Free Agency and the Ravens

Wow...they finally got a guy who can cover and not get injured!

Ozzie's tightening up the defense before the draft.

The draft is deep in CB's Right? So they don't have to get one in the first round. Get another one later.

They can go for a pass rushing, QB killing DE or a WR or a mauling O lineman with "HATE" tattooed on his knuckles in round 1.

The Ravens are listed as 1 of 7 teams who have improved the most this off season...

5. BALTIMORE RAVENS
Quality over quantity: motto of the Ravens’ offseason. It didn’t take much, but the Ravens got much better this offseason with the signing of four players. Tony Jefferson will step in right away and be a perfect complement to Eric Weddle, Brandon Williams will assume his role as a productive run-stopper, Danny Woodhead can be a dynamic third-down back and Brandon Carr will never miss a play.
That’s four productive players added to the roster in a matter of a week, which is a huge win for Baltimore. Replacing Ricky Wagner will be difficult, but the Ravens’ other additions will outweigh his departure. And they still have time to find his replacement in the draft.....http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/7-nfl-teams-that-have-improved-the-most-this-offseason/ss-BByAIeY?li=BBnba9I#image=4

Here's how the Ravens lost free agents have done...

Very few players have enjoyed great success after leaving the Ravens, here's a look at those from that Super Bowl team who signed big-money deals elsewhere (Ngata and receiver Anquan Boldin were traded and weren't factored in here):

LB Dannell Ellerbe, Dolphins (five years, $35 million): He was one of the worst inside linebackers in 2013, missed all but one game in 2014 and was traded to the Saints after a total of 16 games in two seasons with Miami.

CB Corey Graham, Bills (four years, $16 million): He was a contributor who started the past two seasons after switching to safety. Graham was released this offseason.

LB Paul Kruger, Browns (five years, $40 million): The Browns paid Kruger $27 million over three seasons and got 18 total sacks in return. He was cut during the final week of the preseason last year and now plays for the Saints.

LB Pernell McPhee, Bears (five years, $38.7 million): He has produced 10 sacks in two seasons in Chicago despite missing nine games. A knee condition could force him to be a part-time player the rest of his career.

OT Michael Oher, Titans (four years, $20 million): He struggled mightily in 11 starts in Tennessee and was released after one season with the Titans. Oher played better with the Panthers, but he's been in the concussion protocol for the past six months.

OL Kelechi Osemele, Raiders (five years, $58.5 million): He's been one of few Ravens draft picks to enjoy major success elsewhere. Osemele was a dominant All-Pro guard for the Raiders in his first season.

FS Ed Reed, Texans (three years, $15 million): He didn't last a full season with the Texans, who released him after seven games despite giving him $5 million guaranteed. One of the best safeties in NFL history, Reed finished out his final NFL season with the Jets.

WR Torrey Smith, 49ers (five years, $40 million): He managed a disappointing 53 catches for 930 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons. Smith was cut this offseason and signed with the Eagles.

CB Cary Williams, Eagles (three years, $17 million): He was a good but not great player for two seasons in Philadelphia, where he started every game for a secondary that allowed the most passing yards in the NFL in 2013 and the second-most in 2014. Williams was out of football last season.

The Ravens watched two more homegrown players, offensive tackle Rick Wagner and fullback Kyle Juszczyk, leave this offseason. Wagner signed a five-year, $47.5 millhttp://www.espn.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/34664/release-of-art-jones-is-reminder-ravens-typically-make-right-callioncontract with Detroit, and Juszczyk reached a four-year, $21 million deal with San Francisco. It remains to be seen whether they can break free of what has been an awful track record for Ravens free agents who go elsewhere...

Was Priest Holmes the greatest undrafted free agent ever?

Yes,....Loved the guy.....great character, heart and work ethic.... but the Ravens were in CAP Jail that won them the Super Bowl and couldn't afford to keep him and Jamal.
