  1. This season, so far, T Smith seems to be slower for some reason. I am not sure if he has lost his speed or his confidence in the routes, but he is not running at full speed or at least not able to kick it into another gear. This has been an issue with Flacco and his passes to Smith; timing is off. It appears to me he expects the speed from Torrey and it just isn't there. Contract year, he may be playing for a roster spot, let a lone a pay day.
  2. What an ugly game all around, yes, all around; offense, defense, special teams, coaching. No matter, it seems who is the coach, who the players are, playing in Indi seems to bring out the worst in the Ravens. Let us start with the offense first, which was quite offensive. It would have been nice if they could have established some rythem, kept the defense off the field, so it goes.... The line, wow, worst game of the season so far 4 sacks; especially left tackle, but not just the rookie, they all stunk. Sure, there was a good run or three, Flacco had a second or two here or there, but nothing consistant, to the left, to the right nor up the middle. Horrible line play. Zutta missed several calls, in pass protection and run blocking. Flacco rarely had time and even when he did, the pocket was rarely clean enough to step into throws. The backs did a good job with what they had to work with (15 total rushes for 90 yards & a td, 6.0 average), but they too missed a few cut backs that were there, and some blitz pick ups. The receivers- worst day as a group, easily. From kep drops to poor routes, all the way to not breaking free of press coverage. Yes, Flacco was off, yes, he had little, consistan time, but come on man, you have to help your line & your quarterback some days, either with fighting through coverage to get open or making the difficult catch. T Smith (8 targets 3 catches), as usual couldn't get open against press, only against a soft zone and once again had a drop or two. The last play of the game for the offense, yes, the pass was a tad, I mean a tad short, but if he had ben running at full speed the entire way the catch would have been there. Also, even with his half speed, know the situation, make the catch first, then try & be the hero by scoring the td; go up and get the pass. Brown (2 targets 0 catches), Flacco does a great job breaking free, makes the best throw he can and instead of helping him out by laying out, he just tries to run to the ball, to also try & be a hero by scoring.... Smith Sr, nice fumble sir, not, I know, after the games he has had this season, his hands must be tired, he also had a drop today. Flacco- He missed a number of reads today most obvious was the pick, wasn't his most accurate either. Frankly I am surprised he completed 57% of his passes. The defense- what, you think they did nothing wrong, right? Great in the red zone (2 of 5 -40%), 1 of 4 on goal to goal, 25%. right? Only gave up two touchdowns, right? To one of the best offenses in the NFL, too boot. Well, you would be wrong. Yes, they did great not yielding touchdowns on the short fields from the 3 turnovers by the offense & special teams. However, the Colts only punted 3 times, 3 punts, a total of 80 plays for the Colt offense, 80! one drive had 20 plays, 20 plays for one drive. The Colts held the ball for, 10:29 in the 1st quarter, 9:30 in the 2nd( just one drive), 10:54 in the 4th. Please feel free to stop the other team once in a while to help the offense get into a rythem. Numerous missed tackles, missed assignments, especially by our favorite safeties and a corner or two. No, forcing the fumble and recovering it at the end of the game does not make up for all those first downs they gave up. Special teams- Only Jones, J, to mention here, I think it is time he sits down for a full game. One good catch & run at the end of the game to set upa score does not make up for his poor decision making in punt & kick off returns; fumble aside. He is not hitting the wedge quickly, returning kicks ina tight game especially, he has no business returning especially when, even I from my comfty recliner, can see there is no gap for him to get through, just down it, let the team get the ball at the 20..... Coaching- Once again Harbs has some idiot in the boothe telling him to challange and...... he loses the obvious call. Not a big deal today, mattered not at that point, but this has been going on for 3 years now, fire that replay coach. Play calling was abismal. Having Smith sr on the outside instead of the slot made his work much harder. No crossing routes against a match up or even against the man zone to break some one free? Watch other games, how BIG the field seems for their offenses, how open, wide open their recievers are, but not this team. Why? Yes, much of it is because of the receivers, none of them aside from Smith sr, has that quick twitch, but a large part if the play calling using their abilities to the best. I don't care that they won 3 in a row before this loss. This is the 3rd game in five where the offense has stunk. Where is the very quick-fast receiver they traded up for? Oh that is right, he is not as quick as they thought, in fact, no quicker than the receivers they are currently using. Better play calling, better play from the offense, the defense getting off the field once in a while, maybe even one less turnover, who knows. I do know, only 1 sack from the "dynamic duo" of Suggs (hurt) and Dummervil. Shoot, tight ends blocked them most of the game....... Alas, another week, maybe a better team, maybe not, I am still not convinced this team will win more than 6 games nor that Kubs is the answer.
