When Oher, Harewood, Birk, Yanda and Osemele took the field I went "Woooa". Another sneaky, surprise move by a Ravens offensive coaching staff that is not going to make the conservative, safe call. They are going for it. They got young over night. "The New Age" group at 26, 25, 107, 27 and 23. You don't do that in the NFL. Teams want to start the same 5 guys every game. It's about continuity, communication and playing as one. You don't do that to your franchise QB. Do you? It takes forever for a new guy to win a spot. That's what happened for "Project" Harewood. After 3 operations and 2 seasons on the bench he won a starting job. I was impressed by his post game comment that he was very comfortable in the new offense because he was so well prepared by the coaching staff. Physically he's imposing with a wing span of a 747. Hats off to them! The no huddle really helped them They did not have to hold blocks for 587 seconds. The D couldn't substitute which takes fresh legs out of the pass rush. When you have McKinnie and Williams on the bench you now have quality depth. How long Birk can last before Gradkowsky moves in is anybodys guess.

Ed Reed is King of Ohio... It seemed to me while watching at the stadium, that Dalton had all day to throw in the first half and into the 3rd quarter. Peas threw all kinds of players and combos into the front seven trying to find somebody, anybody, who could bring the heat. The secondary covered well, but no secondary can hold up that long without giving up completions. Pollard was just lights out. He set the tone and attitude. I can't say enough about how much he means to this D. Ray had a good game...an inspired game and Ed showed up. It's been awhile since I saw Ed take one to the house and that play electrified the House. I thought he would get a pick because Dalton is not accurate on anything deep and he had guys open. Kemo, McPhee and Kruger were neutralized. Green Ellis ran well. 91 yards, 5.1 ypc., so the run D was weak too....by our standards. What was amazing to me is they only gave up 13 points. I don't know what to make out of that. Is the D strong or the Bengals that weak? The D took over and dominated as the lead grew as the ticking clock put pressure on the Bengals offense to get something going in a hurry. Then we saw the Ravens of old.

I saw the same thing. All in all the Ref's were not that much different than the regular ones.

12 for 35 for 118 yards and a 3.4 ypp. 4 INT's and a 5.1 QB rating. Maybe they need to admit that they fucked up and call on the Real McCoy. They gave up 456 yards but Vick did his best WeDone impersenation throwing 4 INT's to keep the Brownies in the game. I think this is 5 in a row Opening Day losses at home. Along with winning football, this was not seen too...

There's nothing but football! Don't know how I lived without NFL Redzone! It's insane! Just saw 24 TD's....

I don't know if they can overcome this.... The O's will need an incredible effort from the pitching staff to over come this down the stretch. Another nail biter and great win last night.

Don't know what to say...just...Wow!

I guess the Bmore County govt has solved their financial issues

Damn good thing that we have Freedom of Speech and a seperation of Church and State or Burns would have us living in Nazi Germany. He needs to ne reprimanded and voted out of office for trying to use his power to strong arm an American citizen and for his lack of understanding of the Constitution which he is sworn to protect. -
I'm in Roanoke for a long weekend visit with my daughter who is in school south of here (she's a big O's fan) so all I have is my phone/internet to follow everything. I used "My ESPN" Live game and was jumping on the bed in the hotel down here. I could feel " The Yard. Crav kept me posted with many spiritual comments during the game. Read thr AP article on ESPN...read it...it gave me goosebumps. Talk radio has to be terrific for O's game today. It's been a long time but this is how it used to be following the O''s. Believe it. It 's been great following this season with everybody here. Keep the fires burning!

O's on a mission! Love it!.... Last nights shut out is more evidence that the O's are true contenders because their pitching staff is lights out.

Better for them to eat that money than the Ravens. He was a beast in college. Loved watching him.

Ba...ba....ba....BALK! 6-0! 5-2 Bucs over Hankies. oh...7-0.

This was soooo wierd... If somebody's cutting your pay you are going to ask why. Then dig this from McKinnie... He friggn'n knows he's over paid for what he can give. Nobody who's got game caves like that. When McKinnie got the news his agent said to walk out and leave that he'll be in demand. The agent shops...gets low offers...or no offers...and they end up signing. He still doesn't know what bus hit him... It's late in life for him to be learning that creditors and employers don't give away money for nothing....he might be learning now. Not sure. All he had to do was get into the best shape that he can at this point in his career. It's cost him at least $1 mil and nobody's sure if he gets it.

4-0 O's up in the 6th....it's friggn'n raining in the dome. Reynolds is on fire.

Gorrer got cut because they needed help at safety and signed Ihheigbo. Consadine looked bad all pre season. I don't want to see him playing defense. I have to take a great leap of faith as far as the pass rush is concerned. The Ravens had none this pre season. They stayed vanilla...played a lot of man coverage and Williams looked like shit and Smith didn't impress me. Both forgot how to turn around and find the ball. It's worse with Williams. It seems he can't turn. He might be distracted by feeling extremely stupid for leaving the amount of guaranteed money that he was offered on the table. The leap of faith? Pees is one blitz happy dude and schemes like crazy. He brings it from everywhere and the Ravens will have to do that to generate pressure. Keeping Kindle and signing Adrian Hamilton is just a sign that they are desperate to get pressure and not confident with who they have to do the job.

"It puts a lot on the quarterback,'' said Flacco, "but that's something I really like.'' The Ravens don't need the no huddle to beat the Steelers.

They don't. But you have the long forgotten skills to handle following two successfull teams. I'm getting mine back and discovering new avenues. Stay glued to the radio. We now have the advantage of the internet (It wasn't there when Baltimore Sports fans were experiencing this kind of situation), cell phones to text on and use for web browsing and posting, tons of TV packages....

In the history of the Ravens franchise, they have had 2 back up QB's that I felt good about. Randal Cunningham and Trent Dilfer. There were 587 others who were disasters waiting to happen. I'm glad that Ozzie is staying away from the QB Scrap Heap Musical Chairs. I'd rather have young, new talent as a back up than the Sage Rosenfells of the world. If he were trotting out on the field, my feelings would be "Oh No..." By constantly trying to find a back up from the draft, they at least have the door open that they may find and develop a winner. That can't happen going to the Scrap Heap. No winners there...ever. They are there because they lose. There are 32 teams in the league...it's semi QB starved....these guys can't find a starting job on the horrible teams. So...do you want one comming in for the Ravens with the playoffs or a game on the line? Not me. Not unless there is another Dilfer or Cunningham available and I don't see one.
