a team with a losing record in its own division and nervous about a game versus a 4-6 NFC South team. Play semantics as to the definitions of the title, story contents, etc., but we all know why it was truly written.
  13. Dee, go away are you kidding me? A rookie WR scoring over 60 points shouldn't be allowed.
  14. Lmfao. I actually spend a lot of Sunday evenings with my girlfriend's father watching English rugby. I can't say that I enjoy it the way Europeans do.
  15. I think Hogan will be a breath of fresh air, mostly because politics aren't exactly his thing. That's the best compliment he's gotten, and I'm excited for it. I also appreciate that he has little interest in social issues, since they don't seem to be where the state is struggling, and instead has a weirdly radical set of fiscal ideas. I think he's the best chance the GOP had of keeping someone in office for more than one term.
  16. Neither Clowney nor Elam is a draft bust. That word gets thrown around more than QBs who are "elite". Clowney will be back and will be awesome, especially playing with who they have down there. Elam simply doesn't yet play to his own strengths or the strengths of the schemes being run, and that is a matter of coaching only.
  17. I will never pay a dime to watch a sporting event. If it is not on local television, I won't bother. That is regardless of sport, and I'm probably a bigger NASCAR fan than NFL fan (and half of each season of NASCAR has been on TNT/ESPN since 2007). I think it is ludicrous to spend the amount of money that is required to watch commercials nearly 40% of the time, all in the name of justifying $120 million salaries for average players and $1.4 billion dollar stadiums that are already paid for in large part by my taxes.
  18. Flacco threw for his five touchdowns faster than any QB in history or whatever a few weeks ago, and now look at how we're talking about him. Lesson here being: don't get your panties in a bunch about Ben and the offense. We both know better.
  19. Because the offense is a big reason why we gave up 43 points.
  20. I would personally prefer Billick and Boller, because at least they were aware of and working on their faults. There is zero evidence of that from either the coach or the player over the past six years.
  21. And you really shouldn't have, looking at Miami/SD. Good job though haha
  22. I know. I'm joking. I'm just tired or watching Torrey be a one-trick pony who's not even particularly good at that one trick.
  23. Since Torrey can't catch or run routes at all, maybe he can play DB?