  3. He ha s along, long way to go just to be a mini bart scott.
  4. time will tell, but four games does not show a scary defense. so much changes over the course of a season. a big part of those stats is from the bengals game where they chose to get cute in the red zone or just played it safe, willing to take 3 because the ravens offense could't do anything, marv had more faith in his defense.
  5. 42-14, Colts.
  6. His skill, for me was never in doubt. My issue, for lack of a better word, is will he hold up and be there if the team is in contention in December, January, Feb...... I do like that he can teach the younger guys who have great potential.
  7. Well, we knew this was coming. We talked about bout last year, and in the off season this year. Oh, not the comish exempt list, (no one knew about this list except the comish, odd) but getting cap relief for players who turn out to be criminals and need to be cut, but carry a high salary and thus, big cap hits. I doubt the owners of clubs with good citizens or clubs with torubled players who did not know about this mysterious list, will balk at the exclusionary relief for those on the list..... Also this may lead to relief for the "franchise player", not the tag, but that player, usually a quarterback, who warrants a big salary but hogs a good postion of the cap. This should ge interesting. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11621488/nfl-owners-discuss-financial-burden-banned-players-sources-say
  8. I'll slap you sir, groupie, PA-LEASE.... it is a conversation about the NFL, move along grandpa..... Hey, do you have my cell number? I keep getting text messages from some one in the 813, Tampa area, no idea who it is.... Papa, you have to know Florio to know what I am talking about; trust me, he is just pandering for hits & clicks....
  9. No, the stat was for the entire recieving core, putting the team second worst in the league. Frankly, their stats are wrong, the team had 9 drops in the frist game, 3 by Jones, 3 in the second game, 2 by Jones, one by T Smith, 3 in the 3rd game, 1 by Jones, 2 by T Smith. So they have 15 now by my count before yesterday. Three is normal for a game, it happens. T Smith, nice catch on the touchdown, but he better learn, & quickly, how to get away from the jams & holding, he won't get the calls much longer and it will cost the team a touchdown, a pick & a game because he can't stay on his routes. I agree about Brown, he needs more playing time, him and Aiken, so they can gain confidence in the system and run their routes at the proper speed. They both are tough, good hands receivers, just young and unsure of their routes. You saw that in one of Brown's catches, Trent Green mentioned it. Brown ran a rough, weak out route, but did come back to the ball keeping the DB from under cutting since he, the Db read the route, easily.
  10. I have played football, thank you, I have the back to prove it. He did not even dress today, this with only 4 corner backs, including him, on the roster. It is more than conditioning, the "guys on the radio" either don't know or can't /won't say. Why must you keep using the phrase; "if you played football you would know"? You have used it numerous times now, as if some one has to play football to know anything about it... The way he tried to move last week and couldn't speaks to the injury, not the conditoning plain & simple, I know very well what a back with a bad disk looks like, how it slows a person down litterally, speed wise, how it makes them inflexible. The fact he couldn't even dress this week speaks volumes.
  11. He, the author, is known for just blowing smoke so he gets his hits & clicks. I lost all respect for NBC when they picked him up, he is as devious and back stabbing as they come. As you read in the article, he takes both sides, why? Just to sell ....... He has no dog in this fight, has no answers and just regurgitates the same garbage...
