  1. Colinac: I agree with nearly all of what you say. Joe was probably worth about $16 million but we're just splitting hairs. I do believe he never would have signed for that and he would have got what he wanted from another team in free agency leaving us with no franchise qb and drafting in the #32 position in a draft year that was pretty devoid of franchise qb talent. I don't think Joe's play has been 'mediocre over the long run' but I would say it hasn't been elite either (though it certainly was in the playoffs and in the Giants game before that). Bottom Line: Linta had us by the short hairs. What ticks me off more than anything (even more than the fact that we have to renegotiate it in 3 years) is that Linta was such a douche bag to say what he did publicly.
  2. I think, as usual, that John Eisenberg's right on the money: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Eisenberg-The-Iron-Myth-That-Refuses-To-Die/f27fc11f-88c1-43ea-9a40-213a8d877c1b
  3. So how much would you have paid him?
  4. I also thought of this and agree he should dump him. The thing that really pisses me off is that Linta was so cooperative and said so many nice things about the Ravens when the negotiations were underway. Then he turns around and makes a fool out of them.
  5. Didn't think Linta would be tactless like that.
  6. I'm not worried...and I'm a worrier.
  7. I like the idea of using Bynes. And I wonder if Simon can play inside?
  8. Great pic!
  9. This is where we stand at the moment: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-salary-cap-update-1986-million-available-with-rolando-mcclain-retirement-20130516,0,3298811.story
  10. McKinnie living up to expectations so far: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bal-mike-preston-so-far-so-good-for-ravens-with-bryant-mckinnie-20130516,0,3697657.story
  11. I am soooo glad we drafted Arthur Brown and John Simon. If Jameel can make it back we'll be fine. Maybe even better.
  12. I really don't understand why he 'retired'. But its probably good riddance.
  13. Bisciotti is just what our town needed.
  14. Crap, crap, crap! I hate getting old and reading about things like this. I was at that game in '75 when he won it in OT after an incredible drive by Bert Jones. One of the best, for me, football games I've seen. Linhart was money that year and the next 2.
  15. Uh...its OK to like them, just don't shove them down our throat.
  16. Pretty damned potent.
  17. I'm puzzled too. But, I'll chalk it up to Oz getting a good player at a good price. Shipley is definitely pumped to be coming here.
  18. I, for one, will say your behavior lately has been beyond reproach. It will be great if you can keep it that way because its helpful to hear from other teams' fans about the problems and successes they're having as well as our own.
  19. If he stays in shape and has as good a year as last year's playoff run, I'd pay him for 2014 while we, hopefully, bring along a high draft choice LT.
  20. Absolutely correct! Every team uses virtually the same plays to execute but there's a difference between using plays you like (Cam) and using plays that your players execute well (Caldwell). And, Papa is spot on: its how you mix and manage them that makes a good game plan succeed.
  21. Part of me wants to believe him and part of me says he won't change. However, ALL of me is glad he's here.
  22. McKinnie on his conditioning and goals for the upcoming year: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Bryant-McKinnie-Back-At-Ravens-Workouts-Wants-To-Dominate/53893c42-919b-4ae9-9bfa-15eb6dc55164
  23. It completely slipped my mind that the offense took off on its tear after Caldwell got settled in. With him still around, we might really get to see some routes we've been clamoring for.
  24. Boldin was only decent until the playoff run---then he was Superman. We probably have a guy on the roster that can be as good as Q was during the season but there ain't nobody out there that can perform like he did in the playoffs. I feel privileged I was able to see that.
