ForceEight Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Per Schefter. I guess they really weren't impressed with Smith, either. He says it's a 4th rounder.
Guest BallTMore Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Neat. Hope he produces. Two rookies starting had me worried.
oldno82 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Neat. Hope he produces. Two rookies starting had me worried. If they got him for a 4th rounder, its a steal. He'll give Flacco and Q some immediate help. In the long run I'm still feeling good about T Smtih and Doss.
BMoreHon Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 not bad...Bills wanted a 3rd rounder originally. Way to wheel and deal!
yagersports Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Good vet p/u. We didn't need a Cothery or other cast offs. We need someone with field stretching capability! Awesome. Cheap too. I was an advocate of going with what we had, but this is the kind of p/u you can't let pass by.
colincac Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Amazing pick up especially considering his contract is so small the next 2 years after he signed a big 4 year deal that was front-loaded. We really need to go get Bryant McKinnie now at 1 Year 2.5 Million like Rosenhaus sent to all the teams and move Oher back to RT. Championship.

vmax Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 See...the Ravens actually won last night. By halftime Ozzie was texting the Bills to send him Evans.
OutsideRzAcE Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 See...the Ravens actually won last night. By halftime Ozzie was texting the Bills to send him Evans. LOL...I can't believe we got Evans for a 4. Great move Oz
colincac Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 An out-of-shape McKinnie at LT is still a big upgrade. That would allow us to move Oher to RT. Talk about an upgrade then going from Cousins to Oher at RT.
yagersports Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Oher s/b a rt, he's just not a lt in this league.
OutsideRzAcE Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Oher s/b a rt, he's just not a lt in this league. I am starting to agree with this.
ForceEight Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Except McKinnie isn't a starting LT, either. That would be an enormous waste of money.
oldno82 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 The problem is, I'm not sure there are any LTs or even RTs any good out there as FAs. We'd have to trade another pick. If we got somebody who'd be here for 4 years and be good I'd do that if the pick was reasonable. We also need a backup C and G unless we're waiting for Rabach to pass his physical.
papasmurfbell Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I am saying something positive. THis is a great move. He still has 2 yrs left on the deal. It only cost a 4th rounder. He is making a little over $3 mil this yr. Best trade Oz has made in at lest 5 yrs.

Fantastic move with absolutely zero risk, who the fuck cares about a 4th round pick? Can't wait to see what Lee can do with a decent Quarterback and without the whole defense keying on him.
RavenMad Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Great pick up. I feel a lot better about the WR corps now that we have 2 vets in there that have done something in the NFL. We don't have to rely on 2 rookies developing straight away. Now if we can just get this O-Line to jell and start pass blocking better we might have a shot.

Now the rookies can shuffle in and out of that 3rd WR spot and grow without killing the passing game.

I thought we'd be able to go with the 2 rookies (Smith and Doss) but after watching the show last week, I think you guys were right that we needed a veteran presence and you make a good point that they can come in and out as they grow. I still think Smith and Doss will be solid but its too much to expect them to come in and play at a high level with just 3 weeks of practice before they would face the Steelers in week 1. Now if we can just keep the O-line from killing the passing game!
