papasmurfbell Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Put a fork in them. It is time to rebuild this team. They have to let go of some fan favs. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I'd trade Machado in a heartbeat...if it meant solid pitching. I'd stop riding the Pearce/Reimhold train... This team was not supposed to be a contender this year. It took them until the end of the year to meet that prediction... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Add in Jones and Schoop. I would try to hold onto the starting pitchers. Britton and O'day I would try to trade also. Unfortunately Davis will be an anchor. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Jones I would, but then we'd deplete our outfield of any 'stars'. Schoop or Manny, not both. Britton, no. O'day I would not have resigned. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Can they sign Manny? I don't think they will. Extend an offer to Schoop and if he signs it then you know you can keep him. Quote
dc. Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Unfortunately, I think we are done. We stink on the road and end with 7 straight against teams that have had our number all season - Jays and Yanks. I could be wrong. Hope I'm wrong. But I just don't see enough wins there - only good news is the Tigers have the Indians in the same frame too. Quote
Spen Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 It's my new positive outlook thing I'm trying. Quote
cravnravn Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) I'm not throwing the towel in, we ran into a buzz saw in the Sox, let them get it out of their system. the other night was the first time this season the O's didn't hold some sort of playoff spot, be it division or wild card. But the trend has been that direction for the whole second half, playing sub 500 ball post break right now. And 20+ games over 500 at home to several under on the road. Just keeping my expectations in line... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Hou has 5 more against the angels and 3 against sea. They are 1.5 back of the O's. Sea has 2 more against Min and 4 against Oak. They have the 3 against Hou obviously. They are 2 back of the O's. That is a lot of bad teams for them to feast on to be in a position to leap frog bmore. Quote
Spen Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I'm also positive I'd like more of the Joe Angel / Ben MacDonald combo next season. Quote
dc. Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 If Wade Miley could just start against the diamondbacks every game... Quote
varaven45 Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Os picked a helluva time and place - Toronto - to go into fetal position. Probably a good thing as we would only get embarrassed in playoffs. Buck and the boys have a LOT of damn work in the offseason: Getting an actual lead off hitter for the first time in over a decade Getting 2-3 more legit SPs. And learning how to score outside of the long ball. It should be an interesting offseason. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Did you think the Dback made a case for them to actually get into the playoffs? When they have to play real competition they have been pretty consistently bad since the all star break. Quote
varaven45 Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Ha! The chinaman brings em back from the dead ! Quote

GrubberRaven Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 They can still eliminate the O's and don't think they aren't trying... Quote
dc. Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 Tricky thing... I assume that the Tigers are going to make up their rain out on Monday? Leaves a lot open. They either need to beat us by one game this weekend or two... Definitely would prefer two. Quote
dc. Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 At the same time, being tied with the Jays who play Boston, means we also just have to play one game better than them... Makes me feel good. Quote
