  1. Problems with reading comprehension crav? It's ok...we understand.
  2. I don't believe anybody can be this stupid...SportingBrainFartNews. They won't name the sub-moron who made this list of top RB's in the NFL... well...this guy just earned the Prestigous ExtremeRavens Mystery Date Award...have a great night on us!
  3. Nice! I love what I see but it's all on paper as of now. Nobody is going to roll over for the Ravens. They will have to earn it the hard way starting with opening day against the Jets in the Meadowlands. I can't talk Super Bowl now....We've had these expectations before only to see them fall short. I have to see how they are playing as a team (offense, defense, special teams) by weeks 4-6...then I have a better gauge.
  4. Hey varav.... I sit in the lower level end zone (115) and I love it. You can see all the running and passing lanes, the line opening holes, totally see the plays develop.... and the TD's in my endzone more than make up for having to use the big screen when the team is at the opposite end. Go for it...it beats the nose bleeds by a mile.
  5. hey...Washington sounds ready to go.
  6. This is Stupid. OK...now let's have Special Teams rankings based on Quarterbacks.
  7. I read an article on Al Saunders in the Sun this morning and it sparked some thoughts on the upcomming training camp. Al said: What I saw was one good coach that the Ravens are fortunate to have and then I thought they are loaded with solid coaches from the HC down. This is critical for team success because Ozzie has loaded this team with very good, talented players. All they need is great coaching to take that next step as a team. That's what happened in 2000. A perfect storm where a very solid roster was put together with great coaching. Marvin Lewis, Jack Del Rio, Rex Ryan and Mike Smith went on to be head coaches.....and they still are! That team did not crackin the face of serious adversity. Instead they found themselves and their identity. They put together a winning formula. Part of that success and Super Bowl run was the great coaching that was in place. I see the same senario for this season. I don't know who amoung this list will be a future HC in the NFL, but this is one very good staff beginning with John Harbaugh... John Harbaugh Head Coach Jerry Rosburg Assistant Head Coach / Special Teams Coordinator Cam Cameron Offensive Coordinator Greg Mattison Defensive Coordinator Roy Anderson Defensive Assistant / Secondary Clarence Brooks Defensive Line Coach Jason Brooks Assistant to the Offense John Dunn Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach Wade Harman Tight Ends Coach Jim Hostler Wide Receivers Coach Marwan Maalouf Assistant Special Teams Coach John Matsko Offensive Line Coach Andy Moeller Assistant Offensive Line Coach Ted Monachino Outside Linebackers Coach Wilbert Montgomery Running Backs Coach Chuck Pagano Secondary Coach Dean Pees Linebackers Coach Bob Rogucki Strength & Conditioning Coach Al Saunders Senior Offensive Assistant Craig Ver Steeg Offensive Assistant Matt Weiss Head Coach's Assistant Jim Zorn Quarterbacks Coach These are the men who will be teaching and putting together the 2010 team during training camp this year. How well they communicate and teach....how well they work in tandum for a common goal...how well they mold all 3 units...offense, defense, and special team into a game winning unit is part of what I will be looking for in this 2010 camp. The talent is in place...as good as you can hope for in this age of the salary cap. The team who hoists the Super Bowl trophy this year with be the team and organization that gets the most out of their talent. The current Ravens coaching staff has a rare opportunity to become great like the 2000 staff. That's what they have lived for their entire careers...to win...to be part of a Super Bowl Championship team.
  8. The Ravens are only about 6 months older than the NFL average team age....about a year up on the youngest teams. What's important is the age of the impact players...like Ray, Mason, Gregg, Reed, Birk, Pryce....they have develop players who can fill those positions in the next year or two.
  9. It happens when you're building for a Super Bowl run...Ozzie has loaded it with experience and proven players. He did the same thing to build the 2000 team.
  10. I do think there is a safety issue for kids. I've seen that autograph section and I won't go into it. But........... Cass gets paid handsomely to be smart...so why doesn't he offer a seperate, roped off section for adults? The place is big enough for 4-5 sections. Come on...that is so easy to do.
  11. Looks like you don't get to trample on kids this year crav! I think it's a good idea because they have been cramming a ton of people into a small area and kids do get trampled. It was fine when they had the full squad Saturday scrimage and roped the whole field off. Then the players would move around the perimiter and sign autographs. There was plenty of room for fans to spread out and wait for players to come up. I was able to get almost every players autograph on the 2000 Ravens squad....with no effort.
  12. Derrick is setting the bar. He wants to go to Dallas like Ray wanted to go to Tampa. I'm glad he said it. That's leadership and focus. No more fooling around. Everybody get your heads on straight because they have the talent to pull it off. Ozzie has been building this team for 3 years for just this purpose. Now's the time Now's the year.
