  1. Bottom line is if we didn't trade him he was getting cut. Great trade in that regard.
  2. First off I'm gonna miss the guy, fantastic player with the best hands I've ever seen and a guy you really can't replace totally. We're really going to need Pitta and Dickson to make big leaps next year to help that. Secondly though I love the move in light of what I had read recently. With the cap crunch going on throughout the league there are a lot of veterans on the market who are replacement-level skill and will come at cheap prices (see this great Grantland piece http://www.grantland...agent-landscape). Instead of cutting him and saving $4 million while losing $2 Mil in dead money (correct me if I'm wrong on that), we now get a 6th round pick (a spot Oz has shown he can find valuable players on cheap contracts) and save the whole $6 Million in cap space. In this market, $6 Million can get us a player even better than Boldin.
  3. Reports are Boldin dealt to 49ers for 6th round pick. First off I'm gonna miss the guy, fantastic player with the best hands I've ever seen and a guy you really can't replace totally. 4. Agreed. Kruger played well and finally came into his own this year, but he didn't show any sort of dominance whatsoever. He played as an above-average 3-4 OLB and I think any team paying him big bucks is betting on his continued development, which could very well happen.
  5. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/cap-hit/ ^ Great website for the offseason. Next season will really depend on Ngata and Suggs coming back 100% imo. Tough having our two highest-paid players as a shell of themselves this season.
  6. Sorry but there's absolutely no way we can keep all these guys. It's going to have to be Kruger, Ellerbe, or Reed in my opinion.
  7. Would really like picking up McClain and now Spikes (who was just released by SD) to attempt to fill the MLB spot this year. Both should come cheap. Still hoping we resign Ellerbe though.
  8. 18-1 for me on Bovada!
  9. Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora Bryant McKinnie's agent, Michael George, told me he just agreed to a restructured deal for McKinnie to remain a Raven All that drama for nothing.
  10. Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer Ok. Another text from McKinnie: "Not officially over yet just got a call"#staytuned
  11. How were we over the cap after being under all summer and also cutting Cundiff?
  12. Why the hell are we doing this AFTER making the rest of the roster cuts? Looks like McKinnie is gone.... https://twitter.com/RavensInsider/status/243022320770359296 http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-bryant-mckinnie-in-contract-squabble-with-ravens-could-lead-to-his-release-20120904,0,725030.story Koppen got cut by Patriots for similar cost-cutting measures and he would provide nice line depth but he's an interior lineman. We now need a tackle although I'd guess Oher starts at LT and Osemele at RT now... Worried.
  13. If your starting QB goes down for the playoffs its over anyway, waste of money to try and have an expensive backup at that position unless it's one of about 5 guys who could make an argument for starting... But those guys go places where they can compete to start (see Flynn in Seattle), we won't get one.
  14. Not worried. Taylor is affordable and has room to grow. Painter didn't have the arm strength for 15 yard routes in the games I watched this preseason, it was disgusting.
  15. Merriman comes to mind first although he could be done for, but usually there are a few more decent names to get cut before the season.
  16. Here's Jamison Henley's take: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/53420/ravens-make-gutsy-move-by-cutting-cundiff Key here is hopefully some other big names get cut in the coming couple weeks and with that extra money we can convince someone to come aboard. We still could use another DE/OLB in my book and even a veteran OT would be good. Not too mention Safety is now a big need after Nakamura and Zibs left and both of our backups got hurt last week.
  17. Jones is great for us. We can send him on the fly routes a few times a game to give Smith more rest (those sprints get tiring!). Flacco seems to really like him as well which we can not understate the importance of.
  18. I like the decline for the Ravens. It gives him more incentive to go out there and play his ass off, and even if he does, he'll struggle to get more than $5 Per from somebody else. Worse case he plays All-Pro and gets $7 and he'd be worth matching.
  19. I'm a fan of this if we use the 2 million in savings to go pick up more depth at some point. Hoping the rookie can handle clutch situations.
  20. Sign Manning with the $15 Mil you're giving to Flacco. Please.
  21. Completely agree on Evans. I wouldn't have been upset if we had kept him around at his old salary, but I understand given his year why they cut him. He is exactly what we need, and will be fine once healthy. Unless we go big and get someone like Wallace, I don't see a better option than Evans at $1.5 Million + incentives.
  22. I didn't realize he had good hands when we signed him. He's certainly been worth the money. Have him run through the line and blow someone up on the play-actions and then look for the catch, he can take out his own defender!
  23. I think Birk's contract might be up. We only gave him a 3 year deal given his age if my memory serves me right...
  24. That special was definitely worth the watch, loved everything from the Ravens and also was surprised as well at how crappy of a motivator Willis is.
  25. If i was nitpicking, I'd hope that after this point someone would learn how to spell the names of our weapons Boldin and Dickson, but I'm not nitpicking. We played Ravens football tonight. Tough D and ground it out on offense without killing ourselves. Kudos for Cam to sticking with the run against the #1 Run D in the NFL.
