Hey Max the point is you adjust your offensive philosophy to to match the personnel you have not the other way around that Cam did it.
-
The story on Osemele as a prospect was he was much better at Guard than on the outside. And you're right he was great in preseason at guard,
-
One more thing: Cam has always shown an inability to adapt to the other teams defense during the game. Finally, does anybody notice that in DC they set up the offense to take into account RGIII strengths. I don't like Shannahan but what his OC has done with the Redskins this year is pretty special.
-
Cam had to go but it sure would have been better in last year's off-season rather than now...I think. Would've given time to install a new offense (that would actually include slants, routes over the middle, and WR screens that work). Still, a move like this sure shakes things up and a shakeup was needed. Maybe NOW they'll play McKinnie at LT, move Oher back to RT, make Osemele the RG and put Williams in at LG. Still not ideal but better I think than the way its set up now. Joe must like this but now the heat is really on him to produce---no more excuses. If he wants a new contract here that pays him top money he has to perform like a top QB and not just have 'potential'.

Thats how I see it.
-
This team has more fundamental problems than just an INT or fumble. They hurt but the lack of overall talent in the positions I mentioned above help create close games where the margin for error is a knife blade.
-
I know all about Cam too, Max but I'm not letting Ozzie off the hook after the dismal quality of our OL, DL, LB, and S positions. He's had more than just one year to work on most of these problems and it ain't getting done.
-
I agree but that's a lot of holes to fill in just one year.
-
Some of this has to be on Ozzie too. We knew going into this season that LT and LG were empty. Moving Oher from RT didn't result (again) in Joe's blind side protection being good. We also knew that Suggs was hurt, Ray was old, and Ed Reed was too. I don't really see where Ozzie got us the necessary parts. And T Cody is a total loss...another Ozzie decision. I'm not calling for his head yet, but he has to show me something after this season is over.
-
Maybe we can trade for him?
-
The way I see it, Joe has proven he's not good enough to carry a team. He might be able to take them to a Super Bowl someday but he will never be a top 5 quarterback because of his inconsistency. I wonder sometimes if he's a top 15 this year. That plus the defense has big holes. These aren't the Ravens of yesteryear. The window has closed. We need help on the DL, LB, S, LT and LG. I don't know what to do about Joe. I don't think all these problems can be addressed in one off-season.

Rex was a very competent DC. As a head coach all of his faults, egomanic in particular, have gotten magnified. While I respect him as a DC I don't want him back here unless he's feeling properly chastized. You may recall he was a loose cannon when he was here too, punching out a neighbor who's son didn't get along with Rex's son.

All so true and has been a major irritant to me. NO SLANTS to the TE or WRs. In fact, hardly any passes over the middle. Maybe our guys are afraid they'll get creamed there?
-
This is it right on the nose. This team is ready to tank the last 4 games. Its quite possible because they're damned lucky to be at where they are this season. The only winnable game I see on the horizon is possibly the Deadskins but I think we could easily lose that too. The defense is too beat up. Gee we got 3rd stringers playing CB no wonder guys get open. The defensive line and linebackers don't generate a consisitent pass rush. The offensive line never really solved their LT and LG problem (that's on Ozzie). Joe is not elite. Ray is underutilzied. I hate to say it but I agree with what thesteelhurtin said about a deal with Flacco quite possibly not getting done. What he wants to get paid does not measure up to his overall performance. Could be a turbulent offseason.

Max, operations take a lot out of you. It will take a few weeks to feel normal again. You did the right thing.

Its a real shame Art didn't make it while he was still alive.

Gee, I remember when the big monkey on Joe's back was the 2-deep zone. -

Good article and analysis and I can't disagree. Receiver routes and play calling have long been the reason I've criticized Cam in the past. -
The problem is (long run) I don't think we can either.
-
Best quote on this I've heard so far.
-
Well Yager you might be right. I've never been a fan of Cam or the routes the receivers run. Unfortunately, we're stuck with him for the rest of this season.
-
I don't think the Pats can beat Houston or the 49'ers. If they do, then they deserve to have the homefield advantage.
-
I don't know what's wrong with Joe. Most of the time he looks good to great. Other times he looks lost. I can't figure it out. I'd say he doesn't adjust well to adversity but then look at how he helped to bring the team back. And as for Ray Rice---can't say enough good things about him. A really dynamic player who has earned all of his new contract.