  12. Looks like the DC may have to do that for the defense.........
  13. Ngata chance, for proof we would have to see that, talk about not fair, I'm not sure it would even be legal!
  14. Bahahaha
  15. Jeepers I hope he studied his play book.... The running game could have been better so that the last drive for the defense didn't have to happen How weak is the defense? A player, with a stinger, sits down on the field wth 3 seconds left. Says it all.........
  16. Great ending, they showed the last part of the game (all but 7 seconds) here. Seems they had to get 3 commercials in and make us watch the Niners and Iggles stand around holding their......... until the kick off... Unreal the way they won...
  17. I'll give ya 13, a case of beer for you, since I don't drink, a picture of you, posted on here, in a Steeler jersey with sign, Steelers rock....
  18. I would like to know your source please, for Web's "just conditioning" quote. There is no way, none, a player of his caliber is coming into the camps out of shape. Even to sit out as long as he has, it would not take four plus games to "get in shape". He has a blown disk or two, no doubt, by the way he tried to move in last week's game, he has a bad disk and they, he & the team, are just waiting to see if they can get the sweling down and keep it down. It is the only thing that makes sense at this point. As for the defense, they don't have a good safety on the team, none. Neither of the starters can cover, knows their jobs on coverages and now, limit the types of coverages the team can run. I've been saying it since they drafted him, Elam cannot cover, is not a great safety, never will be, it was the nock on him coming out and the Ravens reached for him. Stewart is even worse and where is the other all world safety? Oh yeah, he too stinks. None of this they are young, too late for that, burned last year, bunred over & over this year. The run defense is barely haning on, the only thing that helps them stop the run is the other team going to the pass or the end zone. This defens has gotten real lucky not facing a true running team, Pitt is just a shell of the team they were, the Panthers were down all of their running backs. Upshaw keeps letting the edge go in a hunt to make a spectacular tackle for a loss..... Williams, in today's game, was having a real good game going until he got hurt. This defense is bad, average at best, and more games will not make them better, nor will getting Mister Suspenion on the field, he is only one safety, they still need another, a corner, a nickle & dime back. They may also need a pass rusher now with Suggs having a nagging groin injury that usually does not heal until you rest for a long while....
  19. No, I am giving 13, sorry, meant to say minus, which is a plus for the Ravens secodary. 3rd and 8 with a gran blitz on and they don't expect a quick, short throw; brilliant! Cover two, with only two receivers on the field, one on each side, and they hug the middle, ignore their side fo the field... Good "Luck" with your ponies.....
  20. Hmm, likely without Suggs, not that it has mattered. Even the anouncers were shocked to see how little no matter how it looked, Cam had been sacked or pressured. If not for an errant snap and some out of the box play calling, the Panthers likely score. No picks this year, oh wait, one, by a defensive tackle.... Luck is gonna carve them up.
  21. I'll take the Colts plus 13 for $500 Marv. Luck will carv up the junior highschool secondary of the Ravens.
  22. I am sure it was mailed registered, signature required so the other part will be easy,,,,,,, Now, will it be a he said she said, bueller, bueller, oh excuse me, Mueller, Mueller...........
  23. Brown has a big body great hands, but not much jitter, struggles to get open without rub routes. Jones, ha, he has more drops than catches this year...
  24. Hurst is the best option. Prior to his college injury, he was considered to be a top prospect, even with his penchant for getting lazy in his technique, attributed to poor conditioning in college. Now, with better coaching, he should be fine, not perfect as of yet, but certainly a heck of a lot better than the aforementioned choices. Jeepers, bringing in Reid or Gradkowski would not only leave Flacco half dead, but the running game as well. Pathers have a solid front four, a very good, rangy MLB too boot.
  25. They had him in the form of Cox. Both were/are over rated and liabilities, especially in big games. He might get his head turned around, but it is highly unlikely.
