Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested over the weekend after an alleged physical altercation with a woman at a casino in Atlantic City, according to his attorneys.

Rice’s attorney Andrew Alperstein confirmed Rice was charged and released after what he described as allegations of a “very minor physical altercation” at Revel Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Alperstein said a woman he identified as Rice’s fiancée was also charged and released in connection with the incident.

Rice, 27, was released on his own recognizance, Alperstein said.

Early police report pretty much describes he and his girlfriend/fiance(?) getting into it a bit at the casino. Lots of speculation from there that's not worth figuring out. I'm sure we'll see video eventually.

Best hope is that charges are dropped on both parties as a 'domestic dispute' - but who knows what else could follow?

police reports are open, supposedly rice slapped his girl in the face, either before or after she slapped him.... cameras tell the truth... i do think this will be made to go away and nothing more will come of it. even so, hitting a woman, no matter the reason, not good...

Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested in Atlantic City, N.J., on Friday night after he and his fiancee were reportedly involved in a "minor physical altercation" in a casino.
According to his attorney, Andrew Alperstein, the couple was at Revel Casino on Atlantic City's boardwalk when they engaged in what he called a "very minor physical altercation."
They were detained by police and released.
Rice hired a Philadelphia-area attorney, Michael Diamondstein, to represent him in this matter.
Diamondstein told the Baltimore Sun that the charges against the couple have not yet been released.
"We haven’t seen any charging documents yet,” Diamondstein said. “There was an argument that included Ray. I can’t give any specifics because we haven’t seen the document yet.”
However, Deadspin alleges that the incident between the couple was more violent.
"According to our tipster, though, word at the Revel early Saturday morning was that a woman—presumably the fiancée—had spit on Rice and that in retaliation, he uppercut her, knocking her completely unconscious," they wrote on Sunday night.
Neither the Atlantic City police nor Revel Security have offered comment on the situation, but the Ravens issued this statement.
"We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained," said Chad Steele, the Ravens' director of public relations.
The 2014 season will be the third year of Rice's five-year, $35 million deal.
He struggled both with injury and to find his place in the Ravens' offense last season, averaging a career-worst 3.08 yards per carry.
UPDATE (10:44 p.m.): Atlantic City police released the incident report.
Both Rice and his fiancee, Janay Palmer, were charged with simple assault after surveillance footage showed them striking each other with their hands.

I hope the part where he uppercut her and knocked her out are not true

It is false, you can see part of the truth there in their own article where the report states she hit him and he hit her on video. Had she been nocked out or even down, the police report would have noted it, which it did not. Also, by law, a medic unit would have to have been called had she lost conscousness....

He was released on his own recognizance due to the fact that he's no longer a threat to run.

It said on facebook that he tried to out run the police but was caught after 2.9 yards.

This is really going to hurt him, didn't he have a campaign against bullying? No he goes and bullies a woman. I can't see how his head will be into football with this hanging over him.

Conduct detrimental to the team might be a loophole for the Ravens to get out the contract?

By the time court is scheduled, they will have kissed and made up. Both alleged victims would have to testify against each other. Both will refuse and the state will nol prosse (dismiss)the case.

not true my buddy had to call the cops to calm his wife down who was hitting him. The cops arrested her after he said he wasn't pressing charges and the cops response was well the state wants to. He has testified for her but it did no good. In this case there is video evidence so it doesn't matter if they talk ior not.

Good point, steel.

I want to wait until the video leaks out, but right now he's not looking too good.

I definitely think he has head problems. He's not the squeaky clean guy that he tried to make us believe he is.
