vmax Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 (edited) This is a hard day for me because I've got to admit I'm too old to sit in 3 hours of rain plus all the walking to the stadium. Plus I don't like riding my bike in the rain. I'm sure there will be other no shows like me.Playoff game? I'm there.Steelers? I'm there.Bills???? Steady downpour???? I've been pumped up for a month looking forward to opening day. You know the organization will go all out. They are honoring Boldin. The Ravens look like a very good team on paper, so I want to see how they stack up when it's real. And...I really want to cheer them on with my fellow fans. This is a beefed up roster, resurrected from the ashes of last season, with a ton of talent and hungry players. They should be in every game this year with a decent chance of making the playoffs. tsylvester Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 A win is a win, I hope they remember that Thursday and do not get too hi because of this score. Lots of work to do.... Running game, running game, where art thou running game... Quote
oldno82 Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Lots of positives from this game...passing game with Joe, Defense all game. Pass protection. Receivers getting open and catching the wet ball. Negatives: Jackson isn't ready for prime time. Needs to use his ability to extend plays. Less running by him will be better for him and team. Outlook: Purple Kool-Aid on sale. Watch out for Thursday! Bengals will be tough. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 There were a lot of empty seats. The Bills are awful. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Negatives: Jackson isn't ready for prime time. Needs to use his ability to extend plays. Less running by him will be better for him and team. 100% correct. He barely looks like he is trying to throw it. Also to many designed run plays for him. That isn't making him better. During the game I was thinnking of Vick when he was a rookie. Whatever his problems were he did want to throw the ball. Quote
vmax Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 Last year the Bills allowed the 2nd fewest TD passes in the NFL. Brown, Snead and Crabtree each had 1.Yes...to nit pick...I wasn't happy with the run game in the 1st half...but Damn!!!...the Ravens were so totally dominant and this bodes well. They spanked a lesser opponent like a quality team does. Very surprised to see how much Jackson was on the field in the first half. Teams have to game plan for this. It was a slaughter. Oh Yea! Steelers and Browns tie!!! Quote
Tornado700 Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 A win is a win, I hope they remember that Thursday and do not get too hi because of this score. Lots of work to do.... Running game, running game, where art thou running game... That's exactly how I see it. 47-3 win... meh. Let's look at the negatives, shall we? Quote
varaven45 Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 As Chuck Thompson used to say, aint the beer cold! Enjoying the W tonight; next up Cincy Quote
Spen Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Dominating win in adverse conditions, I'm not picking it apart. Quote
Tornado700 Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Letting these starters sit after the second half is going to really help these players go into Cincy. Good call Harbs. Now, let's give these Bengals a black eye in front of their fans and show this conference who is in charge this season. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Pretty exciting to watch and great to see all three new FA additions with TDs...Lack of running game and presence of fumbles made me sigh a bit... Great start now let's see if they can be consistent. Quote
vmax Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 (edited) Early report: The Baltimore Ravens defeated theCincinnati Bengals 47-3, but the win may have come at a cost. Running back Kenneth Dixon suffered a knee injury late in the fourth quarter, and he did not return to the game. Before exiting the game early, he rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown. This could be a concerning development for Dixon as this is his fourth knee injury since being drafted by Baltimore in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. His NFL career has not gone the way the Ravens had planned as he has missed a substantial amount of games due to injuries and suspensions. Dixon was placed on injured reserve before the start of the 2017 season, while also missing four games in 2016. According to the Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, Dixon is expected to ‘miss some time,’ which will test Baltimore’s depth at the running back position.....https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/report-rb-kenneth-dixon-expected-to-miss-%e2%80%98some-time%e2%80%99/ar-BBN9urs?ocid=U508DHP Edited September 10, 2018 by vmax Quote
oldno82 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Gee, the poor guy can't stay healthy. Bring up Gus Thompson or Turner if need be. They will contribute. Quote
Tornado700 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Gee, the poor guy can't stay healthy. Bring up Gus Thompson or Turner if need be. They will contribute. I've always liked this guy, except for his inability to stay healthy. I agree with you, bring either one of these guys up.How long is Dixon going to be out? Quote
krf82 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Extended use of Jackson v Bills is a ruse to have other teams waste more than usual practice time. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Extended use of Jackson v Bills is a ruse to have other teams waste more than usual practice time. Interesting line of thinking... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I think it is to get Joe out of the firing line and Jackson some much needed reps. It is what every team would want to do. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 No, it is what college teams do, it never works in the NFL, it messes up the rythem of an offense, can even end drives that could be a turning point in a game. It is foolish. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 It happens all the time when teams get routed in the NFL. In college there are more routes so it happens there more. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Yes in a blow out, not during the first quarter... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 They have said for quite a while they would get Jackson a few plays during the game. I am talking about the 2nd half. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I know papa, but using him on jet sweeps, direct snaps are all stupid, they are not ways to help him learn, and defenses know to keep their secondaries back to cover wide outs when he is on the field to save for passes out od those plays. As we saw with the Bills, lost yardage or no yard gains... Quote
oldno82 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I have to agree, Tsyl. Using him for running plays is not a good option. I'd like to see them have him pass on a roll-out once or twice or catch a pass from Joe downfield. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 How do you know he can catch? They have receivers paid to do that, why take the chance of turning the game around or injuring him? He is a back up quarterback, leave him on the bench. Quote