  13. Mark Clayton's a disappointment IMO. I give another....since he got his new contract... Suggs has been at least a disappointment. Another se43ason like last year and he's a bust for the money that he getys paid. I will say...Brady Quins premeditated cheap shot on Suggs knee affected his play for the rest of the year. It would be real sweet if Quin's the starter Week 5....Suggs might kill him.
  14. Who flies to the ball better? Stats from the Ravens website... or... Looks like Ellerbe to me with 9 less starts. In fairness to Gooden he was loosely labeled the "heir to Ray Lewis" probably because he was from Miami. That's too much of a burden to carry...like being the guy to replace Brooks Robinson or Johhny U. The D was very good against the run with both of them playing this year...but Ray was next to them. If Ray's not there, can the D be as good? I'm looking for the guy who can be Ray's replacement.
  15. Add any current Ravens player to this discussion who you think is on the 'Bust or Disappointment' bubble. I'll start.....Tavaris Gooden. From what I've seen he gets hurt often, doesn't make the stops at the line of scrimage...he's no headhunter and LB's have to be that. I don't think he can do the job inside if Ray goes down. Nobody's going to be Ray but somebody has to show they can play that position and play it nasty. I don't see that in Gooden so I'll label him a bust.
  16. I agree with this writter. Ed never said he wants a new contract"NOW". "Did you see how quickly the local and national media turned my comments into wanting and asking for a new contract now?!"
  17. I'm excited to get my first look at Cody at camp. I'll be checking out Redding and Jones. Here's a suggestion: Run an IV from McCrary to Kruger before games or do somekind of mind transference thing? Vulcan Mind Meld???? Whoever can rush the passer will make this unit. They have to consistently put quarterbacks on their ass or have them running for their life if this is to be a Super Bowl team.
  18. "OK...who cried during the Jermaine Lewis segment?"
  19. I saw it last night at and it was awesome. Great combination of commentators. Interesting side story...Dilfers playbook was stolen during the last regular season game in Nashville. He said when they went back to Nashville in the playoffs, the Titans knew every offensive play they were running and blew up the offense before it could get going. He knows they stole it. Here's the NFL network schedule: http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/networkschedule
  20. Here's the transcript of the chat... http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2010/07/transcript_part_i_of_ed_reeds_interview_on_1057.html He'll make $6 mil this season if he plays...that has to twist his mind and influence his decision away from the rational thing to do. Now...what is the doctors responsibility in all this? The ones who have to clear him to play? The ones who say he is physically capable to play, to take the beating and dish out the beating that will happen over 16+ games and not bean invalid. Can Ed sue them? What it the teams responsibility? What is the leagues responsibility? Somebody...who does not have a vested interest...should make the determination that players with certain injuries are at too much of a risk to play the game and therefore they have to retire. Ed can't see straight to help himself considering his love of the game and the opportunity to make $6 mil this season. The Ravens Organization wants to win...they want a Super Bowl and Ed Reed on the field just increases their chances to do that. They certainly do not want to see Ed get hurt but they do have some factors that would blind them to saying "Ed, we love you, but for your own good, it's time to find another profession." OK...he's an informed adult...a man...he can make his own decisions and live with the consequences that he is totally aware of. It's on him...right? Everybody else can wash their hands. That doesn't feel right to me. Not when I've seen Johnny U's crippled hands...John Mackey as a shell of a man...these guys will....play till they are carted off on a stretcher
  21. I took it this way(reading between the lines)....he wants to go to work and play ball because he loves it and likes where the team is headed....but he knows he's going to face some serious consequences. His decision to play would be easier if he knew he had 'insurance/money' to pay for those probable consequences....some kind of guarantee that he would be taken care of if he becomes seriously hurt. That's why he refered to the CBA....there's a ton of broken down former NFL players who are not just physically broken but financially due to medical issues that surfaced later in life as a result of playing the game. Ed faces that. It's sounded like..."Ravens? Would you pick up the tab if I take a hit week 2 that lays me up and ends my career? Or..."Why should I play for $2-3 million dollars if it could cost me $4-5?" He knows that under the current policy he won't be taken care of..."It's a business and these are business thoughts" He never said that but that's what I thought was between the lines. I guess that could only be handled with a new contract. Here's another way I look at it. Ed has doubts (which is sane)...because it is insane to step onto the field with his current physical problems. It's insane because he knows how physical the game is and what the current state of his body is. But he loves the game...wants a SB ring...this team has a shot...and the pay is not too shabby. The sane thing to do is retire now....before he ends upin a wheel chair for life
