The Texans just might be the best team in the AFC this coming season.

With all the round one talent supposedly available in round one we should at least be able to replace Moses without too much trouble. Meanwhile it's hard to say what Ronnie Stanley has left. He might make a career resurgence or have another disappointing year. Either way I'm glad they reworked and downsized his contract and loaded it with incentives.

I don't feel as optimistic. Who's going to pick up the pass rush with Clowney gone? And how is the offensive line going to be better? When you lose 20 players there's a lot of holes to fill. And it looks like nearly all of the 'fill' will be coming via the draft.

Steelers Writer Declares Ravens' Super Bowl Window Has Closed While some pundits have said they expect the Ravens to take a step back next season, the prevailing opinion is that they'll continue to be a championship contender. As noted in yesterday’s Late for Work, oddsmakers are projecting the Ravens, Chiefs, and 49ers to lead the league in wins next season. However, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey contended that the Ravens' Super Bowl window has closed. (Bailey is also the deputy editor of "Behind the Steel Curtain," an SB Nation website that covers the Steelers.) Bailey cited the Ravens' losses in free agency from last season's top-ranked defense as the main reason for his opinion, specifically mentioning inside linebacker Patrick Queen (Steelers) and safety Geno Stone (Bengals) defecting to two of Baltimore's AFC North rivals. "The defense will still be good, in all likelihood, but expecting them to repeat what they did last year with the mastermind of it all departed, as well as two key defenders — that would be very naïve to say the least," Bailey wrote. "That was the best defense they are going to have for the foreseeable future, and they didn't capitalize on it." Bailey also noted that the AFC is loaded with talented teams. "I understand the fascination with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, but look at how stacked the conference is in terms of teams and quarterback talent," Bailey wrote. "Teams like the Texans are getting better, and C.J. Stroud is a budding superstar. The Titans are going all in to build a really good roster. The Jaguars have a special quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. Justin Herbert now has Jim Harbaugh, and we'll see how that goes. The Dolphins will be in the mix. The Jets may be fun with a healthy Aaron Rodgers. "In the Ravens' own division, the Steelers are much better on paper, and Jackson is 1-3 against Pittsburgh in his career. The Browns were just a playoff team, and the Bengals will get Joe Burrow back and be right back in the thick of things. And, of course, there is Buffalo and Kansas City, who always seem to be playing deep into January. For how great the quarterbacks and teams are in this conference, some of them won't ever get over that hump. And for as talented as he may be, Jackson fell short in the best opportunity to get to the Super Bowl that he may ever have. And in a crowded AFC, there is no guarantee he'll get that chance again." ----From the Ravens' Website.

Clowney's gone to Charlotte. 2yrs $24 million with incentives. Guess you can't blame a guy for wanting to go home.
-
Sigh...I'd would love to get Mims or Guyton but I'm afraid they'll be gone by pick 30.
-
Good moves.

A half-assed result. What's a fine and letter worth to the team that commits the foul: peanuts. Either keep the damned thing or ban it by penalty.
-
I don't think Paul would be a reach unless there was a 5 star prospect at WR available.
-
I don't want to see that either, but I can't make sense out of what role they envision for Jones.
-
Per ESPN the Ravens were due to host WR Michael Gallup today and WR Josh Reynolds tomorrow.
-
Well, I sure hope we're not counting on him. Hopefully, this was just a one year 'prove it' signing for a reserve spot in case they have to move Mekari to a regular starting role.
-
If there is an O-lineman who's on our radar and within 4-5 spots where we're drafting, we have to take him over a WR and CB. Not saying we don't need the last two but O-line has to have priority.
-
They just brought Arthur Maulett back on a 2-yr deal.
-
While I don't see him taking a pay cut, I think he will restructure. We'll see.
-
It's getting to the point where I need an accountant to understand all this at my age.
-
That was my first impression too, but they voided the last year of his contract so maybe they didn't want him back for some reason or maybe that pissed him off?
-
They lost Jonah Jackson in free agency.
-
Looks like Zeitler's going to Detroit on a one year deal.
-
Yeah, I thought the option was only applicable to the original drafting team.
-
Well if they don't like what they're seeing with Wilson, they insert Fields and see if he can run with it. But I think all that is not going to happen. I think Wilson still has a few more years and as you said, Denver is still on the hook for most of that money.
-
I didn't know that the 5th year option on Fields would follow him to another team. You learn something every day.
-
I think the Steelers will just wait until about mid-season or a few weeks after that to determine who their quarterback 'of the future' is going to be. If Wilson can still play at a high level, they'll ink him to a 3-4 year deal, and they'll let Fields become a free agent. If they feel that Fields is playing better or has the potential to do so more than what Wilson shows on the field, they'll commit to Fields long-term. Strategically, it's a pretty good place for Pittsburgh to be in.
-
Tyler Huntley to Browns...no great loss there. Whaddya think of the Wilson/Fields moves for Pittsburgh?
-
Somehow I missed it when it was posted. It's not there now. How does he become a free agent after next year?
